Not able to register on thesims3.com

I got IP last night and downloaded and played it. Than I went to try to redeem my stuff for a pre-order, and I was successful on 2 out of 3 things. The last one says I need to register IP, do I want to do that now? I click yes, enter the serial number sent to me in the e-mail, and it says the code is invalid. I really want to register because having that grayed out icon on my sims3 page is driving me crazy, especially since I DO own it. What can I do to solve this?

I think you have to type it out and not copy and paste in. Did you hit register new game then type in the code. That should work. Good Luck!

I did type it out. I got a piece of paper, copied it from the email, triple checked it was the right numbers/letters and typed it in.  Thanks

Just to be sure, you're entering 0 as the number, and O as the letter, right?

I'm having exactly the same problem.  My code doesn't have any 0's or O's, so I'm pretty sure I didn't make that sort of error.  When I got University, I had the same sort of problem only then it was the premium content that I wasn't able to enter the code for.  I tried repeatedly but it just wouldn't work.  I gave up and pretty much forgot about it for a few weeks, then one day something reminded me and I tried again - to my surprise, that time it worked!  I have no idea why, but unless someone has another suggestion, I'll probably do the same thing this time - leave it for a while and then try again.  If it still doesn't work, I guess there's always the help department.

I swore I would not pre-order another game via Origin direct download as I have had this same problem each time that I did.  Of course I couldn't wait for delivery, so silly me ordered the download - again.  I played for a few hours last night then today decided to redeem my goodies so I could try them out later tonight. 

First thing I did was click on the link provided in the email and slowly typed in the code. I checked and double checked my typing and then I clicked to submit.  I almost cried when the word 'Invalid' appeared.  I then checked 'My Page' on the official site and I saw that the icon was not showing up.  I also went into my activity area and could not find where my game was registered.

This time I was smart.  I logged into Origin, clicked on Origin Help then clicked on Live Chat.  After a wait of about 45 minutes I was connected to an agent and I explained my issue.  Within 5 minutes I was given another code which I quickly entered into the registration link.  I was then registered!

Long story short - the agent was very, very helpful and it was worth my short wait to have my game officially registered.   Because this has happened in the past, I knew what to do without losing my playing time trying to figure it out.  I will also eventually buy a physical disk so that I will always be able to load the game.

Try the chat option.  That is the fastest way to get a response.

I had this problem once before and found the answer in a help forum. Log out of your Sims 3 page, give it a few minutes, then log back in again. It should have automatically registered if you bought with Origin and will pop up under your games on your page. Good luck!

Go to the actual Origin launcher and go to help.  There is an option either for live chat or call back.  Live chat works great.  Might be a half hour wait, but as soon as I was talking to someone, they fixed my issue, which was the same thing; the download version didn't automatically register like it should.

Weird update lol. There are no 0's or O's in the serial number. Also I just got the 3rd prize downloaded, and I also have my BB done, the weird thing is even though all my rewards have been claimed, it's STILL grayed out on my page. I logged in and out several times and it's still not registering that I own the game. I think I'll let it go for a little while and try again, after all I'm not on that site very often anyways!

EDIT: I logged out and back in to see if it would register I have BB now, and nope. IP and BB is grayed out like I don't own them.
EDIT 2: I use google chrome, so I went to tools and cleared my cache and deleted my cookies, and it's still not registering that I own them. I really really do!

The greyed out thing is a known bug with my page.  Until I signed in after getting Island Paradise, it said I hadn't owned University Life since it came out.  It's never told me I owned Barnacle Bay and I've had it a long time too.

Oddly enough I went and checked it out today, and now it says I own BB but not IP.  My question should be I got BB from pre-ordering IP, so logically I couldn't have BB without IP. LOL ah well I've never said the sims are logical haha.

As stupid as it sounds, triple check the letters and numbers you are typing in. I have come a cropper when I've been sure a certain letter is one thing but it's another.

I've found 6's can look like G's, 0's can look like O's. One in particular I remember is VV (double V) which can look like a W. Make sure the right number of letters/numbers is entered, I think it's 25 usually.

This is for the physical copy mind, might be different downloading from Origin.
