I own 2 resorts and quite frankly it's exhausting trying to keep on top of all the repairs required. It takes all the fun out of it.

I have a married couple who are constantly going to the resorts to fix things. I've bought the unbreakable toilets and they both have the plumber skill challenge but everything still breaks - even after I've just fixed it!

There doesn't appear to be any maintenance staff anywhere and the filth is piling up. One of the resorts had gone down to 3 & 1/2 stars before I had noticed.

Buy and add a Bonehilda.  She'll keep the place up even when the staff doesn't

Hot tip!!!

When you are in build/buy mode, you can ctrl+shift+click your beach tower, and upgrade fully for no additional cost!! WITHOUT TCE!!!

Great tip!  I'll definitely give this one a try.

Alternatively, if you don't have Supernatural, but do have Showtime, get yourself a genie. They have a spell they can do (clean lot, I think?) that will take care of that. If you do have Supernatural, you can also have a witch learn her way up to Restoration Ritual, and do the same thing.

I think my mistake was having Hobart's as my first resort - I've read there is a bug if you own it and therefore it leads to the others having it as well.

I started a new game and have a new resort (not Hobart's) and it's been fine for weeks (sim weeks). All staff are there and fix things pretty quickly.

One reason I was not keen to get a bonehilda is some of the sims possible reactions I.e. neurotic and cowardly sims always faint/run away from them. Does anyone know whether bad reviews mention bonehilda?

I've never seen a mention of Bonehilda in the reviews, but I suspect that resort reviews are pre-made, and only revolve around certain resort aspects - pool, jacuzzi, cleanliness, food, firewalking, spa services, and landscape/location.

And decor - I've had guests complain about how plain and outdated the lobby is.

$480,501/day profit in Beryl Shoals!

I also tried to make the most profitable resort without any cheats. I managed to consistently net $480501/day!

I found that if you build a floor full of towers, you can then build a room around those towers and put another floor of towers on the next floor (even though the models intersect). Note that I'm not using moveobjects.

I also found that adding a bunk bed increased the population by 2 so I crammed in as many as I could in the underground floors.

Like Vinyl, I also put all amenities in the first level basement.

Towers per floor: 12
Floors full of towers: 6
Total towers: 72

Bunk beds per basement floor: 1280
Total basements full of beds: 3
Total Beds: 3840 (I placed all these individually!)

Occupants: 12,724 (Always maxed)
Revenue: $458,064
Expenses: $137,730
Profit after "Hotel Mogul" Lifetime Reward: $480,501

That's fantastic (and hilarious)!  Interesting that bunkbeds, of all things, actually added to the occupancy.  Did you have to set VIP door locks somewhere to get them to trigger, or did they increase the occupancy just by being placed in a basement?

Also, did you find any lag with the mega-resort runnning?  It looks like it has the potential to be a pathing nightmare for the townies.  Actually, now that I look closer at it, was it fully enclosed and couldn't be accessed by anyone?

No VIP door locks. Adding beds alone increased the occupancy and revenue.

Yes, I had horrible, horrible lag but I've found that Island Paradise in general runs a bit laggy on my machine for some reason. I think that for other people it won't run too badly.

Real sims are able to walk to any of the towers but not the bunk beds. I found that only a handful of sims at my resort were real so they only used one or two towers and the other occupants were just numbers.

Here we all were trying to make things neat, tidy, and beautiful and you just put it all lumped together and became a millionaire with no concern about aesthetics~~!  KUDOS!!!  You've found the key for making this a real money maker with no worries about reviews or anything else.  How did your reviews go, by the way?  This was really clever of you and no cheats!  Wow.

I discovered something yesterday.  Being tired of the Base Camp in Al Simhara I decided to build a resort there.  Guess what?  You can't!  Unless I just simply had no clue where to find the towers there was no way to build a money making resort.  I imagine this holds true for other countries as well.

As far as I know, Resorts are made by converting a Private Lot. You could try getting VISA level 3, purchasing two vacations homes, and converting one to a resort?

The resort is 5 stars. I just put a gym, food stand and full buffet on the first level basement. I kept adding firewalk pits and hot tubs until they stopped complaining. I also covered the walls in expensive paintings so they thought the resort was beautiful.

I think the key is getting the visa level 3.  I was doing it with cheats, using "Build on this lot" and also tried it with just Edit Town.  I did convert a lot and also tried by placing a new lot.  The towers just never showed up and I believe I should have been able to find them in the commercial items thing.  I'll try again.  I think it would be fun to have resorts in all the foreign worlds but of course, they would only be there for the family you are playing anyway.  Of course, saving them to the library would make them accessible for any family.

I don't think they're under commercial objects. I've only ever found them in Build/Buy on a resort lot under Resort Objects and in Blueprint Mode.

If you own the Lucky Simoleons Casino from the Store, it is easy to convert it into a resort.  I removed the three parking spaces from the front and put the Eco Modern Tower there.  The guests  didn't seem interested in gambling until about 10:00pm.  It was a lot of fun.  I want to try converting the Serenity Retreat Spa next.

That's really smart! I converted the Crumplebottom house in Moonlight Falls but I didn't think of doing a commercial lot! Good idea, I'll definitely try it.
