How To Grown An Omni Plant?
« on: June 10, 2013, 05:14:11 PM »
I had a sim be a scientist and when you get to the highest level they say you can grown an omni plant.  How do you do that.  I tried reading online and some people say you have to plant a steak, eggs, and something else but I can't plan those.  The most I can do is place them on the ground.  I also read that you get the seeds in the mail but that didn't happen either.

I think for the PC game it is an opportunity. That's all I know but if it somehow relates to the Console then it could be the same thing. I am not sure. Sorry I have not been a big help, but that's all I know.
I love this forum and just want to say thank you to everyone! :) Have a great rest of your day!

EDIT: Sorry, I didn't realize this was for the non-PC section. That I don't know much about, sorry.

I've played both the pc version and on the PS3. It's the same. You need to get an opportunity from the Bistro to provide 20 very nice or better fruits or veggies to learn to plant some interesting things. When you complete that you learn to plants eggs and cheese. From there you have to wait for an opportunity to provide 8 excellent cheeses. You learn to plant steaks and burger patties. The last in the series is to provide 10 outstanding steaks. The reward is Omni plant seeds. I've played lots of gardeners!

A note, if it is the same as the PC version, the opportunities are Uncommonly Good, Outstandingly Rare, and The Omnificent Plant.

The skill you need for the Omni Plant is Gardening.  When your Sim reaches a high level, like maybe level 7, the chain of opportunities will start.  Your Sim will be level 10 by the time the Omni Plant itself comes.  As for ordering the seeds, that's after you've completed the last opportunity and been given your first supply of Omni seeds.  When you want to order more, do so at the mailbox and they will arrive in the mail the next day.

I've been on level 10 gardening for a while.  The most I got so far for opportunities was for a sim to request I plant 3 fruits or vegetables I believe of outstanding quality.  Is this the start of my opportunities?  Other than that I haven't had a request for anything related to that.  I'm sorry I meant to say this is for The Sims 3 Pets for PS3.  That probably makes a difference.

No, it's the ones listed I think. Sometimes it takes a long time. I had one gardener who was at level 10 for a long time before getting the 20 veg request. He died before getting to plant the Omni plant. Just hang in there and save perfect produce for the next generation gardener.

As KRae said, it can take a long time.  It's rather random and can appear early or late in the gardening career.  Or not at all, even.  It's just whatever the game decides to do.  When they come, the opportunities should be like this:

Uncommonly Good - Bring in however many excellent pieces of produce specified.  After completing this opportunity, your Gardener will be able to grow cheese and egg plants.

Outstandingly Rare - Bring in 10 excellent cheeses, Gardener will then be able to plant hamburger patties and steaks.

The Omnificent Plant - Bring in 10 outstanding steaks, Gardener will then be able to plant the Omni plant.

By knowing what the next opportunity will require, you can focus on getting that particular produce up to the high quality required.

Thanks. :)  I did some reading and there are also two possibilties, one is that if your sim has maxed out levels in a lot of skills it can take a really long time (which my sim has) and another possibility is that if your sim is doing an activity related to gardening it may stimulate a step in that process--like you may get a call or something later that day.  I tried that and it didn't work.  My sim is an elder so I think it's a very small chance he'll be alive before the first step.  Luckily they just had a baby who now is a child so I can have him have gardening as his skill and hopefully that works better.  I know I have to wait until he's a teen I think.

OK so yesterday I finally got a call to do the uncommonly good part.  I had already started planting a flame fruit, garlic, and something else.  i just had to keep harvesting until I got 20 fruits and vegetables.  I could have saved myself some waiting by going across the street to the garden there and harvest some of their stuff.  I thought about that after. :P

Anyway, when my sim comes home from being at the Lobster Blues Restaurant he dies.  I was also working on making ambrosia so he would live a little longer but my life plant wasn't matured yet, but I already had a few death fish.  I used the karma power to bring him back to life.  But, it doesn't say he's retired anymore just unemployed.  Is the uncommonly good canceled out now that he died?  Also, after I brought the fruits and vegetables to the restaurant it said come back when your sim has level 9 gardening but he has mastered the gardening skill.  Am I still waiting for a phone call for the next part?

Considering that most of us who have been answering play the PC version of the game and it doesn't have the karma thing, I really don't know if you've lost your progress or not.  As for being told to come back when your Sim is a level 9 Gardener, that doesn't mean anything.  Level 9 is generally when that opportunity fires, but it's really quite random in reality.  If I were to guess, I would say that your Sim is probably still active in the opportunity chain.  Check to see if he can plant cheese and eggs.  If so, that part at least has remained and there's a chance he'll get the call for the next step.

Thanks, I guess only time will tell.  I planted three egg plants and cheese plants after the first part was finished but I could try to plan another and see.

As an update, today the same sim that did uncommonly good and died and was revived got called to do the second task so that's good.  I did buy an egg and he was able to plant it so I had hope that he could continue.
