I don't have a clue as to who the Goth's are, except what I have seen in SV.  And that isn't much.  Just a strange family who are into gothic looks.

So, someone, please fill me in on the background.

And I guess my lack of knowledge will excuse my still believing that Luther does have some good in him.  My son says that I am so gullible.  I told him that if it lets me have a heart, that's okay with me.  He is a complete cynic and says that only 10% of the people (in any nations, even ours) have any good in them.   Statistics backs him up.  I told him that in my opinion statistics is just a replacement word for what it really is sadistics.  I took statistics class in college, I know what it is.
It's a reference to the fantastic "Gothic Legacy" written by ILoveDolls.  It's in the legacy section of the forum.  You should check it out.

Janna! I have the link for you to the legacy. It's fabulous and full of crazy interesting characters. Not very many people with good in them, but it's a good read. Solanine shows up around page... 11? Maybe.

Also, a fun fact. The Goth family is a family that goes as far back as the sims 1. Mortimer and Bella Goth were a playable family. They had a daughter, Cassandra Goth. In the Sims 2, there was a story about how Bella went missing (probably abducted by aliens) and in the Sims 3, Gunther is the father(? Grandfather?) of Mortimer, and Bella is a young girl in the neighborhood. They are a Sims Staple family!

Um, awkward. But I had to change the last sentence of my last update. I was too excited to introduce Miss Goth to you that I made a boo-boo in regards to my narrative. EMBARRASSING.

Baby Name Contest:

Hey, so I had a weird idea. It's gonna be a few more days before I can update and while we're waiting, I thought I might try and engage you. I have not said point-blank what the 5 traits are for Oswin or Luther. So if anyone can guess either of their 5 correctly, you can name one of the babies. So, any one of the babies being born now or in the future. (If you guess both Oswin AND Luther's traits correctly first, then you can name 2 babies) You can claim it during a pregnancy. If that baby winds up being the heir, then Huzzah! You named an heir. But I won't take super silly or offensive names! So Galactic Superstar McAwesomeville? That's a no. Sharleen? Weird, but all right. Poopmouth? No. I think you get it.

Thanks to some questions from Gwendy, I'm gonna make this a little less vague! So, you should PM me your guesses unless you don't mind other people seeing them, in which case you can post them here. I'll respond with how many of your guesses are correct. You're allowed to guess 3 times per day until you get it right or until someone else gets it right.

Happy guessing!

Chapter 14: Auntie Dearest

"Is this my granddaughter, Luther?" Morgan-Solanine asked him, bending down to place her hands to Delilah's arm's, her slender fingers curling around the girl's gray limbs. "She looks very much like you. And she has my eyes. Stunning." She released Delilah's arms and straightened again.

Oswin just stood, mouth agape as she watched this woman navigate her life as if she had been in it for years.

"Ozzie. It is so nice to see you again," she said, embracing the girl. Oswin felt as if she had been dunked in ice water as this woman hugged her.

"Morgan Daye," Oswin said, still processing. "That's... you're my...?"

"Your aunt, Darling. Your father's sister."

"Oh! All of the books say you've been missing for years!"

"I've been in hiding. The Empire was not very kind to me after your father died, unfortunately. But now that I hear you are fixing it all up, I thought I should come out of the wood work and help you," Solanine said, patting Oswin's cheek perhaps just a bit too sharply.

"Ow," she muttered, rubbing her face. "Luther, can we talk for a moment?" Oswin asked, gripping him by the cuff of his sleeve before he had a chance to protest and leading him up the stairs.

"Luther, are you kidding me?' She gasped once they were out of earshot.

"Wha--" Luther began.

"We're cousins! First cousins! And you kissed me. And you knew all along! That's so... so... very squicky of you," she accused with a wag of her finger.

"Oh," Luther said. He had forgotten that was the lie he would have to go with if Solanine showed up. "Well, I don't think I was quite thinking about it that way when I--"

"I don't think you were thinking at all, to be completely honest with you! And another thing," she shout-whispered, her voice squeaking at the end with the force of her fury.

"Luther? Oswin? Come down here. It's rude to abandon your company."

Oswin shot a glare at Luther. "We are not finished," she said before she walked back down the stairs.

"I hear," Aunt Morgan-Solanine said. "That you have been learning to harness your magic."

"Oh," said Oswin. "Yeah, but I'm hardly--"

"Perfect. You'll dual me then."

"I'll what? No, no. I couldn't possibly."

"Go on, Dear. I'm sure you're better than you think."

"I'm not--" Oswin said, but Solanine was already drawing her wand. "On your mark."

Oswin took a few steps back, hand to her pocket for her wand. She noticed that her aunt's wand was much different than hers. It was elegant and made of crystal. Her own was cumbersome and made of cheap wood. Where could she get something more suited to her? "Come on, girl. Don't keep me waiting." The tried patience in her aunt's voice had mostly disappeared.

Oswin took out her wand and nodded.

Her aunt was quick. Before she had a moment to think, the spell had engulfed her. She gasped in shock at the suddenness of the spell.

"Afraid, Baby?" Aunt Morgan asked.

"No," she cried. She lurched forward with a fury that spurred a return strike.

Shots fired back and forth through an intense volley before a surge of energy pulsed through her and Oswin's spell hit her aunt square in the chest, surprising the both of them.

Reeling, Oswin was caught completely off guard. The spell that was shot back at her knocked her completely off her feet.

Solanine strode across the floor and stood over her. "Just because you get one good shot does not mean you've won the battle," she said, her voice hard. "Don't forget it."

Oswin shivered as her aunt stepped over her and crossed the hall to the kitchen.

Okay, Solanine is being pretty awesome. Also, it's a good thing she won the duel. (The Goths do have a reputation to keep. Have to see Raven angry that someone ruined it.)

Solanine was actually helpful and a good, though harsh, teacher just then.  How sweet.  Make her trust you, then destroy her to clear the path for Delilah  :=)

She'd have to win the duel against a girl who'd just learned she had magical abilities a few years ago! How angry Raven would be if she'd lost.

Solanine is amazingly fun to write! There's a lot of layers and she has many sinister thoughts that are great fodder for my story!

Thanks for letting me use Sola, Dolls! She's a fantastic addition to my characters and she's super BA.

She also has a great pair of... eyes.

Chapter 15: Shady Practices

"Oz, are you all right?" Luther asked her, offering her a hand to help her up.

She took it gladly and moved to her feet. "She's tough," Oswin muttered, rubbing her backside where she had landed on the hardwood floor.

"You did pretty well," he said with a grin. "Except for the whole winding up on your back part. But, you know."

"Shush," she said and then suddenly gasped. "Come see my son!" The arrival of Luther's mother had turned everything on its head.

She rushed into the nursery and scooped up her son. "He's beautiful, Luther. I haven't even named him yet!"

"Thinking of anything?"

"I don't know. Darrien sounds nice."

"That's a peasant's name if I've ever heard one," Solanine's cool voice said from the doorway. She walked over and observed the child. "He's special. Don't you want a special name for him?"

"Of course I do," Oswin said, frowning.

"Then you'll listen to me. My old friend Peregrine had a name for a special child."

"What name is that?"

"Oblique," she said, touching the child's face.

"I don't know if...--"

"Oblique is perfect," Solanine said. "Don't you think so, Darling?" Her eyes met Oswin's, her gaze sharp and unquestionable.

"Oh. Well. I do like it."

"Good. I'm sure he'll grow into it."

Oswin was spared from answering by the second chiming of the doorbell that day. She held her son in her arms and walked to answer the door. It was a paparazzo, calling on Oswin for an interview.

"It's truly you, then?" The woman gasped, clapping her hands together. "Oswin Daye! Sweet girl, you must tell me your story! All of Aurora Skies should know that their Empress is back!"

"It would be an honor, Miss," Oswin said with a kind smile. "Come and sit with me and we'll talk."

Within the next few days, Oswin became a low-key celebrity. Not everyone knew about her return, but many did and word was spreading quickly. She would need to become a household name in Aurora Skies before she could move onto the next city-state. But her status wasn't the only thing growing during that time. Both Leo and Delilah celebrated milestone birthdays.

Leo became a child and was embracing his potential rise to the throne due to his lineage.

And Delilah was turning heads as she entered into her teenage years.

She was a stunning, sharp-witted girl who was constantly turning away suitors at the door. When she decided so, she would have anyone she wanted. And that was certainly a fact.

"Oblique," Oswin said, rocking her son gently. "You're getting so handsome."

She brushed his hair back and smiled as his eyes closed.

But Oswin wasn't the only one with a fondness for her second son.

Solanine had taken an immediate liking to the boy and spent a good deal of her time with him, much to Oswin's surprise and discomfort. What could she want with her son?

"What is that awful witch doing with our son?" Chin asked Oswin, his hackles raised.

"I don't know," she said, not even bothering to scold him about being rude. "I suppose it's not terribly strange. She's fond of Delilah too."

"I don't like it. I'm going to give her a piece of my mind."

"Chin. Don't be rash," she warned him as he stalked out of the room.

"Stay away from my son," Chin growled as he approached Solanine.

She sniffed the air briefly before she turned around. "Hmm. Do I smell wet dog?" She asked him.

"Stay away from my son," he said again.

"I think you're overreacting. If anyone should stay away from children, I think, sweet Jaw, that it's you."

"What are you talking about?" He asked her, frowning deeply.

"I mean that episode with my granddaughter where you chased her out into the street in a violent rage. I don't think you're suited to be anywhere near children. And I plan to ensure my darlings are safe from beasts such as you."

"Is that a threat?"

"You can set your watch by it," she purred before walking past him and out the door.

"Mr. Prado," Luther said charmingly. "Is your wife at home? I hear you two have a lovely new baby girl. Congratulations."

"Why thank you, Luther. Come in," he said, inviting the man inside.

The man nodded to Luther and then headed upstairs to get some work done. Luther bent and picked up the blonde child, feeling not an ounce of connection to her.

"Luther, what are you...?" Kassidy asked him, meeting him in the doorway.

"Meeting my daughter," he said, handing the girl back to her mother.

"Shhh," she hissed. "My husband does not know that."

"That's all right. He doesn't need to. I require no claim on her, and as payment for my keeping my mouth closed, I will not be mailing you any child support checks. Are we clear?"

"But, Luther..."

"You ask me for one cent, and I will blow open this thing so wide, it'll suck in the whole town," he said, his tone leaving no room for argument. He left, Kassidy staring agape at his back.

If Breagadoir and Luther ever ended up in the same town, I think they might have it repopulated with their own children within a Simweek.
Nice update.  I'm enjoying watching Solanine in this.  She's evil.  We know she's evil.  But we aren't seeing her do anything blatantly evil.  Loving the suspense.

Lol. What a man does to keep from paying child support!

O Luther, I'm sure you're good for it. Need grandma to send you some cash?
