What to do with reward certificates? Sell them?
« on: August 01, 2010, 07:20:57 PM »
As you all know, if a sim masters a skill, he/she will be given a reward certificate through the mailbox. My question is, what to do with them? Keep them pinned on the wall for other sims to view or sell them for cash? If other sims view my reward certificate, will it create a relationship and mood boost?

Or is the certificate just given to you for cosmetic purposes?

Thanks!

 :)

I don't remember the specific number, but I believe each certificate adds +4 or +5 to a room's environmental score. Personally, I sell them.

I found the article on Interior Decor. It's great info. And I was wrong. Rewards give +6.

I sell them.  I'd rather have paintings on the wall.  Plus, if you have multiple Sims for a long time, you'll be overwhelmed by certificates.

I hang them on the wall in order that they are completed. And they will be in the bedroom of the sim that completed the skill.

I sell them.  They sell for $1000 apiece, and there are much cheaper paintings that will give the same environmental score.

Some of them sell for $600 each.  I don't know why there's a difference.  I haven't tracked it to see which ones are worth more.

I keep mine.  Now, I am not sure why I do though. lol  I have one house that has rooms of the silly things.  Guess I will have to see how much they are.

I needed this topic. I have kept mine from the past generations of my legacy family, but I have no way of finding out which ones were for which sim, so I left them in my last house when I moved the family. lol

Pam, I've noticed that my reward certificates can be sold for $1000, until a few days later, then they decrease in price every day, until they're only worth $600. It's not a matter of them being different, just older :)

Usually I keep the rewards cause I thought it was nice, just yesterday I tried selling the ones my current family had for 600 sim a piece. After finding out about the env score was +6 I began to regret it lol (you have to remember that the rewards are free)

I keep a few and put them in the study, I think it complements the decor for that kind of room. Then the rest I sell. They all look the same anyhow, unless you zoom in closely and see the different symbol on each one.

How do find out how much of an environmental score each object gives? I must admit this, amongst others, has puzzled me for quite a while now when I read articles from the guide. The detail that goes into them is so specific, and I never figured out how it's done. Unless I'm missing something obvious, which wouldn't surprise me.

I save them and either keep them in family inventory or line the walls of a lesser used space - basements for example, if the basement is a treasure room I will put them there, all of them. Or like someone said put them up in the bedroom of the Sim it belongs to.

I guess though if you have legacy families, or family home with many generations then this would become overwhelming.  But unless I need the money I don't consider selling.

In this one house, did not realize how many I had until I had to put them in the chest to move.  When I moved and started taking them out,  I counted at least 50 of those things.  I had them everywhere, lol.

The reason for that is the same as basically every other item: the longer you keep it, the less worth it become.
