I'm old-fashioned when it comes to naming and I believe in honouring the parents and grandparents. Fionola is named after River's mom so when the second baby was born a boy, I knew he would be Jack.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and that your New Year's plans are fabulous! We had a slight change of plans resulting in us being able to spend 3 more days with my family! I will be back officially on Jan 3rd. I just had to check in while the household is quiet.

Chapter 13: Growing Pains

Bored one weekend afternoon, having finished his homework, Dillan wanders down the hill towards the town center. Turning the corner, he almost runs over a teen with jet black hair walking in the opposite direction. After a quick apology, Dillan introduces himself and asks the girl if he's met her before. Her giggle makes him smile and she informs him that they are in the same History and Math classes. "By the way, my name is Anissa Alto-Langerak," she says. Dillan asks if she would like to hang out at Central Park. She agrees and hearts fly when they discover they're both a bit more excited about snow cones than most people!



Unable to stop thinking about Anissa, and with his grades in History and Math now slipping, Dillan asks Anissa to come by after school to "help me with my homework." Anissa agrees and they study at the kitchen table together. When they both finish, Dillan invites Anissa for a game of Skate on the game console; then, before he loses his nerve, he leans in to kiss her.



Disappointed and embarrassed, Dillan barely hears Anissa make her excuses and leave.

The noise and energy of the two families gathering in the kitchen to celebrate two Bunch birthdays brings Dillan back to the present. He joins in the celebration as River brings Fionola to her cake and helps her blow out the candles. It's hard to believe, even for Dillan, that this little girl will start school tomorrow.



Then it's Jack's turn. Dillan can't help but feel a little bit sad that he hadn't given that cute blanket-wrapped boy one last snuggle. He can only imagine how River and Ethan must be feeling.



To continue the birthday celebrations, the family heads out to the new children's park where Ethan starts the conversation training with young Jack, who seems eager to learn and a quick study.



Dillan heads off on a walk to clear his head and almost runs over young Ida Hart. She seems to be lost and, after calling her house and telling her mother where Ida was, he regales her with a ghost story while they wait.

She agrees and hearts fly when they discover they're both a bit more excited about snow cones than most people!

They're not worth it if they don't get excited over snow cones!

I hope Dillan's next romantic endeavor ends better. And Jack is so cute! I see a lot of Ethan in him.

But the kids are just too adorable! I definitely see a lot of Bunch in Jack. The hair is a little hard to tell though...it that red Fiona hair or light brown Jack hair?

Chapter 14: Mixing It Up

Almost all grown up, Fionola heads off for her first day of school, pausing briefly so Mom can snap a quick picture. She's excited but at the same time just a little bit scared.



After another long day at work, Ethan finally earns his last promotion and is now a World Renown Surgeon, fulfilling his lifetime wish!



Dillan, not one to let his failures hold him back, spends a few hours primping in front the bathroom mirror. Maybe Anissa will find him irresistible all cleaned up for Prom tonight. And if not, maybe some other beautiful girl will want to dance with him all night. Maybe that would make Anissa jealous. Maybe ...



The limo's honking horn startles Dillan out of his thoughts and he darts into his room to change before heading out the door. Tonight could be the best night of his life!



While Dillan is trying to figure out girls, Fionola is trying to figure out the chemistry table. Mom and Dad insist that she wear a lab coat and goggles at all times, although she doesn't understand why. It's not like mixing chemicals is dangerous or may cause explosions or anything!



She successfully mixes up a Liquid Horror Potion.



And then does what any little Genius scientist should do: put your product through rigorous testing.



While the chemistry table is fun, there is something to be said for a good ol' fashioned bowl, wooden spoon, and child-sized oven.



Vanilla muffins have a much better after-taste than the Liquid Horror Potion. And are better accepted by one's Mom and Dad to consume.

Fionola is a lucky girl; all of my sims get singed the first time they use the chemistry table.

I hope Dillan had a good time at prom!

Fionola has turned into such a lovely girl. She looks so much like her mother!

And congrats to Ethan! It's funny...he almost always winds up as a doctor in most games that I play in SV. The other two times (seriously...only two) he was a politician then a police officer.

I hope that Dillan starts having better luck with the ladies.

@ Trip: Fionola started with 3 points in Logic from the peg box, that may have helped, and she's a genius. Not sure if either of those makes a difference but she did manage to discover her first potion without getting singed.

@ Raia: Ethan came into our family with the Surgeon LTW so he was allowed to become a doctor. I've never played him before so I didn't care what LTW he picked.

@ judewright: I can't remember what the potion did to her but according to Carl's potion guide, the Liquid Horror Potion gives Sims a negative Horrified moodlet for 8hr or so and that's it. She got to spend the rest of the day doing fun things to try and combat that negative moodlet, if I remember correctly.

I'm glad to know that it just gave her a bad moodlet, I was wondering also what it had done to her, was she going to be okay.

She seems so cute I didn't want anything bad to happen to her.

Chapter 15: Summer Family Fun

Young Jack delights in the wonders of the world around him. Daddy teaches him the art of talking while Lady introduces him to the giggles of dog slobber and fuzzy fur in his face.



It's always a good time to throw a party according to Molly and no one can deny her when Spooky Day rolls around and she decides to throw a Feast Party for all the extended family. It's not Molly's fault that some of the guests are too busy dancing to dig into the wonderful food everyone brought.



Ethan's sister Darlene is sitting at the table next to Fionola and is expecting her first child with husband Malcolm Landgraab.

Sandi decides that having a full house, a dog, and a career as an acrobat isn't exciting enough, she decides to adopt a cat. This is Princess, being welcomed to the family by Lady.



Sandi takes the day off from perfecting her stunts at the park and spends her time getting to know her new cat, and make Princess feel welcome and safe in her new large and noisy family. Jack is getting his last lesson in speaking from Daddy.



With the introduction of a new expansion pack, Sandi decides to add snorkeling to her list of skills under 5 points. She didn't manage to find anything before she had to head over to that evening's performance.



Molly and Grady celebrate their anniversary by playing in the sand down at the beach after Molly finishes work for the night.



An outing to the park is always a family favourite and tonight Fionola decides to try out that fishing rod she's been carrying around for as long as she can remember. After she takes a trip through the Haunted House.



Dillan spends the evening hanging out with an old friend, Ida Hart.



Ethan, River, and Molly have a nice dinner at a picnic table, where they can keep an eye on the kids without looking like they're supervising. River is wearing Hot Hibiscus by Ausette.



The last warm day of this year finds the family out in the backyard having a family fun day playing hopscotch (Ethan, Molly, and Fionola) or splashing around in the pool.



The French Gnome is disappointed he has to watch from the sidelines and can't join in.

What a cute cat! I don't have Island Paradise, but the pool slide looks like it was fun too.
