How do you download a gift from the store?
« on: June 09, 2013, 12:00:34 AM »
I was recently gifted an item and today, I realised I hadn't yet downloaded it. :-[ So I went to my purchase history in the store, where I found that it wasn't lifted. Curious, I went to my email, where I knew I had been emailed the notification of the gift, but following the links there (one to the gifter, and two to the item), the store seemed to not have recognised the gift, as I just got the "Buy Now" button instead of "Download" underneath the SimPoint cost.

Am I missing something obvious, or should I contact EA Support? If so, how do I, I've never needed to in my time of playing Sims 3 (since release in '09).

Give the Store a day to show it in your purchase history.  If it doesn't show up then, contact EA support and have the email on hand.   Origin live chat seems to be the fastest support I've gotten for this game.

Also, double check that you're signed in on the official Sims 3 site when you go to the Store.  No, I never tried to download something without being signed in.  Nope, never at all.  ;D

Definitely signed in, 100% sure of that. ;)

I was gifted this item about two weeks ago. Still, I can wait another day. I'll check again tomorrow and report back. :)

Update: A few days ago I finally got through to EA Support via Live Chat (I managed to find a good time -- I've been getting 45 minute wait times, and when I have 5 minute wait times I'm always having to leave my computer). The support person was nice but was unable to locate the gift on my account. He escalated my case to the "Specialist Team". Early this morning I received an email, the Customer Support person gave me the SimPoints needed to purchase it (plus a little more), and in a few minutes I should be the happy new owner of a few items more. ;)
