I noticed that the Into the Future icon has been added to the launcher and it's quite cool because it is the only one that isn't a circle. It's a kind of pentagon shape.

I wonder if there's gonna be a separate board for this expansion? Still have to wait till friday but I'm quite curious about review from others...

The moderators normally add a separate board for new expansions, but it is still pretty early in America so they are maybe not totally awake yet.

Yes, there will be a new board and this thread will be moved there.  It needs to be done by an Administrator, and I'm sure Pam will get to it as soon as she's up.  Meanwhile, anyone who has ITF and wants to comment about it can do so in this thread.

Here are some screenshots from the game.  You grab the portal from the vehicles tab in build/buy.  Go "inspect" it and this guy will show up.

He gives you the "almanac of time" and makes you go hunting around your own lot for energy cylons.

He seems okay.  My Sim has no sense of stranger danger.  She decides it'd be a swell idea to jump into the pool of electrical light that delivered a strange, commanding man to her backyard.

Turns out okay.  She arrives safely in the future with a notification of where to find her descendants.  I made her a supernatural with rainbow skin to test this function.

First she is instructed to use the jetpack.  This seems redundant as she has wings, but whatev.

It ends poorly.

She visits her descendants and are disappointed to see that they look absolutely nothing like her and are just human.  It's just this lady and a little boy.  I blame single motherhood for the hair.

From there, it's just been general testing.  She did manage to really offend this plumbot while trying to accomplish the "high five" task.  Don't take out their traits, even if they are awful, I guess, or they will dislike you and not bring you food.

Oh that looks so great, Tilia! I can't wait to get it but not only do I not have any money, I am also in debt, so it'll have to wait. One question is that do these future descendants actually appear on your Sim's family tree?

I started to play (yeah, no work!) and when I tried to visit the future, I got an error saying something like, "fatal error with oasislanding.world".  Such a bummer.  I'm going to try again now.  It completely kicked me out to the family selection screen.

I checked out all the new objects and I'm so excited for planting indoors/on rooftops!  I didn't try them out, but there are turf rugs!  I'm hoping you can plant on them.  Though maybe they're just for looks and aren't functional.

Just got back from Best Buy with my copy of ITF. Where has the time gone? Kind of makes me sad that this is the end of Sims 3. Seems like yesterday when I installed the base game in 2009 and shortly after discovered this awesome forum.

I'm all set to pick up my copy from Best Buy tonight (somewhere between after work and before Supernatural on TV), but I too was wondering if the descendants appear in the family tree. Thank you so much for the teaser pictures, Tilia (and jetpacks + wings just seems like a bad idea even before crash landing)!

I find this rather disappointing, not just that she isn't a fairy but that she has that default clone face, where I can clearly see your girl has unique features, I sort of thought they might have some genetic similarities but then judging by what happens in present towns over a few generations it's no wonder, any uniqueness was probably bred out over the centuries.

Nice pics though Tilia, it looks quite fun  :D You said you get the portal from buy mode, I thought it would be like that university mascot and just appear whether you wanted it or not, is that not the case then?

Your descendants don't appear in your family tree, but do appear in the family tree that is on the Time Almanac.

There's a Plumbot family that I came across. I changed one of their trait chips and was told that I was being very rude. But a different Plumbot was willing to high-five my sim.

I haven't found a debris pile in the wasteland yet; excavating it is the task after inspecting the crash site door.

I laughed out loud when my sim crashed with the jet pack, and I agree with Tilia about the future sim's hairstyle. I don't like the clothes and hair much, but absolutely love the furniture and buildings. And the cars! But it's funny, the jet pack is the fastest mode of transportation, yet you have the hover cars, etc. Don't worry about buying the jet pack or the hoverboard -- the Time Traveller will give you both while you're doing the little opportunities.

I've been playing around with the dream pod bed. Once they choose a dream and start dreaming, click on the Sim to pull up the "Influence Dream" tab and keep selecting good options. Otherwise they get bad dreams (red Zs instead of green ones).

The sprites are adorable. My sim picked up one in the community building. They sound like toddlers but robotic.

All in all, my first impressions are highly favorable.

Turoskel, I just read your post. The portal does show up automatically, a minute or two after the university mascot, actually.

My portal just appeared on the lot.  I took a newlywed couple into the future to meet their descendants so that I could get some ideas for naming their children and grandchildren.  My female sim did the pregnancy spin on the doorstep of her descendants  home.  I was surprised to find 6 sims living in the home, 3 had her last name and 3 had a seemingly random last name.  I wanted to know how they were related to each other and to my sim.  There was a wish to look up one of her descendants on the computer.  Unfortunately, my game crashed to desktop before I could do that.  Also, they were exhausted when they returned to the base house and she had to walk all the way to the other side of the house just to have room to pass out.

I really had fun the short time I was in the future.  I want to go back and investigate the family tree(s) more.  Has anyone found a way to determine how the descenants are related to their ancestors and to one another?

I haven't picked up my copy yet, but saw this post over on twallan's website. Very disappointing :( The descendents have nothing in common with your sims.

I just went back into the game and found this descendant:

My hopes are restored.  She's a fairy and definitely shares some of my original sim's unique features.
