I can't wait to see Cress as a teen! Sammy will probably become her boyfriend. Welcome baby Kunama!

I'm in a bit of a slow spot right now with the story, buuuuut I'll placate you guys with a few final screenshots of Cress' childhood:

Cress reading in bed (I mainly took this shot because she's just cute as a button here):

FINALLY a good shot of Chris' new hairstyle!

And finally Chrissie having fun on the local pond. I hadn't actually realised you could do so much skating until she popped a wish to go skating with Jax.

Author's Note: Thanks for your patience, guys! I had to take a brief break to get the story to the place I wanted so we can continue!

Sixteen years had now passed since Christina Landgraab planted the mysterious fruit that had become the plant-girl, Cress. In the Landgraab household, not a huge amount had changed except the inhabitants. Chris of course was long gone and firmly established with his wife and daughter. The twins, Christa and Chrissie, were now both young adults and had established their own identities, to both the delight and mild chagrin of their mother.

Christa was preparing to become a professional artist, and had also got engaged to her beau, Finn Lucas. Chrissie often referred to them as "The Ponytail Duo"

Author's Note: Oh my gosh, I've lost the perfect screenshot I took of them both! Sorry about that!

As for Chrissie herself, she was establishing herself in the writing world, writing short science fiction novels that may or may not have been based on her mother's experiments earlier in her life.

Christina herself had always been rudely healthy and young-looking for her age, but once she hit her seventies she found, to her increasing horror, that her age had finally started to catch up with her. She now had to use a stick to get about and had grown slower and more lethargic. The weather was a bigger problem to her as well, and she could no longer comfortably wear the skimpy clothes she had once done, preferring to wrap up even in the height of the dry season.

And Cress? Cress was now a teenager, beautiful in a strange sort of way.

The leaves in the place of hair which had once twined so tightly around her head now fell away in the manner of palm leaves. Her childhood flower had dried, died and dropped off (an unpleasantly itchy sensation rather like the removal of a large scab) and had been replaced with a more-impressive-looking, rose-like bloom. It also smelled faintly of roses, so Cress always carried with her a distinctly floral scent.

She still spent a lot of time with Sammy James, particularly now the summer festival had swung into Lunar Lakes.

He grew up pretty nicely too.

"...Christa?"
"Hey little sister. What's up?"
"Ummm... I wanted to ask you something."
"Oh yeah?"
"See, it's our school prom in a few weeks."
"Seriously? School prom? Aren't you too young for that?"
"I'm seventeen, Christa. It's my final year."
"Yikes, still seems like yesterday that you were a giggling toddler."
"The thing is... Sam's asked me to go with him."
"Oooooooh. And...?"

"Well, you know I don't have many... normal clothes. I was wondering if you might consider making a dress for me? Please?"
"... But Cress, you hate human clothes."

"Yes, but this is Prom. It's a special occasion. I want to be wearing something special. And you're clever and know me well enough to make it at least... bearable for me to wear."
"When's this Prom again?"
"July."
"Well then. We'd better get you measured up. I'll ring Finn and tell him that under no circumstances is he to occupy me more than usual. Not while my little sister's Prom dress is in the making!"

Author's Note: Christa's goofy face in the last screenshot makes me chortle.

Aw, bless you! Thank you for being a fan!

I'm sorry to say that Cress' dress is NOT made of bananas. It has yellow in it though, and it's very pretty. You'll see it quite soon. :)

I enjoy writing these two way too much, hehe.

"You sure you're OK there? Seems like you've been poisoned. Did Finn's cooking not agree with you?"
"Urgh! Mother says this is good. Something about my body recognising the baby as a part of me."
"Uh-huh. Y'know, that's one thing I'm very glad I'll never have to go through. No throwing up, no mood swings, no incredible pain."
"It's not all bad, y'know. When it's all over, they hand you a baby and let you keep it."
"And the baby screams the place down, makes a mess and you get no sleep."
"You're focusing entirely on the negatives, Cress. Raising a child is a wonderful experience. Why do you think Mother was willing to put up with four of us all by herself? Oh, my stomach! Ohhhh..."

"Ew, we're gonna have to get Finn to clean that toilet when you're done. Besides, Christa, I couldn't have a child whether I wanted one or not. Mother and I have done the tests. I can't carry one naturally."
"Does that bother you?"
"Not much, no. I reckon I've got enough on my plate without throwing a kid in the mix."
"Well, you never know, you may change your mind. Anyway, you can share mine if you want."
"Thanks, but I might leave the changing to you."
"Cheek."
