Once upon a time, I was supposed to move to Dragon Valley.  I was young and ready and with my mother's blessing, I had my marque tattooed into my back - the family ruins signifying me as the founder.  But I never made it out of the city.  I was pregnant with Emmaline and even though it was a setback, I was sure that I could still do it.  I was going to break the curse on the Bliss line once and for all.

Little did Emmy know the burden I was putting on her.  She never even had a chance to try, because before she was even born, I'd left her father, and she'd never know him, much less be best friends with him.

I was wild in my youth.  And selfish.  But I'm going to make it right.

I left three daughters behind in Moonlight Falls.  The Bliss family has deep roots there, though the girls don't know it.  They will as they read the book I've sent them, though.  They will.

Once upon a time, Dragon Valley was a country called Effenmont.  Elfin people with pale skin, hair, and eyes lived secretly on the land, unknown to everyone.

When a Simlish envoy found them, they were open to trade and sent their prince to marry the Simlish queen.  The prince, however, fell in love with the witch living in the kingdom's wizard quarters and they ran away together, back to Effenmont, the witch heavy with child.

I've researched this thoroughly and have transcribed it the best I can for my daughters, though I doubt they'll pay much heed.

The baby was born, a girl named Orin.  She was the first mix of Effenmonti and Simlish blood and a dangerous bringer of magic.  Her presence radiated ancient things, buried deep within the earth, and the Elfin people of Effenmont's capital found themselves changing.  Vampires, wolves, fairies ... things long gone were resurfacing.

Orin's parents disappeared.  The once beloved prince was no longer in favor with the people and they grew suspicious and hateful toward the remaining child and all of the supernaturals that had grown in town.  They banished them all, in a traveling hoard, back across the sea.

The old palace is now just a ruin atop a hill here in Dragon Valley.

Orin left her own curse behind on the people.  In a brilliant flash of light, she sent a scattershot of color through the village.  If the Effenmonti people detested variation, this was the worst possible fate.  They were now a rainbow people and their Elfin magic, locked in the eggs of the dragons they fostered, were sealed under Orin's spell, fossilized forever.

She cursed them and with their last blow to her and her nomadic group of followers, they cursed her right back.  Her curse is a complicated thing and it carries in her line.  One day I'll explain it in better detail.  She and her supernatural followers eventually settled in Moonlight Falls, which is today's capital of the supernatural Simlish culture.

I am her direct descendant.  Like my ancestress, Orin, wherever I go, the supernatural follows.  And now I am back, my marque visible for anyone who knows the story (though I doubt many do), and I've set up house in a little trailer I've managed to construct for myself in the valley.

I am a loner and not one to be too open about what I'm after.  I decided to hone my new angler skill to profit and registered with the city as a fisherwoman while I waited to see who the supernatural would choose and how.

I am a virtuoso and long for a guitar.  I played when I was a girl, but because this is not my first attempt at this dynasty, my skills have been reset.  I did stumble upon an abandoned violin in the fairegrounds, which I've taken home.  It is a challenge, but I am building my skill slowly and surely.

In fact, this town is rife with things to be discovered and taken.  The culture seems to be one of shared ownership.  When I spotted some of the famous fossilized dragon's eggs in the basement of the library, I couldn't help myself.  They'd remind me of my heritage back at the trailer.

Imagine my surprise, when I laid them down on the floor that night and they started to shake.

To me, this was a sign that Orin was watching and approved of this effort.  Part of her curse was lifted and for the first time in millennia, there were dragons in the land again.  I would be the proud owner of two.

Shimmer is purple, like me, and a sweet tempered little thing.

Obsidian is more reserved, but fiercely loyal.  They already seem a part of me.

In fact, I am rarely without them.  Shimmer in particular is a great help with making friends.  Especially as I am uneasy in crowds.

She has the ability to summon new friends for me, though they aren't always particularly well matched.  The one I've grown fondest of is a Human man named Braden.  He's a pro athlete and we have nothing at all in common, but I feel comfortable around him.  Like a sibling.

He hits on me as often as possible, but I somehow feel like he wouldn't like it if I ever actually tried to move our relationship in a romantic direction.  He's not supernatural anyway.

He does get me out of dynasty mode now and then, though, which is a blessing in and of itself.

I have been honing my magic skills in private.  It wouldn't do to expose myself when I'm the only one.  I am, however, making very good progress.

With fishing as well, I am bringing in a comfortable income for myself.

Unfortunately, while I eventually found over half a dozen attractive, male supernaturals in town, they are all witches, just like me.  It was frustrating.

At least I did manage the first of my unique wish requirements.  Congratulate me on maxing out my fishing skill!

I celebrated with a special purchase for myself.

As the winds grew chillier and winter started to fall on Dragon Valley, I started to lose hope.  I took long walks, wondering if I should just go ahead and plan on a genie lamp for my spouse choice when I met him.

I knew immediately that he'd been hit with an errant charm by another witch in town, but that didn't stop the pit of my stomach from dropping to my toes when he approached out of the silent evening and kissed me.

We didn't speak at all that first night.  I dragged him by the hand toward my little trailer, stopping along the way to kiss again and again.

I won't go into the details of our evening.  I'm sure you can guess.  There's nothing quite like the thrill of an anonymous tryst with a dangerous stranger.  Maybe I haven't grown up very much after all.

In any sense, he was still there in the morning.

Yes, the waiting has paid off: another Tilia dynasty! I didn't know what I'd do when the Classics ended!

Your founder is very lovely. As is the town she's living in  :) .

Double Post ahead

Yes, the waiting has paid off: another Tilia dynasty! I didn't know what I'd do when the Classics ended!

Your founder is very lovely. As is the town she's living in  :) .

Thanks!  She turned out great, I think.  I also didn't know what I'd do when the Classics ended :)

Yay, glad you're reading!

So glad you're starting another story! I love the way you worked Effenmont from TSM in.

It seems to fit, especially the bit about how DV isn't navigable to normal Sims.

Very interesting beginning!  :) And a very intriguing storyline.

Thank you!  Looking forward to your comments

---------

I've always been quick to fall in love.  I suppose you could call it both a strength and a weakness.  With Aaron, I think it was a strength.  He moved in after a very brief courtship, bringing with him a staggering amount of money.  Enough to build a starter house.

We exchange jokes about our conflicting life states.  He says I bewitched him and I counter that for me, it was love at first bite.  We imagine our children will roll their eyes and hope we don't pun in front of their friends.

He had to break it off with a few romantic interests he'd built around town.  They didn't take it well, but when you've met the one, there's nothing that can reset the clock on half-there romantic entanglements.

For my part, I worked diligently on meeting my requirements.  I couldn't wait to be pregnant again, to welcome a new baby into the world.

It took relatively little time for both Aaron and I to wish for marriage.  I don't like crowds at all, which is indulged by my charismatic politician of a husband, so we wed privately in the foyer of our new home.

We spent three days honeymooning in China.

I was able to catch a variety of exotic, well priced fish there that would boost my career.

Aaron spent the time exploring tombs to build our net worth so we can continue expanding the house, though build/buy is always a risk right now.

When we got back home, the snow had started to fall.  Aaron devoted a few days to mastering a new chemistry station.  He wants to make sure we're well stocked on young again potion for the duration of the dynasty.

I've always liked the cold, isolated winter, and used the time to work on my music while the ponds and lakes all froze over.

Aaron and I ventured out, enjoying the frozen beauty of Dragon Valley together in the little spaces of time I allowed between fishing excursions.

He found ways to spend time with me, even when I was working toward my requirements.

I was truly sad to see the winter end.  It had been an enchanted time for us newlyweds, discovering a new life together.

With spring came the final sprint to finish my requirements.  Braden, my still best friend, was a witch now, though getting older by the day.  I will miss him when he is gone.

To urge me on to finishing up, Aaron bought me a familiar.  A tiny siamese kitten named Hermes.

I don't think he could've found a better fit for a woman whose romantic interests have never stayed within her own life state.

And I do find that I'm skilling faster with him around.

In any sense, I was finally finished with my tasks and ready to make a baby.  I even perhaps went a bit overboard with my fishing trophies.

It was no time at all before I was pregnant.

Eamonn and the twins
« Reply #7 on: June 10, 2013, 06:11:59 PM »
You couldn't have asked for a more enthusiastic father-to-be.  Aaron was glowing brighter than me at the news.

He was immediately eager to communicate with our nooboo.  "Hello maybe-heir," he'd say.  "Do you have news for Daddy?"

I learned a few lullabies for piano as the guitar and violin were too cumbersome as I got larger.  I played for my baby-to-be.

By the time I went into labor, I was so impatient to meet the nooboo, I hardly even registered the pain.  Besides, I've done it thrice before.

I rushed home to give birth and after a few hours of waiting and panting, I got to meet my little boy, Eamonn Bliss.  He is a vampire and my heir.

Aaron and Hermes were both immediately besotted.  In fact, Aaron insisted we get started on more nooboos immediately.  "I want a daughter to finish the set," he joked.

True to his word, I was expecting again by the time Eamonn was ready for his toddler birthday.  I should've been worried about the workload, but it's hard to not become infected by Aaron's enthusiasm.

Besides, birthdays are a happy affair.  We took Eamonn for a final walk as an infant while the cake was cooling from the oven.  For a vampire, his traits - loves the outdoors and loves the heat - are hilariously ill suited, but he wont' develop his sun intolerance until he is much older.

His Daddy has jumped past that particular hurdle by becoming immortal with his lifetime reward points.  All of my vampiric children will have no choice but to do the same.

Eamonn aged up into a precious toddler who looks remarkably like me!

We set to task with his requirements immediately.  I am hoping we can finish them up and get him off to school before winter sets in.

I went into labor during a Eamonn's talking lessons.  First he said his first word.  "Meal."

I do hope he doesn't mean me.  Or my baby.  Or Hermes.

Then, while we were having a discussion about how he should only go out when the sun is down, I felt the first pang.

I gave birth to twin girls.  Twins!  It was very unexpected.  Lara and Colleen are both vampires like their father and brother.  It seems I will be the lone witch in this family.

We aged them up the next day.  Lara looks a lot like Eamonn and me, a fact I'll have to gloat over.

While Colleen shares my skintone, but has mystery blonde hair and her daddy's eyes.

Eamonn, though just a baby, seems to understand he has tasks to complete and has been at them very diligently.

Which is great, because his sisters are already a handful.  Lara has constant tantrums and hates being put down.  She reminds me of Emmy.

Colleen isn't quite so noisy but never manages to be ready for whatever we've got for her.  She doesn't eat when fed, she constantly has accidents on the changing table.  Oh, but I'm tired.

Honestly, though.  it is the best kind of tired.

Never have 3 Toddlers at Once
« Reply #9 on: June 13, 2013, 07:54:01 PM »
Without the help of my baby dragon, Obsidian, I might not have made it this far.  Eating and sleeping are luxuries right now that are more often than not skipped over.  Poor Eamonn would be getting dragon energy too if he were old enough, but instead he takes swing naps between skill builds.

His sisters are a proper handful.  They are already best friends with each other and do play nicely in the playpen from time to time to give Aaron and I a break.

My daughters from my former life never much got along, but I think Lara and Colleen are building a lifelong friendship peek-a-boo-ing in the playpen.

And Eamonn is freed up to finish his requirements.  I worry that he's not even aware he has sisters at this stage in his little life.

It was a rush to age him up so he wouldn't miss his opportunity for honor roll.  He blew out the candles after only a few days of toddlerhood.

We expanded the house as much as we can at present.  Funds aren't an issue, but crashing is.  We want to add another story to the tower and make the top level the mausoleum.  Perhaps after the next patch.

For now, it is at least a far cry from the little trailer I started in.

Eamonn's room is above the kitchen.  Aaron did most of the designing.  I think he'd live in the room himself if he could.

The girls have a room waiting for them upstairs as well, when they are old enough.  Aaron also designed this one.

Eamonn was thrilled and, quickly embracing his inner vampire, he chose appropriate clothing for his winter childhood.

He rolled animal lover for his next trait.  I've taken note of the fact that all of Eamonn's traits so far involve the word "Love."  This seems like a good omen to me!  I've never raised a vampire before, and now with three, Eamonn is probably the one it's easiest to relate to.

At least he never did this to his toys as a toddler:

Poor thing.  The doll I mean.  One day one of those might marry into the family after all.  Aaron is openly proud of her predatory impulses, though.  I've chided him more than once about picking favorites.

It's probably unfounded though.  Aaron's favorite child is whichever one he's spending time with at any given moment, I think.

He got us a Bonehilda (prompting the maid to immediately quit) and has his political donors over quite often.  Eamonn is so normalized to all of this that I think I'm the only one who occasionally feels startled in my own home.

Eamonn is perhaps just naturally well adjusted.  Instead of worrying that the snowing would ruin his requirements, he's been very zen about the whole thing.  He managed to complete a rock scavenger hunt on his snow day, which as he points out, "is equally important, mom."

I took care of the snow days.  It means putting off my age freeze for a while, but whatever.  Worth it.

The girls mastered every skill a toddler has access to.  Vampiric children learn crazy fast.

It's almost adult the way they look at you, their brains enhanced every time the sun goes down.

And then you remember they are just toddlers, and still need help with even the simplest things!

As it turns out, they aged up all on their own while the rest of us were knee-deep in other things.  Aaron will be thrilled to finally have new playmates.

And I think their big brother will enjoy having more people he knows at school.

One thing is certain.  They are both going to be insanely beautiful.  Dangerous, mind reading, beautiful vampiresses.  I must write my older girls and let them know!

It's not easy to admit that I've had to start over.  Failure is a difficult thing to accept.  Losing my sweet husband and three children to an alternate reality where they will live out their lives happily with another version of me is just too painful to think on.

And here I am again.  Back at the beginning.

I did a few things differently this time.  I didn't buy the plot of land directly next to the festival grounds, which will be a much quieter experience and I decided to get a proper job instead of fishing for a living.  I've joined the music career.

I bet you're wondering if I immediately sought out Aaron.  The answer is no.  We loved each other, yes, but you remember, don't you, that it was the result of a love spell.  I want to give him the opportunity to live his life on his own.  He may not even be a vampire this time around.

I did seek out my first friends in Dragon Valley, though.  Obsidian and Shimmer were right where they'd been the first time.

They will be with me through this trek no matter how many times I have to try it.

It is not Eamonn's fault that he didn't meet his requirements.  It is mine.  I was so anxious to get pregnant that I didn't even take into consideration the timing of my pregnancy.  The snow.  The holidays.  And then I had the girls so soon afterward, it was just an overwhelming amount of work.  I can't think about it too much or I'll become sad.

I suppose that's the rub of the curse.  We Bliss heirs.  Doomed to live the same days over and over until we meet our goals.  Hopefully my daughters are fairing better than I am.  Now that Eamonn is no longer an official heir, he won't be saddled with it.  And let's be frank here, I chose this.  I chose to found this dynasty.

My first consideration for new spouse was my boss, Sean.  He is a vampire with pink hair and a baby face.

It was going well, but a surprise visit from an otherworldly guest threw a wrench in my plans.  This is Peidax.  Dax for short.

Let's get one thing straight - Dax never abducted me.  That's rude and would've ruined any potential attraction.  He just kept showing up, night after night, though.  If I wasn't home or was too tired to hang out, he'd never push for it and we quickly became friends.

The most delightful thing about him may be that he's not supernatural due to my presence.  He is an alien!  Already what he is without Orin's curse giving him powers.  And he's so curious about us.  I told him Orin's story in the most dramatic fashion possible and he loved every second of it.

When he finally got up the nerve to ask me on a date, he took us to the restaurant in his saucer.  Most impressive ride a man has ever picked me up in!

Maybe his green hue and pointy ears reminded me of another green man in another life, but it wasn't long before I was sure that Dax was the one, resolving to make him part of my fledgling plan.

He told me about his home.  About how completely unremarkable it felt to stay there and about how fascinating we found us all.

And in no time, we were agreeing to start a life together, his commitment issues be darned.

It's funny, aside from his eyes, you'd never know Dax weren't Effenmonti by birth.  After getting hired on as a resident at the hospital, growing his hair out a bit, and settling in, he looked as human as the next person.

He favors navy blue and Chinese fashion.

And kept his old travel uniform for the cold months.  It's adorably strange looking.

He's spent his life honing his skills with technology and logic.  I've already used magic to upgrade a good deal of our appliances, but he likes to tinker on them anyway.

Sleeping next to him is unlike any man I've ever been with.  It was distracting at first, but now I find I wake up feeling more ... alert.  More stimulated in my mind than ever before.

I've given him my violin to practice on while I work on my requirements.  To my chagrin, my skill on it has reset entirely due to starting over, so I will have to learn it when I have a bit more time.

We go out late at night, enjoying our little moments of freedom like giddy children.  I've been in love many times, but I'm not sure I've ever felt quite like this before.

There's just an ease.  A divine comfort to this relationship.  It seems so immediately perfect.

And maybe that's why he was able to overcome his commitment issues for me.  He's even okay with waiting for me to roll the wish to seal the deal.

Our schedules often conflict.  In the downtime, he is trying his hand at writing a novel.

And I am learning social media to keep a blog for all of my lost family.  Six children now who will grow up without me.

But then there's Dax.  A future I never even considered.  It's not that I didn't love Aaron or the fathers of my other girls.  But, you know, it's different.  And it does make you think that maybe even bad things have that silver lining.

It was a lucky rainbow :)

In the grand scheme of founder requirements, it was essentially no time before we popped the wish to be married and had a little ceremony in the shack.

While we respectively climbed our career ladders, I managed to sell my first blog, for a whopping $5,000!

With that money, plus our savings, Dax and I decided it was time to build a house.  I also managed to grab a special potion from the elixir shop that gave us that last little boost.

So while the first storms of winter gathered outside, I turned a hodgepodge of reclaimed sculpture and background scrap from the big venue into literal gold.

Dax was inside, discovering a surprise had sprung from the "earth rock" he'd picked up during the previous day.  "It's green like you," I teased.

So we named it Daxito.

We took off a few hours of precious skilling time to enjoy the snow and were rewarded with this little snow gnome.

The house was built throughout the spring, and that's when Dax finally approached me about the possibility of having a child.  Of course, I'd been harboring the wish to have a baby with him for a while, but it wasn't a possibility yet.

"We need to find an earth man to carry the baby to term," he said.  "I like that Sean fellow you were courting before me."

I laughed at that and confused, he pointed out that we more than had the room now.

It turns out this is how the alien race procreates.  Dax told me the story of his own conception.  How his mother, whose name I can't spell for the life of me, chose an earth man she thought would be safe due to his inability to die early to father Dax and his sister.

"We're both unlucky too, but it's kind of a blessing in disguise," he said, oblivious to my morbid fascination with the idea of an impregnated elder man.

"And so you're half human?" I asked.

"Oh no, human males carry on alien genes only," he said happily.  "Although if there is room in the house they can raise us.  Our earth father was restricted and had to give us back to the colony."

"And your mother?" I asked, completely enraptured.

"She desperately wanted to impregnate another male from that clan, but one of the children became a witch and set her on fire every time she came near the house after I was born," he answered, somewhat sadly.

So, I gave Dax a lesson in human biology.  He seemed thrilled at the idea that our baby will carry his genes as well as mine, though a bit disgusted at the idea of a female being pregnant.

"I've done it five times before," I assured him.  "It'll be fine."

"If you say so," he muttered.

Our new bedroom is done in a Chinese style to fit Dax's affection for that culture.

He continues to excel at work and is now one of the most prominent doctors in Dragon Valley.

For my part, I am working on a final set of two challenges to complete my requirements, having topped my career in music.

Dax has prepared our young again potions.  I fear we may both be elders by the time I'm ready to take them.  Perhaps I was better off as a fisherwoman only.

Dax, to his credit, has become very, very versed on children of the human persuasion and is ready many times over to be a daddy.

I realized after our conversation that the story of his parentage sounded very familiar.  After a call to my friend Coralie, it was confirmed, though Eden's tactics for diverting unwanted alien pollinators did give me an idea for discouraging zombies while I'm at my business on full moon nights.  I've started to just freeze them.

It's very effective!  Though sometimes I'll cure them too.  In any sense, I was despondent about having to go back to the beginning, and yes, I do miss Aaron and the children quite a lot.

However, I can't stop the feeling that the third time really is the charm, and that this is the life I've always been meant to lead.
