Strange happenings at the junk yard.
« on: July 28, 2010, 09:31:40 AM »
I have had pathing issues at the junk yard for quite a while and now there have been other people having the same problem.  Seems to be just tables at first and then when you click on something else, they walk a mile to where you clicked.  Wildred, you stated that items did not go away.  In mine, if you do not pick them up, they go away, the next day there will be something else in its place.  Happens all of the time in mine.  I don't pick up statues anymore, because they always get stuck in my inventory.  I have also found stuff in the parking lot and outside of the fence.  If you stand there long enough, you might even see an item pop up from no where, so if you grab what there is at the junk yard, just wait a few minutes and other things will pop in, weird.

I'm not sure, but if I remember correctly the stuck items (usually the table and always in the same spot) didn't disappear. Although I didn't notice other things appearing to get stuck around them. Once you have an inventor who is able to detonate things, an easy fix is to just blow up the offending item and gather the scrap from it.

It takes a while, but mine goes away.  I usually hold my breath every time I go down there to see if by some chance I can nab it.  When I went back a few sim days later, it was gone.  There was a table on the other side that you could not get.  Maybe it just moves around. :)

I've never seen this problem in the Twinbrook junkyards(my only issue is there have been people playing tag there, and if I let my sim go idle, they will play tag and cause the run around glitch).  However, they are rather large.

I understand the SV one is very small.  Haven't looked for one in Riverview.  I read someplace that at least for the SV junkyard the problem seems to be some insects that spawn and block the items.  Just collect the insects and it has solved the issue for some people.  A more permanent solution, if you have the insect problem, is to go into buy/build mode at the junkyard and use the buydebug cheat to reveal the insect spawners, then move or delete them.

I've had the table that can't be salvaged in the larger Twinbrook junkyard. It's always in the same spot when it appears - in the back right hand corner near the trashed car. I can't recall having any problems with them in Riverview or SV, but that is probably due to the fact I don't visit them ones a lot.

Mine is in SV.  To the right of the scrap pile in front and there is another table on the the other side too.  I don't see any bugs crawling around, but will look again. It is a small junk yard though, I like the big one in Twinbrook.  Maybe I will just put another junk yard in the town and see what happens.  I am not real concerned about it, just annoying and that is not too bad compared to other bugs that are even worse.

Has anyone had items from the junkyard get stuck in their inventory?  Personal backpack inventory I mean.  I got a globe at the junk yard and can't do anything with it including delete it.  I do love the idea of being able to furnish a home for $50 though.

I have had lots of things get stuck in the backpack, salvaged items (the globe and the medusa statue always).  Things get stuck in the junkyard as well but those vary, mostly dining tables though.

Globe and Medusa for me too, so it is the same objects.  That is weird, hopefully, there will be a fix for this eventually.

I had a couple of things stuck in my inventory.  I just ignored them and after a pretty long while, I was finally able to drag them to the sell box.

Can I join the "Permanent Globe" Group?

Frankly, we now avoid even sending Sims out the house in case something else goes wrong.
Adventures are definitely off the agenda!  That seemed to screw a few families.

I've noticed that if a sim dies with a stuck globe in their inventory, then when it goes to their heir it becomes unstuck and you can sell or place it.

Well, that is nice to know.  I think I have three or four stuck in random sims.  It doesn't really bother me, except I keep forgetting they are stuck and I try to remove them, lol.

I had the stuck table in SV yesterday. I went into edit town and moved it, but doing so somehow zapped my sim back home with rearranged items and no table. I think I'm going to replace that lot with the larger one from Twinbrook.
