Missing Babies
« on: June 25, 2013, 07:44:09 PM »
I read some other threads on a similar topic but they were all quite old so I'm starting a new one.

In a long-running game, I have three brothers that were populating the town with their blueboos. I just noticed that some of the blueboos are missing, however. Two, to be precise, from two different households, the children of two different brothers. Each one was a twin, and their twins are still present in the houses. The children show up in the relationship panel and family tree, but they are not in the houses. I've tried resetting them individually as well as resetSim * to no avail. I checked Edit Town just to make sure, and they are not in the households there either. I am now saving under a different title and I'm going to close the game, restart the computer, and check to see whether that fixes it. Otherwise I'm at a loss. They're not crucial to my game or anything, but just letting babies disappear goes against my nature.

If you can help, please do. I will update this thread after the game saves, quits, and re-loads.

Are you absolutely certain these children weren't killed by story progression?  Do you read the paper every day?

I haven't read the paper in a couple of days, but if they died wouldn't they vanish from the relationship panel? I have had babies in town die by Story Progression before and as I recall I got a notification.

You only get a notification if you are good friends or better with the people that die I think.   Also, if they're dead they will still be on the family tree and forever stuck at that life stage.  Some of Baron's kids died this way.

I just read the paper and there was a notice about poor baby Tony dying at a gathering of lightning rod enthusiasts. I can only imagine Leigh went days ago and I didn't notice until now. I feel dreadful. Is this because I didn't make friends with them enough?  :'(

I think my days of having the spares populate the town have ended. Apparently the town is too populated already for Story Progression's liking.

So will they have gravestones or are those only for children and up?

Gravestones are only for a certain friendship level so I don't think you'll be able to get them.  It's more about how many people you do.  Have 6 spares is one thing but have 15 is another and sometimes they choose the ones with very little relationship to the family.

All right, I've never seen a gravestone for a baby anyway but that's probably because they don't die unless they're in another household and you neglect them. I had my three spares have 11 children altogether and the first six I was diligent in making them teach the skills and build a relationship but then it got to be too much to keep up with.

Oddly enough, even though the girl disappeared first I just got the notice in the newspaper. The toddler drowned. So sad.
