Challenges

I did a search to find directions and rules for challenges.  Perhaps I missed a posting but can not find this information.  Also scanned through many posts on the forum with no luck, only explanations for individual Challenge questions.   Could someone point me in the right direction for how to play and the rules.  Thanks.

Hey brappl! 

There is an entire board dedicated just to the forum's gameplay challenges that can be found here.  We run 1 long and 1 short at a time for a tournament but there is also three different types of dynasties (our forum's personal generational challenges by our very own Metro).

Other challenges would be the Building Contest and the Create-A-Sim contest that can be found over on the swap shop.

I'm actually a member of the Challenge Board team and if you have any questions, feel free to PM me and I can send you in the right direction, answer questions and offer moral support if you decide to start a dynasty.   All questions for individual challenges should be done in their threads.

Thanks Rica.  I did see those threads.  I'm confused though.  I am looking for directions on how to start and play a challenge and what are the rules.  Sorry, I must be missing something somewhere!  Everyone seems to be having so much fun with these I might like to give it a try but don't know where to start.

Which challenge - legacy, dynasty, project, tournament challenge, building contest, CAS contest?  There are separate thread for each Dynasty and the first post of those threads is the rules.  There is the General Challenge Rules for the Tournament.  There is an entire section of Project rules that all have individual threads with their rules posted.


Depending on what type of challenge, depends on where I can send you.

Oh, OK.  I will look further and go to the first thread.  If figured I was missing something while going through the threads.. got side tracked reading some of the comments and stories.  Once I find a challenge, I post to that board.  Thanks Rica, you have been so very helpful.

No problem and if you're still not sure which one, don't hesitate to ask me in PM or on this thread.   It depends on what type of game you want to play.

The dynasties have a lot of rules and they are all really long gameplay wise ( 7 generations, 8 generations or 10 generations).  I love them to pieces- I have so many I can't keep up with.  I'm also on the challenge team and participate in our 2013 tournament.  We have two new challenges for it starting on Monday. 

Some of our members have written crazy awesome projects and posted the rules on the project board for people to follow.   Two really good ones are Random Town Jump by judewright and The Orphange Project by Schipperke.

Found all the goals and rules on the first page just as you advised.  Never thought to go down that far.  These look awesome and for me playing without mods will really be a challenge and I look forward to that!  Plus I have not played in an official Sim world for years and will probably get lost just going to the store.

Just remember if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask in the rules thread of the game you're playing.   It's better to be 100% sure than to do something and think it was right when it wasn't.

On last on general play for any of the Challenges.  Are these played on line?

All challenges require Sims 3 not that you sign in to use the my page features.

Just to add to what Ricalynn said, you play the Challenge in your own game the same as you normally play, and when you're finished you submit your score based on the scoring criteria for that particular challenge.

Wonderful, I was hoping that was the case.  I never play on line and would really love to participate in one of these challenges in the near future.
