Uncharted Islands

 I have unlocked an island by Asking About Adventure at front desk in a resort to start a quest for Refuge Island.

I unlocked one last night by returning from Shang Simla. When my sim came back from vacation he ended up on an uncharted island instead of at home.

Is that the one where you have to find some kelp and do a firewalk?

Yes and fight a shark.

I just unlocked one by finding a "message in a bottle" while diving at Davy Jones' Locker.   Now I just need to go there and see what I want to do with it.

Hm. It won't let me finish the firewalk part. My sim's walked across the whole thing and looked dejected after, even though she spent two days doing it repeatedly. Might cancel the whole thing and do it over.

I did unlock an island by literally sailing past it. That was cool.

Does anyone know the names of their uncharted islands? I'm curious so I can plan ahead in naming my resorts!

The eight islands are:   Diver's Den, Mermaid's Secret, Plunder Cove, Refuge Island, No Trouble Atoll, Plumbob Island, Beryl Shoals, and The Cay to the City.   The last one I'm guessing as I can't remember it's actual name but the game coding calls it the Cay.

You have to do the firewalk on at least Hot temperature.

Which didn't register for me the twice I did it. Setting the temperature to the highest (Scorching?) completed it.

I just got to the part where you have to fight a shark. Is there a way to make it happen or do I just have to get lucky with finding a hungry shark?

Load up your inventory with fish/meat. I did it by catching fish and leaving them in the inventory. When a shark is in the area, queue up "watch shark" (I did a lot of them).

Fortunately, I lost the fight to the shark with 4 mins to spare on the "breathing shallowly" moodlet.

Also be aware that mermaids cannot be attacked by sharks.   So this opp chain has to be done by someone without a tail.

Well that would explain it. Can I get more than one piece of kelp from the same mermaid or do I have to befriend another one? And a cure elixir works on mermaids, right?

The potent cure does work on mermaids and you can get multiple kelp.
