Weird Sound Issue
« on: June 29, 2013, 06:58:29 PM »
So the other day I installed Island Paradise and started by moving a household from Bridgeport to Isla Paradiso. Everything went well untill I started driving my houseboat. No idea if that really caused the glitch but regardless that's when it started. Suddenly all the sound just went off and after a couple of seconds the sound came back and since then it's been going on and off in few seconds intervals no matter what my sims are doing. Goes without saying that it's very annoying. It only happens in Live Mode and only in Sims 3 and with that one save. I've restarted the game and saved the file with a new name and reloaded it but those tricks didn't help.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Does it sound like somebody is picking a needle up off of a record player when the sound goes out?

I'm having the same issue. I thought maybe it was an outdated mod or something, but it happens in a vanilla game, too. I have not driven my houseboat, so I don't think that's necessarily the trigger.

Yes, that's exactly it. Hopefully someone finds a way to get rid of it. If we have to wait for EA's fix it'll take a long time.

You mean it is like a scratching sound? It happen in my one game, but only once. I will play that file in a bit and pay close attention. It didn't happen in my other file. I don't use mods or CC.

No, it's not a scratching sound...it's kind of like the noise you would hear if you had huge speakers on full volume but nothing playing, and then unplugged them. It's the noise you'd hear when unplugging. It's hard to describe, but I think "taking a needle off of a record" is the best I can do.

Ok I see. I'm playing now and my sound is fine. It did go sort of on and off yesterday. Was kind of weird. Never did it before.

I had been playing Isla Paradiso without issues until yesterday when I began to to have the same sort of noise in live mode only.  It doesn't happen in any other neighborhoods. I pulled all custom content and mods out of my game and it was still happening.  My son started his own Isla Paradiso game. The noise began within 5 minutes of him playing.

We are finding it very annoying to play without the sound on.

Did you clear the cache files? I clear mine every night that may have solved my issue.

My problem isn't wierd sounds but no sounds. When I open the game, it's there but after about five real time minutes, all audio is gone. I've cleared caches, etc. and, I've done two factory resets (on my brand new computer) to try to solve the freezing on EA Logo problem.

I deleted the radio and bought a new stereo for my sim and it fixed the problem.

I had an issue where there was no sound period. After much googling, i found this reponse from a girl in 2009! "My boyfriend figured it out for me. (sadly he figured it out AFTER I deleted all my sims and reinstalled.) It was the stupidest thing, I run vista and for some reason windows randomly decided that only the sims should have no sound and muted it every time I ran the game. So he opened volume control on my desktop, and unmuted it and when I re-entered the sims I had sound." I tired this, and it worked!! FYI.
