Regarding fishing off houseboats.  It's a reported EA bug that if the boat has a basement, fishing off the boat is borked.  And I don't think removing the basement fixes it.  I've also seen reports that placing fences on a boat does the same thing.  Pam, the first boat you were on, did it have a basement or fencing?

Anyone able to use an easel on a house boat? I boat a house boat for the sole purpose of a painting tour of the islands but no matter where I place the easel (or which I use) I get "no interactions available" when trying to use it.

I think there is an issue where you can't paint on any additional properties, only on your lot that is your current active home.

I'm experiencing this annoying boat glitch that won't let me move the houseboat at all, without it automatically sending my sims sitting in a taxiboat in the middle of the house (which it thinks is the middle of the ocean, but it's not) and sends them swimming outside in the ocean after I cancel that.

I have this situation where I can't put down a toddler on the second floor; you select "put down X here" in the 2nd floor nursery, and the sim takes the toddler downstairs and puts them down by the front door. It's similar to another one I get when I'm in certain houses in Moonlight Falls and Sunset Valley when you try to have someone pick up a toddler and they leave the kid at the top of the stairs. Maybe it's caused by the design of the houseboat?

My experience with toddlers is that Sims like to put them down in as large an empty space as they can. Try making more room on the top floor and less room at the front door or something like that.

Have you determined if it happens with all houseboats or a single one?

I guess there is another glitch, houseboats in Sunset Valley.  I put a port, built a really nice houseboat, went to the dive spot I built.  When I tried to go back, my sim could move the boat, but could not take it back to the port.  He just stood at the helm and stomped his feet.  I put the houseboat in the bin, bulldozed the port and tried again.  Same thing happened.  I don't have any problems in IP.  I am going to try it in Barnacle Bay and see what happens.

I'm still unable to fish from my Sim's houseboat.  She took it out and parked it in the middle of a body of water, but she still gets the routing bubble when I tell her to fish.  What am I missing here?

How many squares do you have of just open space, no decorations are you giving her?

Hmmm.  I think I must have misunderstood the open space thing.  I thought the houseboat needed a certain amount of open space around it.  But it's the Sim who needs the open space?

Usually when they mention open space it's in reference to what the Sim needs in my mind.  You know she can fish out of a sailboat or rowboat too?

I know you're right.  I wasn't thinking the right way.  And, yes, I've gotten her to fish from a sailboat.  Weird thing was that I couldn't choose bait that way.  She had to use whatever she used on the last fishing event.
