Very impressive! It never would have occurred to me to have 10 different people get the P.I. cars.
Thanks :).  The collection was actually the reason I chose the Roomies (plus Ayesha) in the first place.  It was easier than I expected, in fact - you can get to level 8 of the career just by maxing logic.  The only ones to solve more than the odd case were Xena, who was aiming for the top of the career, and Ethan, who was at something like level 4 of logic when he joined the household.

Wow, a job well done! Congrats on the first move!

Thanks.  The game is currently a few days ahead of the updates and I have seen a nooboo - but only as a little blanket-baby, so I know that Tyrone's skin colour gets passed on but that's about it.

Thanks.  They do look rather good all together :).  I'd only seen them one at a time before, on their way into the family inventory.  No idea whether they will stay as a collection for the rest of the game or get used: there are better cars that are more accessible but Sims can be awkward sometimes ::).  I tried to place them using moveobjects so that they were unusable but they kept flipping back into the family inventory.  In the end, I had to give in and use parking spaces.

Arrivals and a Departure

Trottings and Jottings

Friday 10

Yesterday was my first SASP meeting as ChairSim.  Rather scary when I’d only sat in on a couple before, even if I had known everyone there since I was a kid.  Standing up in front of strangers might have been easier, actually.

I don’t suppose I’ll bother to keep any other minutes but these are sort of special.  The record of my first time in the hot seat.  Well, mostly standing up, in fact.

SASP: minutes of the Committee Meeting held on Thursday, Week 10

Present:
Xena Decker (ChairSim)
Ethan Bunch (retiring ChairSim Pro Tem)
River Bunch (Secretary)
Ayesha McGraw (Treasurer)
Emma Hatch Ramsey
David Decker
Tyrone Clavell-Decker
Xavier Decker

Apologies:
Michael Bachelor
Miraj Alvi

Ethan Bunch introduced his successor, Xena Decker, who then thanked the committee and everyone else who had supported her in the completion of the tasks imposed by the aliens.

The main topic of discussion was the continuation of ‘real Sim’ bloodlines beyond the current generation.  Although roughly equal numbers of girls and boys have been born, there is an age disparity, with the males ranging from teen to adult and the females from toddler to teen.

Various possible solutions were discussed, including an old recipe, ‘Ambrosia’, which is reputed to be able to reset age and even to bring the dead back to life.  The bookshop is believed to have a copy in the antiquarian section.  This should be investigated.  (Action: E. Hatch Ramsey).

The Deckers also feel they are close to developing a youth-restoring potion and will continue their efforts (Action:  D. Decker, Xavier Decker).  Xena Decker is to complete her studies of logic and chemistry in preparation for joining the research team (Action: Xena Decker).

David Decker then stood up and addressed the meeting, proposing the town’s ghosts as a source of additional ‘real Sim’ genes.

Although many of them died of old age, there are a number of young ghosts who could contribute to the gene pool.  The scientists are understood to be working on a way of restoring ghosts to partial life, allowing them to join our effort.

It was agreed that someone should approach the ghosts and ‘sound them out’.  Xena Decker volunteered for the task, since her work often takes her to the cemetery (Action: Xena Decker).

There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 6.30 p.m.

Really we finished early because Xav got a frantic phone call from Storm, who was in labour.  My niece Sharonda arrived an hour or so later.  Anyway, I was glad to get an early night and a cuddle with my husband.  Being the boss can be exhausting.

Well, it turns out there was another reason why I was feeling so tired.  I’M PREGNANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We both want a boy, so I’m stuffing myself with apples.  Xanth is very puzzled.  She knows I always have an apple in my pocket but they’re normally for her.  She looked quite hurt when she saw me munching and I didn't offer her one.

Saturday 10

Spent the night at the graveyard.

A lot of the ghosts were interested in having a second go at life but only if someone else tried it first.  No-one wanted to be the guinea pig for an experiment that might not work.

Finally, just before dawn, Anabelle agreed to give it a go.  I think she wants a chance to change her name.  Can’t say I blame her.  If I’d been landed with Oinkslopes, I’d be keen to change it to almost anything else.

Sunday 11

Poor Anabelle.  She’s only been with us a day and she’s already been carried off by the aliens.  I suppose they can’t have seen many ghosts before and wanted to see how she differs from the rest of us.

On another topic, one of my clients sent me to investigate the Alvis this morning.  I can’t believe Miraj and Yvette are really involved in anything crooked but hey, a case is a case – and the money’s useful now I have to pay the bills.  Yasmin was sitting out on their path.  She looks a lot like her daddy.

I couldn’t resist picking her up for a quick cuddle.  I can’t wait until our own little one arrives.

Well, we didn’t have to wait long.  The baby arrived early this evening.

We’re naming him Xander David, after his grandfathers.  Family is very important to Ty - even though he barely knew his own father.  I’m glad we’re honouring Dad, too.  Especially now.

Tragically, he’ll never meet his second grandchild.  He died while I was at the hospital.

Goodbye Cycl0n3...you will be terribly missed. Welcome to little Xander though! And good luck with Anabelle--I have never seen her included in one of these before!

What are the odds that gen 2 would have a grandfather whose name begins with X? Did you plan that? Clever, in any case. And sorry to hear about Cycl0n3/David's passing :(

It was sad to lose Cycl0n3 like that.  I was hoping to invite him over to spend his last hours with the family but they all had other things to do and then Xena went into labour.  I thought when I started this that Blair or Emma would be my favourite of the starting household but it ended up being a tie between Cycl0n3 and Stiles.

Anabelle's looking like a very useful person to have in the household.  Being a bookworm and natural cook, she's already well on her way to becoming the Ambrosia chef.  She arrived with the Superspy wish, which will be changed to Culinary Librarian when she has the points.  In the meantime, she had a wish to join the police and her boss turns out to be Deniz McGraw.  Very convenient for matchmaking purposes :).

I half-planned it, in that I was hoping that Xena and Tyrone would get together.  There was certainly going to be a descendant of Xander Clavell who was named after him, whenever that line joined the Decker family.

Whose ghost was in the last picture?
That's Anabelle Oinkslopes (wonderful name!) looking a little less yellow than usual.

I've run into a problem.  This file has acquired the (non-)ageing bug.  The game was still showng Xander as newborn on what should have been his toddler birthday, then I realised that Tyrone was also stuck.  He should have had his adult birthday on his wedding day; instead he was at three days to go and has stayed there.  Even worse, checking back, I found that Xena stopped ageing in the three days between her adult birthday and the move, although she's been OK since.  Xanthippe also seems to be sticking for a day or two at intervals.

I tried going back to the apparent start of the problem and playing again from the morning of Xena's birthday but she only aged one day before sticking again.  ResetSim and a factory reset haven't helped.  Thinking about it, the first sign of trouble was some time before, when Yvette Ursine moved in.  She should have been a few days from adulthood but the game showed her as being at the beginning of the young adult stage.  The next time I started the game, her age fixed itself and I forgot about it.

I don't think the game/my computer can cope with so many Sims who've been in the active household (all of Xena's horses as well as the human Sims) on top of stuff like weather.  It's already crashed to desktop three times during snowstorms.  At the beginning of generation 2, this is not a good sign.  I have a horrible feeling that's the end for this game, unless anyone has any brilliant ideas.

If I understood your problem the right way, the challenge team will probably allow you to keep track on your sims age and age them up manually when it's the right time.

Maybe - although I can foresee problems in the future when a tombstone's needed.

From what I've read, moving towns may well fix it - but I don't want to do that yet, for story reasons.
