Creating a house built into a slope - help?

Hello fellow Simmers, I'm hoping you can help with my dilemma. I want to build a house where the bottom floor is half-exposed - basically, built into a slope, but with the earth flush against the side of the house instead of a gap. I've seen others do it, but I don't know how it works!

There's probably a tutorial that does it, but I've no idea where to start. Can someone point me in the right direction?
