Just loaded up my dynasty file for the first time after patching. It was paused when I saved (even with it having no effect, I always did that). It opened up...paused!

That's good to know.     Roommates have been in the game or did you mean something else Wiry?  That's the only time they've said anything about rent as far as I know was with University.

I mean in any of the talk of the patch or expansion did they ever say you could so something like rent residential lots out to townies for money?
Judging by your answer, I'd say nope.

Man, being able to move towns without file shenanigans would be really swell for long generational games. I don't hold out real hope for it being acceptable for dynasties (I do, however, hold out crazed 'that wouldn't really happen, but oh, wow, it'd be so awesome' hope, if you could move certain furnishings like portraits), but for a legacy, it may be really great. Stilt-houses are a really neat addition, and yay for skill bug fixes!

Maybe not, as it will still carry over the file, so perhaps it will be just as bad, if not worse.

Can anyone test the moving town system to see if it will maintain family tree relations etc.? As in will it keep an unabridged family tree of all dead relations?

You have a point there. I heard it ditched the old town's information, though, so maybe not? Clearly, I need to go do some testing. To create junk-sims, away!

I wonder if it will carry over file size. If I did that, then my legacy file would be over 6gb by now ( I recently added up all the file sizes before deleting previous towns)

My understanding from things they said before was it will if you take the tombstones with you.

75% downloaded, can't wait to try some of this out, think I shall leave my dynasty alone till I'm sure it hasn't broken more than it's fixed though.

Remember... Townie DecaDynasties can change town twice.

As for the move - I made sure with Graham when it was announced that the file size would be able to get smaller.  The reason for this is because you leave behind anyone that is not in the active household.  You will not be able to retain relationships just like if you moved town now.  There are a few very specific things that you can keep and not keep from my understanding.

There will also be a list when you change towns.  I'm going to take the Licious Ones and have a good time since they're done anyway.

Edit: You can only have one lot set as your active home.

When you purchase another Additional Home it is basically the same as buying a property. Except only one home can be "active" at one time it seems - like Vacation Homes. You can still edit the inactive homes and go to them but you edit them the same way you edit a purchased property.

Edit: Three Pillar/Pier Foundations are included in the patch!

You don't live on one home or the other.  You live in a town and they can interact with both lots like they are your home.  You don't lose access to a second one.  You just gain buy mode for a second one.

Edit: My download finally started so I'll know more really soon as Artie gets him several lots of his own.

Oh, wow! That is just amazing! Oh my gosh I could do so much with that. So much. Think of the possibilities for Dynasties! You could buy another lot for the museum or mausoleum! Yes, I know that needs to be approved first, but it's an idea! Not to mention if you had a kid get married and you wanted to keep controlling them but also let them have their own space! Oh, this is cool!

Edit: Oh, okay. So you have to pick one. Well it would still work for the museum and mausoleum idea, especially since you could place a Sculpting station and do the sculptures on site! Or better yet, if you have access to your family inventory in both lots (and I don't see why you would not) then you can do the sculptures at home and then put them in Family Inventory and take them out in the other lot!

You can already do your mausoleum and museum on separate lots.  It's not against the rules.    People have been doing it for a while.  It's just not always practical.  Especially since it might be easier to lose all those items when trying to save the family.

Yes, you could do it on another lot, but before you didn't have access to family inventory! I don't know what I'm talking about, I'm just excited.  :-[

Here's a picture of the three pillars available as pier foundations:

A new Spiral Staircase without railings:

Ladders can only be placed if there is a floor tile either to the left or the right of the top and bottom of the ladder it appears. As shown in the picture Rabbit goes off at the side.

It's ok to be excited!

You cannot move to the town you are already in.

Hitting the Save button is just like hitting Save as.

And this is when something went horribly wrong.    At least the button to go to previous town was there.
