Problems with New Patch 1.55
« on: June 19, 2013, 01:31:53 AM »
I've had a tad bug with the most recent patch. I wanted to move towns and I picked out my town and got their house ready to sell. Then the action just bounced off. So, they're stuck at home. Because in the game, they're "moving" so they can't travel or move or anything like that. Well, I get back on my game a couple weeks/ days later and it's almost like it fixed itself. I clicked the cell phone and everything was normal. Hmm? Well, my teenager aged up and the rest of the family moved out and bought a house and the teen...now young adult left and moved to ISLA PARIDISO! Yeah, she travels safely and Island Paradise is ROCKIN awesome!

[ I apologize for bashing when I posted. I was upset and should've calmed down before posting. I will always take that into consideration before posting. I am very sorry, and I hope you will forgive as I have edited my post ]

You know the forum rules about bashing.

As for the not working, it won't work while the kids are at boarding school.  It needs all the Sims to be in town to move to the new town.  Sounds to me like your game isn't messed up as you don't have to move unless you want to and that it will work if you remove the children from boarding school.

Also did you save as or just save over the file?  When performing a move like this, you should always do it as a save as function.

Skilling Extremely Slow

In my Sims family (the only save file I have right now) they're all skilling super slow. It's Sam Sekemoto who's married to my born in game Sim and it's taking them forever to max skills! Sam's written almost 20 books and he still hasn't maxed writing, she's in the science career and just maxed gardening, working on handiness and fishing. I don't know if this is just a bug or not? It's just started happening since the latest patch. Has anyone else experienced this since patching up?

It's the "fix" for the fast-skilling bug that came with University:
Now all sims that were affected by the fast-skilling skill twice as slowly. I don't know which option is worse.

Hmm.. Are you sure it's only happening the sims affected by the fast skilling bug? Because I know that mine weren't.

Welcome to the forum.   Are you absolutely certain yours weren't?  I had sims that skilled a little bit faster but not the insanely fast that others were getting because they were only affected maybe from one save instead of multiples and they are now also having this problem whereas other Sims are not.

Also I'm moving this thread over into the Help section.

Hi,

Yes, I just played last night and had this problem.  It was taking my sim absolutely forever to master the cooking skill and I mean forever.  I had her practicing cooking all day and night cooking so many meals to practice.   The whole fridge is full of leftovers now and I had her watching the cooking channel all day and late into the night.  She was on level 9 and then finally I think after countless sim hours finally she maxed the skill and it had to be after at least 3 or 4 sim days it seemed like to go from level 9 to 10.  That little thing above the sim's head hardly moved at all even though the plus sign kept coming up.  But she has the perfectionist trait and it says things take longer so I'm assuming skills would take longer.

Yes, I'm 99.9% sure that they didn't have the fast skilling bug. I only started this file a few days ago and everything seemed normal.
Edit: How did sims get the bug? Was it just random?

This still all goes back to the patch.  I'm thinking it's Sims that were effected or Sims that had skills prior to the patch and needed to complete them.   I'm in another testing file right now with a new family to see if it effects everyone or just old games.

Awesome. I'm going to try saving the family to the bin and placing them in a brand new save file as well.

I really appreciate help from both of you, Ricalynn and Pam. I am concerned though because I had a similar experience. I downloaded the new patch yesterday. I went to play my decatownies (3rd generation) and I know we are allowed to move a limited number of times. Since I also added two new expansion packs (supernaturals and late night) I decided to click on able to move towns. It also showed up immediately upon downloading my family. Now every game I play whether a previous one or even a new one. All games will not save because they say can not save during a move. However, my family never did move and this occurs across all games including brand new families I tried out today. It occurs with families that are townies and families I create. Including all other previously created families. I want to start  in the new challenge and continue with my townies or even if necessary start another one. However, since I downloaded the patch and then clicked the pop-up move your family, I am unable to play or save anything.

I would appreciate any help or suggestions.  You guys are great!!!

Do you have a save from before you chose to move them or did you overwrite the save?  And remember you can only do a move in a Townie DecaDynasty right after an heir changes houses/finishes their requirements but before they bring in the new heir..  It can't be any other time.

The problem is it has effected every single game. It has not only effected the one. It impacts games that I start from the beginning today. I am given the same response even when it is a sim in a different town, that was not started before, and even in a different life state. I took this problem as a chance to play with some different life states once I found that nothing would save. I was attempting to do some learning to possibly one day attempt the life states challenge. However, I would like to be able to save a game again. I would love to have my decatownies back, but I'm wondering if I shouldn't uninstall and reinstall the base game and every expansion pack.   :'(

Is anyone else having this problem? Thank you Ricalynn and Pam!!!
