The name of this expansion was found out when EA updated their legal notices page.

This item was announced via the live broadcast earlier this year.  However, there is no real information that has been released from EA which is required by Carl's to have a valid topic thread.   Please do not start any extra threads until more official information is released.  If that information is released and this thread has not been unlocked - contact me to get it unlocked so you can share with us.

The EP is currently being featured in the Live Broadcast, the trailer was shown and a walkthrough was attempted but ran into issues - which they are trying to fix. The thread is unlocked as we now have good information for the EP.  :)

The Live Broadcast: http://www.thesims.com/en_US/live

Note, they have given up temporarily and have moved onto the new Restaurant Store Set whilst trying to get the EP Demo working.

Hoverboards, Jetpacks and Plumbots?  I'm sold ;)

It's going to be for sale October 22, 2013.

EA has put up the trailer on Youtube.
You can find it here

Additionally, it was announced it would be up for Pre-Order with the Quantum Power pack, complete with Hibernation Chamber and Power Suit.

You can pre-order the expansion at Origin:

I am so excited for this new expansion pack. You can tell by there reactions and they way that they talked about the EP, that it will be like a new game. You can not only tell but see that there will be A LOT of new items with new game play. From Hover Boards to the new life state Plumbots, we can all tell, without a doubt, how awesome and how amazing this new EP will be. I am so inspired by the people who work on these EPs because of their imaginations and creativity!

Heh, and the Back to the Future references were fun (not just the Hoverboards).

Although, the ties between Simbots and Plumbots seem obvious.  At least you will be able to have some design decisions on the Plumbots.

They also mentioned the possibility of meeting one's descendants.  I'm sure those who play Legacy games will be salivating at that.

I love how they said that they would include your descendants. It's really cool to see the Sim world evolve. From Simbots to Plumbots. I can't wait to see the descendants of my Sim families and the Townies especially.

Does this mean they're actually going to allow townies to remember how to Try for Baby?

/hope so

Also, I'll be watching the trailer tonight after work, but so far, I'm getting super-excited. This almost sounds like it'll be perfect with the Futureshock sets from the store.

I would think that the townies would have children, because it shows your descendants and possibly the other townies descendants as well.

Sadly, if your townies aren't reproducing, that is more of a coding issue.  So, while their 'descendants' may show up in the future, if the base issue isn't fixed, your current town may very well not show any kids.

Well, I'll just keep hoping. But enough of the townies forget how to reproduce derail I inadvertently started...

I will request more pictures, especially if available today, because I'm just that darn excited!

I am not at all impressed. This seems like a lot of content that reminds me of previous sims store items, plus a rehash of sim bots. Plus is was hoping for open for business type stuff (the latest store venue is not what I had in mind). Sigh - guess Ill have to hope for more in sims 4.

What I want to know is (I'm not sure if this was answered in the Q&A section of the broadcast, I watch it later due to timezone difficulties and I skipped that part), why are the Time Machines and SimBots from Ambitions not being used? They could've done the same as they did for vamps in Supernatural, upgrade them for those who had LN and just give the upgraded ones for those who didn't.

I tweeted SimGuruBritt this question (as she works on this EP), but her last tweet was mid-June so I'm not expecting a result. I'll be tweeting Lauren later.

I have an idea as to why the simbots and time machines were not just revamped like the Vampires were. The new EP is based off a new world, the Sim future, where simbots have evolved into Plumbots and where simple time machines have been made into time portals. I believe that this expansion is a kind of view into what the developers see as the sims future. I think that is also backed by how now you can see your descendants in the future and even how what you do in the present creates changes in the future in the new expansion.
Now back to your thought on why they didn't just add to the time machine. If they did add to the time machine and put in what they would do with this expansion, well it would be a totally new expansion. It would possibly even be to much gameplay to even add in a patch. With the simbots i see what you mean. They could/should add a little bit more to them and give them slight similarities to the Plumbobs. We also need to remember that they are a business. EPs are made to not only bring more interesting and fun game play, but money so that they can continue making games.
