There is always room for change and I think it will be a welcome change.  In no way I am getting bored with the sims now, but this game sounds so interesting and I have always liked wizards and such.  I have a collection of pewter wizards and dragons.  I love magic and witches and kinda miss them from the first sims.  I guess it is just personal preference.  Some will like it and some won't. :)
Is it true that cannibals don't eat clowns because they taste funny?

I guess you got to put that stuff somewhere. I'm a huge fairy fan and like stuff like that but I'm usually not intrested in things like that. It really is just personal preference, but if it's open-ended like other Sims games then maybe...

Seems to be a big difference in price. I went into EB games today to see if they had a release date (I wasn't up to date with this forum post) and possibly pre-order it. Well the guy says te release date here in AU is March 24 (or 25th can't remember) and the price will be about $99 for the standard game or about $120 for the limited edition one. He wasn't sure though if the limited edition was going to be available here and said to come bak in about 2 weeks and they would have all the details. If those prices are correct, this might be one that I'll buy on-line (if I decide to get it)

Are the games discs any different for Australian computers?  Do you have any family over in the UK?  The prices you were quoted are over twice as high as what I'd pay here in the UK.  I've just checked Amazon here and the current discounted pre-order price for the Limited Edition is £29.99 - according to an on-line conversion that is $48 AU.  Oh just thought of the snag - I suppose that import or customs duty would be payable.   :-\

On a brighter note, I'm looking forward to this coming out.  I think that it will be fun to play for a change of scenery and pace.

I'm hoping that it will have the same pc specs as the existing games.  I haven't spotted any info on the specs anywhere yet, so fingers crossed.

ETA Just spotted the specs:

Not sure about the customs or import duty, but I have bought books from US Amazon and not had to pay anything. The US Amazon price for pre-ordering the limited edition is $49US and with the strong Aussie dollar that is basically what it would be in AU$ I put one in my basket to see what the postage would be, but it came up that they won't ship it to a PO Box so I couldn't continue without changing my details.
I think I will probably get it, so now I have that price, I'm going to the other game shops to get a price before I decide. EB Games say they will price match.. wonder if they would match Amazon? lol probably not.

As for a difference in game discs, Amazon mention differences in some gaming discs, but PC games are not mentioned, so I'm thinking there are no differences. Anyone know for sure?

I live in the U.K and I just checked on Amazon and it costs 29:99 about$48  for the limited edition and 24:99 about $40 for the normal one. To get it on the day it is released is 2:03 about $3:24 postage and packing.

It looks like it is coming out separately on the PC and the Mac so those of us with both, will have to decide which version we want. :(

I've just been re-watching the trailers.  Noticed that the rooms seem to have fixed viewpoints. Only three walls, like looking into a dolls house.  I hope I'm wrong because that might be a little irritating to play, especially coming from TS3 where we can see all four walls of our houses and rotate a full 360.

There won't be a difference in game disk. It costs me about $99 for Sims 3 when it came out here in NZ. $99 is a standard price for brand new games in Australia/New Zealand and the exchange rate doesn't affect the price, they just get more profit. I just checked online for our release date and it is the March 25th and the prices are $99 NZD and $109, but they are on sale for $10 cheaper.

For Aussies, I believe goods have to be in excess of $1,000 before you are charged duty.

Well, I take back what I said about separate Mac/Win versions because the Amazon version seems to be for both.  Anyway, I have just pre-ordered a copy.  Postage to Australia is $20.00 so total cost $69.95.  Bargain. ;)

Excellent Figwit!  I'm most likely going to be pre-ordering myself - I'm really excited about this!

It will be a separate stand alone site with its own website address.  We actually just decided on the name for it tonight.  Carl's Sims Medieval Guide.  We won't have a separate Forum for it, though.  I'll probably just make a Sims Medieval board here for discussions.

I am getting more and more excited about all this!  Pam and Metro, do you think we might be able to consider having a Medieval challenge or two?  Please?  (note the begging  ;D)

There should definitely be some challenges for Medieval, but let's focus on getting it and writing a complete guide for it first, shall we?  ;)

It's basically up to Carl if the numbers he looks at warrants a brand new forum. I've already told him that if he feels an entirely separate forum makes sense, then I'll design Medieval's own Tournament with individual challenges.
