Send Sims to University Without Playing Them

Hi. Thanks for this great site.

Is it possible to send a sim to university but continue playing my main town while the student is away?

My 4 weeks in the university town were a chore, and I'd prefer to just send sims away for a week or two, then have them return with their degrees.

If that isn't possible, can I enroll a sim for university, quickly choose a different active family before the student leaves town, then switch back to my main family once the student's gone?

Others may correct me, but to my knowledge, you can't do any of those. However, you can just buy them a degree from the Lifetime Rewards - I believe it's 50,000 points.
