Your sims are BEAUTIFUL! I look forward to reading more of your story. (I have to admit I only read the first post, but the anxiety inside of me to tell you how beautiful they were was just too much to wait until I finished all of them.)

He's sooooo FLUFFY!! I love him!!
The dog, not.. Junior. I love Pasiphae's point of view. I am actually the kind of person who would rummage in the junkyard while it was raining. But if someone that I didn't know yelled at me...
then please hold my earrings while I beat them to a pulp.
Great update as always!!

Isn't he the cutest doggie ever? And this is coming from a cat person  ::)
Hah, Junior is so awkward - didn't help that at the time he was Unflirty and he has No Sense of Humour... His Unflirty trait mysteriously disappeared later. Though I had nothing to do with that... Nope. Not at all. Nothing whatsoever. Didn't cheat. Not me. Never.
Same goes for Pasiphaë's Grumpy trait. Oh, the mysteries that happen in my game!

Anyway *coughs* thank you :D

Aaah, thank you so much :D

[Author's note: Well, I managed to disappear for a while. Holiday activities and video games stole my time away... but here we are - I'd better put up two chapters today, to compensate a bit!]

2.2. I'm the Queen, Bow to Me, Peasants

Things sure did happen on the night of prom. Zachary and Aëy couldn't be torn away from each other for more than a second, as was predictable enough, but scaredy little Ariadne got in a fight. When I came home and said 'Guess who got in a fight?' she immediately said 'Oh, no, Passie, not again.'

For your information, I never got in any fights before. Arguments, sure, but that's different.

Me, I was made Prom Queen, for some reason. I sure didn't feel much like a queen – my grades weren't doing so well, and then there was Junior, who was there and who was too embarrassed to even talk to me, until I poked him in the ribs. We agreed that we should probably see each other again soon, and I admit, I did feel a bit red in the face when we left that night.

And I tried the whole dating thing the next night.

Now, I don't even want to talk about. I spoke, I said the wrong thing. He spoke, he said the wrong thing. We were both tired and I was grumpy and suffice to say it...

Didn't end well. After arguing back and forth, I said we'd just be friends.

The look on his face pretty much mimicked how I felt. I tried not to cry, when I spun and said 'See you at graduation'.

After that, I pretty much stuck to the Junkyard. Digging through trash is more therapeutic than one might think. Maybe I should have told someone, Mum or Aëy or Ariadne. But it felt wrong. It felt like they were always moving forward, and I felt like a failure. True to what I'd said, Junior and I did stay friends, best friends, but it was always like everytime we tried to talk, there was something looming under the surface. If I was feeling particularly grumpy, we'd part and I would be sure that this time it was really over - and then he called back the next day. Friends it was, then. Inventing was the only stability in that. If I continued my inventing, maybe I would be less of a failure?

Mum was getting more and more fond of Achilles – the two of them were best of friends now, and she was bringing home more and more cash every time she went to work.

And life was busy shaping itself around Aërope. It always seemed like she had everything under control. Her and Zach had already planned to go live in his family's house after graduation was over.

Well, all I could think was, that the sooner that part of my life was over, the better. I'd be different, I swore to myself. I wouldn't be a failure anymore...

2.3. A Mature and Responsible Adult

Our first night as mature and responsible adults started out great – with a robbery. Mum woke up to find a thief in our home and when she called the police, she witnessed the deadly fight between a policewoman and the female thief. And it ended with the thief winning and running off with our shower. No, really.

I don't know how she did it either. Luckily, as Mum put it, we weren't as poor as back when her and dad just had us, so we replaced the shower right away – and added a burglar alarm as well.

Well, honest, we added a whole new house. It was time, after all, to not just live in a box, and I do believe what we had built instead was much more like the rest of Monte Vista.

And just in time for Aëy's wedding, too. They didn't want a lot of bells and whistles, as they said. Just a simple ceremony, in the new house, with Mum and me looking on. Ariadne would have been there, but she was at work. Regardless – we all cried and then they took off to their new life.

And Ariadne went with them. She smiled and said that, yeah, their house was pretty big and while ours wasn't exactly tiny, it did seem like it would be better with Aërope and Zackary. It was in the middle of the city, too.

After they all left, I sat down with Mum and tried to keep my existential crisis at bay. She was reading one of her medical journals and finally looked up.

“So, when are you leaving?”

I almost had a heart attack. “You want me to go?”

“Oh, no, I just thought it would be easier to take over the world from the town centre. There aren't that many minions in this part of Monte Vista.”

“Oh, I... yeah...”
Honestly, the idea of getting by on my own seemed as foreign as taking over the world by now. How could I take over the world, if I couldn't even contain my grumpy nature long enough to have a nice date with a guy that I liked?

Mum looked worried, so I quickly plastered a smile on my face and said:

“Don't think you'll get rid of me that easily! I'm not going anywhere. I can... take over the world from here.”

The Next day was graduation. I looked and felt equally stupid as they handed me my report card – a B. Both my sister had As, and I left from there with the dubious honour of being dubbed 'The One Most Likely to Be Mediocre'.

Everything I'd been going through lately, summed up in what my classmates actually thought of me. Prom Queen? More like Pity Queen, I thought.

I tried figuring out what I'd do with my life. I should go find a job, but of course there was my inventing... it just didn't seem like something I could do with the rest of my life. The rest of my life! Me, an inventor? In those days, it felt impossible.

And so, I ran away.

[Author's note: Yay, existential crisis! And what is this, no graduation pictures? Why? Well, because for some reason, Passie felt like wearing a... bear cap, instead of a graduation cap. Why does that happen sometimes, anyway? And why did it have to happen to Pasiphaë? What's up with that? If anybody knows I'd be happy...]

[Author's note: Yeah, I disappeared for a while but I'm going to try and update more regularly now that I'm back after my holiday. Still haven't given up on the Ithacas :)]

2.4. Mediocre

The first day in France, I sat around, staring at a wall, pondering nothing at all. Maybe I should have tried thinking things through, but at that moment, I didn't want to. I just sat staring. It wasn't until the second day, I went out and tried talking to people.

I met Elliot, who liked to talk, but when I flew into a rant about Junior and how much of a jerk he was, he gently said that I probably had some issues to look into.

I managed to mess that up fairly quickly, for sure. And after that, I didn't even care to try and pretend that France wasn't a stupid idea and not even a good escape. I could have been that mummy that chased me out of the pyramid in Egypt, and I would have been better company.

At home was when I realised I couldn't just run away anymore. My problems would stick even if I fled to another part of the world and buried myself in the desert. What I hadn't wanted to face was the fact that I was part of the problem.

I'd been a grumpy grump for as long as I could remember. I hadn't been very happy as a baby and probably not as a child either, and the grumpiness had just stuck. It was just part of me, but then... I could just change.

I felt like I moved in slow motion when I went to the phone and called a pretty familiar number.

“Junior isn't here,” his mother said. “He has work at the Autumn Festival. Maybe you could go see him there?”

I smiled. Maybe, yes.

I found him by the merchant's stall, wearing the stupidest outfit I've ever seen on anyone. When he saw me, he immediately held out a hand.

“Don't say anything!”

“I wasn't going to. I mean, you look very... manly... Junior.”

He shook his head. “You look like you're going to break down laughing.”

“I'm... I'm really sorry, honestly.”

“No, I'm... it's okay. I think the whole disastrous date when we were teens was kind of... both of our faults, you know?”

“Oh, that, yeah. Way to change the topic but... Yeah, we were both...”

“Young and grumpy?”

“Yes.”

Somehow, that was as far as we got with being sappy. We both apologised, and he agreed to show me around the festival grounds, if I promised I'd stop making fun of the hat.

And that was that – things were finally looking up.

[Author's note: After this chapter, I had that annoying bug where Passie couldn't ask Junior to go steady or get married, so I had to take them all and move them to a new copy of Monte Vista – which is why it's autumn now and it'll be summer again from the next chapter on. I moved Aërope, Ariadne, Zachary and Junior with them, but they lost all ties with Carlo, sadly... oh well, at least the bug stopped... bugging out.

Also, shortly before this... things happened and Pasiphaë's grumpy trait magically disappeared. I didn't cheat or anything. Nope. Not at all...]

2.5. Junkyard Girl and Funny Hat Guy

What's that? A pretty dress containing a crying Mum. That could only really mean one thing.

Either it was because I'd finally agreed to put up my otherwise impossible hair, or else it was because we were getting married. You know what, it was probably both.

Just like Aërope and Zachary, we decided to keep it simple. We were married in front of the house.

After that, we set to changing around the bedrooms. Mum insisted that Junior and I have the master bedroom that she had been staying in for so long, and she got my old bedroom.

I'm pretty sure her eyes lit up when she talked about bedrooms and doublebeds, and I'm also pretty sure that means she wants us to have children.

No matter what her motives, she had our bedroom decorate nicely, in reds and oranges, just the way she knows I like it.

And hey, it wasn't like we were completely opposed to the idea of children, Junior and I... but that's private. Avert thine eyes, if you please.

With my new-found confidence and an existential crisis that was going away, I went for inventing and quickly registered as an inventor at Town Hall. Junior quit the festival thing and got a proper job with the town's police department, after he'd sheepishly confided to me, that he always wanted to be an International Super spy. Bless.

The result?

Mediocre? Please, I don't even know the meaning of the word.

I really love your story. I commented a bit ago about how beautiful your sims were, but I finally read through the whole thing. I kind of want to comment from my beginning to the end, because I just like it so much.

1.) I love the care and work you put into Persie's backstory, as well as the back stories of her aunt and Carlo. It was seamless and wonderful, and gave meaning to having her start out in the middle of no where.
2.) I think your sims are still gorgeous. I'm a CC nut, and I am seriously drawn to other members who use it and make gorgeous sims.
3.) The girls are gorgeous and the way you've detailed through their personalities was fantastic. They really felt like their own entities, even as toddlers. I've loved reading through their toddler and child years, and like you said, it's not very often that those younger years are very enjoyable, to play, write or read. But you've done an excellent job.
4.) I think Ariadne is the most beautiful (I have a sim with that name as well in one of my stories! I love Greek mythology), but Passie is the most interesting.
5.) I love how you added some complexity to the teenage relationship between Passie and Junior. Because it's so easy to make sims fall in love, you hardly ever seen a relationship build and fall the way theirs has. Awkward teens, grumpy traits, all played in rather realistically. I appreciate that.
6.) I actually cried when Carlo died. Real tears and everything. You gave him such a rich history and relatability that I was genuinely upset when he passed.
7.) I think your story is wonderful and one of the best on this site. I will definitely be reading more of this and will be looking forward to updates.

You can call me Hearts. It's been a pleasure to meet you through your characters and writing! Perhaps we can share some CC some time! :D

Oh, wow, I'm blushing here. Thank you a million times over. Your comment means the world to me. You really have me flustered! It means a lot to me, knowing that you can connect with the characters the way you can - characters are kind of my thing in any kind of writing and knowing that people can connect with them means more than you probably realise. I'm extremely flattered.
I'm also very surprised and pleased that you liked the backstory bit! I was so afraid it was too much and annoying and in the way - hence why I say you can just skip it. Guess it at least works to some!

Aw, that's too bad... I think I was lucky because I just moved them after that bug... I actually think I had rain during Aërope's wedding and that's why they were married indoors...

So hello there, Hearts, it's very nice to meet you! You can call me Louise :)

The backstory stuff is what makes stories like these so special. Any fool off the street can play a game and write out what happened in it, but it's developing the characters and giving them a world to belong to inside of a legacy challenge is what is so special. I look forward to reading more of your stuff, Louise. I don't give out praise in this way very often, haha, but when I do, I am intense about it!  :P

I thank you humbly once again :) I'm really happy that you like it and like the backstory stuff, too - now I'm less nervous about going for some of the plotthreads I'd considered but discarded because I wasn't sure the backstory was interesting enough ;)
And now, onto another update:

2.6. The Ithaca Legacy Lives On

It wasn't too long after I found out about my pregnancy that Aërope called to tell me her news – she was pregnant, too. Ha, I finally one-upped her. I got there first.

I'm kidding. It made me really happy, but not more than Mum.

She was already ecstatic that I was pregnant, and I think she played more than ever with Achilles just to let out some of that pent-up energy of hers. When I told her about the pregnancy, she shook me so hard and excitedly that I had to remind her that I was pregnant and that shaking pregnant people might be a bad idea.

After quite some time feeling like a beached whale, I finally went into labour – with all the grace of a beached whale, too. If Junior hadn't been busy screaming like a girl, I think he might have made fun of my crossed eyes.

And so, a little boy was born. In the evening Junior and I sat down with him and considered names.

“How about Hector?” he said. “Your mother has that theme – might as well stick to it, right?”

“That's a nice name, I said. Sounds lovely. Only... I was thinking we could name him after his daddy.”

“...”

“Junior Jr.”

The look on his face was the exact same look Mum had on her face that one time I asked if maybe her and dad had a good box of nectar when they came up with my name. No laughs. So it was Hector Ithaca, the first Ithaca boy to be born into our family.

Mum had her birthday not long after, and when she'd done waking up the neighbours and boring the mail man with pictures of Hector, she went to see Aërope. She told me that she, as a medical professional, had determined that Aëy was having a boy too.

I told her that's not how it works, but she was adamant, and I agreed to agree if she would believe I once met a mummy in Egypt. Then she muttered something about a 'margin for error' and ran off to play chess.

It was hard not to be drawn into the kind of sappiness that I'd always either feared or disliked, and both Junior and I dissolved into baby talk and giggles at the sight of the little guy.

Only adding to our sappiness was the kitten that we soon welcomed into our home. Junior is huge on cats, so we thought we might as well get some company for Achilles for when we didn't have time to play with him. And so, we welcomed a little, grey kitty and named him Patroclus.

Admittedly, we were nervous – I mean, everybody knows about the famous rivalry between cat and dog, but Achilles just sniffed the little guy, Patroclus sniffed him back, and then they were off to play.

And it was just in time for Hector to have his birthday and age into a gorgeous, ginger toddler, too, quite like his dad (except for the ginger part). Oh yes, things were getting interesting.

[Author's note:
Fun with names yay – let's start with Achilles, because I forgot earlier:

Achilles: One of the greatest hero of ancient Greek mythology – if not the greatest. Known for being practically invincible – with the exception of the unfortunate heel. At the battle of Troy, he pulled out of fighting after Agamemnon took the girl he'd gotten during a plunder. He then cried to his mother and sat sulking in a tent for a while.

Hector: The biggest hero of the city of Troy and quite possibly the only decent guy in all of Greek mythology (no, really). Married to Andromache and very devoted to her and his son, Astyanax, until he was killed by Achilles (don't worry, I'll keep the dog at a safe distance from the boy).

Patroclus: In mythology, Achilles' best friend. After he died, killed by Hector (don't worry, I'll keep the boy at a safe distance from the cat), Achilles returned to the battle of Troy after having sulked in that tent for a while.

… it's possible I didn't think it through when I name these three.]

Hector is so handsome! Probably the most handsome toddler I've ever seen in game. They usually come out looking all the same, haha. Not Hector though. Also, when you say Patrocles was Achilles best friend, I think you mean lover, haha.
