Multiple Homes?
« on: June 29, 2013, 08:55:36 AM »
Does anyone know if we can more than two homes?
I was thinking if getting at least one house and setting up roommates and buying a houseboat for myself to bring in extra money!

I'm fairly sure you can have as many as you want, at least I've not heard of a limit to additional homes. :)

I have three properties so far; 1 Houseboat, 1 landhome, and 1 resort.  I have not run into any issues yet, although it does start to get expensive, but the resort really pays for itself.

My next goal is to purchase another property just to build a green house and horse ranch!

Does anyone know, if I give up my houseboat to move into a house onshore, will I have to give up use of the houseboat?  I'm kind of attached to it and hate to lose it.  The lot I'm moving into is one I "found" from discovering the islands, if that makes any difference.

Thanks.

If you use the generic move then you will lose the houseboat completely. If you purchase an additional property and then move into the additional property you should still be able to use the houseboat.

You can.  I started my Sim out with a houseboat, then made a male Sim for her to marry.   I had downloaded a really nice beach house a while back and was excited about using it.  So, I moved them into the house (houseboat is on the shore).  There is a problem though.  I had paparazzi already showing up, so I remembered I needed to lock up the house and add a nice fence.   Well, I can lock the house, but not the gates?  It says "you dont own the venue"??? >< My Sim purchased the property via computer, so ya.. its hers!  Anyone else having this issue?

You can own as many properties as you want.  My sims own about half the town at this point (I got a little too excited about this feature).  I'm curious if you've tried out your idea about setting up roommates in one house and then moving your sim to another?  Did the roommates stay in the house, or come with your sim, or move out altogether?  I suppose your sim could use the houseboat without it technically being his/her "official" residence as far as the game is concerned.  Just wondering how it worked for you!  I might have to give that a try.
