Do you think that sometimes we expect too much? I mean we get bombarded with teaser trailers, there is so much talk for months in advance and somehow it never is quite as good as it appears to be?

RunAmokSims, I've learned (maybe it's muh old-age or I'm jaded!  ;) ) not to expect too much from Expansion Packs / Stuff Packs. It's hard to tell how your own style of play is gonna' mesh with what toys they offer in the sandbox. For example, I really thought Open for Business looked lame as all-get-out in the Sims2, and it turned out to be one of the "funnest" Expansions they offered in the Sims2 (for me, of course! I know other folks that loved Pets, and I hardly touched any of that content in-game, other than to make some cats).

However, the "stream" of new content / game-play the Expansions / Stuff Packs offer players is a major reason the Sims Franchise has done so well over time (and why those of us who may not be playing for a while "come back" when new content is offered or a new Expansion Pack rolls out). I just try not to get over-excited or buy-in to the enthusiasm that explodes in the Sims Community when a new Stuff or Expansion pack is announced.

And HappyTime, thanks a million!

Awe PieLord, you are quite welcome!

And my thanks to Saltypaws and Pam for those links, this is a big board, there's lots to discover!

Hopeless future as a simmer? Wow, that sounds depressing. :P
Haha, if you really are that desperate: start creating your own world. It's fun and really timeconsuming. That way you have a lot to do. And when you finished: ring my bell. I will more than like to see what you've made of it.

I'm actually feeling alot better now thanks to everyones replies and my brand new legacy. Having a blast. Also, I'm getting Ambitions in about a week! Super excited.
Thanks for your concern, BTW what should I do first when I get Ambitions? Inventing sounds awesome.

I recently discovered the Asylum Challenge from a thread in this forum's Graveyard. With a household of eight insane people and only one playable character, things get insanely fun. Pam did the whole challenge in a day or something, but my game dragged on too long and the interactions became repetitive and boring. Maybe you'd make more interesting crazies than I did!

I love making crazies. I give them one redeeming trait and all the others are things like insane, neurotic and other traits that go hand in hand. Some of the small things really amuse me. I love how they can be wearing any outfit at any given time and they talk to them selves.

Another trait that cracks me up is the good sense of humor. I love it when a Sim is just crossing a room and breaks out laughing to their own private joke.

I also have a new interaction I never saw before. I have an over emotional Simbot that goes into mourning every time an appliance breaks.

It's not that I'm bored of Sims... it's just that I need goals and well wishes/career paths/etc. aren't enough after they're exhausted by specially made Sims to try aspects of the game out. I would really appreciate some info on how people play the game generally. For example- whether or not people just make a unique family in a new game, play a little and then switch households in that same game so as to fill the town with known Sims or whatever. Sorry if I'm not making any sense but from what I've read from everyone I'm Just Not Caught In The Whole Atmosphere. My main aim in this topic, though, is to figure out how to play legacies, I've tried...and it isn't pretty the way it ends up lol. I am an ambrosia fanatic and end up with a full household, or even, if I let them die I end up with no-one because I don't bother with relationships. I tend to favor logic, gardening, fishing, handiness and cooking in almost all my Sims too....so I mess up traits. And I also ALWAYS end up making my Sims rich, one way or another (usually martial arts and tiberium combo), ruining the game play within days of in-game time.
So as a conclusion, I am being utterly boring in-game and fast running out of creativity which I probably get from playing the older Sims 1 and 2 too much. HELP!!        :(

The Legacy challenge is what's keeping me interested right now. I downloaded 'Family Tree Builder' and amuse myself by trying to keep track of all the different branches. My boyfriend thinks I'm insane. The generation thing isn't dificult for me, I just find myself with nothing for elders to do. They've reached their goals. They end up painting, alot. And as for the money, the more you make, the more points you can put on your score card! I found an excel based score card that makes the challenge alot easier to understand!

Anyways, that's what keeps me playing =)

Playing legacies would make me nuts. I don't like raising the kids. It was cute the first time, teaching them to walk and all the rest, but I'm a real been there, done that person. Once I know I can do something it's "well, what's next?"

Now that's encouraging! I'm not sure if my founder will meet her LTW before she dies, and I thought that might be the undoing of the legacy. Now I see I can make up for that later, if need be.

Ooo, that sounds fun! I almost never bother with the non-skill traits unless I do random traits or can't pick their traits. Sounds like they are really entertaining. One of my potential heirs in my legacy is neurotic actually (still a baby though), should be interesting if he does become the heir LOL.

What's her LTW?

She's the one I mentioned in another thread, the founder who has the Astronaut LTW, but spent more than 2 sim weeks on maternity leave, due to her 3-day work week. She's an elder now, and the 3-day week is still working against her as her life-clock ticks. I was thinking in human terms when I chose the career (more time for the family, fewer work days). Some things don't apply to sim lives.
