The Deare Legacy -- Chapter 7
« on: May 28, 2013, 09:05:07 PM »
Hello! I have decided to post my legacy, the Deare legacy, again; if anybody remembers, I tried to play it last year, April 2012, but my game file came up with "A serious error has occured" every single time I tried to play it, and Sims crashed. But I'm back now, and Klara (the founder) has suffered been treated to an entire makeover. Entire meaning that she now has all new traits, an all new lifetime wish, and an all new look. Her random rolls, however, have not changed. (Did I mention that I only play random legacies? I can't seem to get into regular ones.) Even some of my rules have changed.

1. Random legacy, roll when heir/ess is YA.
2. resetsim command is allowed for cheating; all others are a no.
3. Random traits.
4. Allowed to use mirror/dresser only after birthdays.
5. I use twallan's StoryProgression mod and a mod to alter the twin chance to 10% and the triplet chance to 3%. I however do not use CC.

Introduction

There was once an aspiring girl who lived in the town of Twinbrook. She was born on a misty morning in one of those houses tucked far, far away from the main city. Her twin sister was a surprise to the newly wedded couple, as they had only been expecting one child -- a baby girl that they could call their own. They were inexperienced with caring for small children, but this girl had been planned. The two twin sisters were quiet and calm, and the small family lived happily for eight years.

Clarissa, as the first little girl had been called, was a friendly little girl, outgoing and a social butterfly, as her teachers would say. Alyssa, her twin sister, was quieter, and kept to herself. You could usually find her in a little nook, either playing chess or reading a novel, possibly a bestseller. The two girls were so different, but similar in their own ways.

With all the hope that her heart could muster up at the age of eight (and a half, she might add), she wanted to be a home design hotshot -- simply, she wanted to be an architect, to redesign houses, to give people new homes. Her quiet sister wanted to master the Logic skill and the Athletic skill; an easy wish, Clarissa scoffed. Her wish was much better, much more... ambitious.

Maybe she was a little too ambitious.

Clarissa got increasingly restless in the next four years that followed. Alyssa sensed something was wrong and often asked her sister if she was okay -- she was then snapped at for disturbing her. The whole family was growing worried about her, and on the twins' twelfth birthday, she was taken aside.

Clarissa had noticed the way she was becoming, and was trying oh so hard to change. Another few years passed by, and the girls graduated from middle school, and entered high school. The concern for her had faded gradually and by the time they were freshmen, Clarissa was unworried for. She was realizing how she had concerned her family and tried to hide her fidgety emotions.

Finally, on their eighteenth birthday, she could stand it no more. With a short note taped to the refrigerator, she escaped from their small cottage with her sister (she came readily enough along) and they took four buses and two planes to Sunset Valley, their destination.

When they got there, Clarissa felt as if she had been there before. On the taxi ride to the new house she had bought with all the money she had saved up (more than 13,000 Simoleans!), she passed by a certain house and one name ran through her head.

Klara.

The name disappeared as quickly as she tried to remember it, and the next event drove the whole thing completely out of her head. The two girls were kicked out of the taxi, and dropped off at their new... empty lot.

Sorry about no pictures, this was just the introduction to my story. Expect the next chapter tomorrow, as I already have the screenshots.

Chapter 1

Hi. My name is Clarissa Deare.

I just moved -- well, escaped, really, from Twinbrook, in our tiny little house. It was just too small and tucked away for me, you know? My twin sister, Alyssa came along with me too. No, I did not beg her to. She willingly came along.

When I moved here, a couple hours ago, you cannot imagine the shock I felt when I looked around. There were two big and beautiful houses surrounding me, and an amazing view that I cannot describe, but when I look at my own lot, all I see is, well, emptiness. I was tricked by the real estate agency. They said that this was a big 60 x 60 lot that I would absolutely love. I mean, it's kind of my fault, because I didn't exactly tell them I wasn't a builder, and that I was only 18 years old. But still.

I suppose I should introduce myself a little better. You've heard about my escape, with my twin sister, Alyssa. Well, on our way here, I was dreaming about how I could finally become the architect I had always wanted to be. Ideas took root in my head, and a passage I had read in the library about legacies popped into my mind. Suddenly, I wanted to start a legacy; it was a new beginning, and if I could make it to ten generations (and be a home design hotshot) then I would feel better about myself.

That's another picture of the two of us. My sister is a genius, and she told me that the way she will earn income for us will be by being a freelance scientist. I asked her what that meant, and she told me that it was when you hacked on the computer to earn money and also solving problems on the computer. "Won't that get us in trouble with the law?"

"No."

"Well, alright then."

We're different, but we love each other and I can't imagine what I'd do without her -- especially because I'm starting a legacy, of all things.

Chapter 2

After the initial shock at our empty lot, I turned to Alyssa. "How exactly are we going to build a house on this expanse?"

"Well, I figure we'll have to live outside for a while," she said casually. I stared at her.

"You're kidding, right?" I asked, dread filling me up.

"Nope," she said cheerfully. "I estimate that we'll need about $3,000 to get the essentials, and even more, maybe $5,000 or so, to build a small house."

"How small is small?" I asked her.

"Maybe a shack, if we're lucky," she replied. "I'd advise for you to go get that architect job and a husband to get this legacy started."

I sighed. "Fine."

I managed to call up a taxi and I got inside. It smelled horrible, and my sister hopped in next to me.

"What are you doing?" I asked her.

"Going to the library," she said, offering no further explanation.

We stopped at the City Hall first and I exited the taxi.

By the time I had left City Hall, I could see my sister entering the Library nearby...

...and I was now a Fabric Fetcher! It was only the first level of the Architect job, but maybe I was placed so low because of the way I had burst in; I was a little inappropriate, after all. I went back home in a taxi (I really needed a car) and purchased my first item for the house -- a drafting table for researching architectural design. I liked to be neat and tidy, as it was part of my personality. The table and stool only left me with $760, but once I started getting jobs, I would be sure to have more money.

When my sister arrived home, I put down my tools and looked at her sheepishly. "I'm sorry, but I want a promotion and--"

I was cut off by her no-nonsense look. "I may be a savvy sculptor, but you don't see me buying a sculpting station! I'm better off using my computer whiz and genius traits to earn money without buying a single thing. In fact, I earned you $73 while at the library."

"Thanks," I said quietly.

"You should be thankful. Now go meet men at the park," she said, irritation lacing her tone.

"Yes, Alyssa," I said, already on my way to Central Park, leaving my half-finished sketch behind.

The only men at the park were Boyd Wainwright and Christopher Steel, and neither one struck my fancy. I decided to try the nice man I saw standing across the street outside of the City Hall. His name was Thornton Wolff, but again, I didn't feel any connection to him. My next stop was at the Le Petit Shark Pool Center. A man named Geoffrey Landgraab was there -- now, this man, I felt an attraction to.

We got to talking for a couple hours. I found out that he was also family-oriented, like me, and that he was a Fan Fiction Writer in the Writing profession. Oh yeah, and that he was also charismatic, a hopeless romantic, and had a good sense of humor.

The bad thing is, our signs aren't compatible, which I'm willing to overlook, but he also has a wife and kid, Nancy Landgraab and Malcolm Landgraab, respectively. When I saw his wife come into the bathroom, I stepped away from him. She seemed like a bit of a snob, as she was looking at herself in the mirror and muttering kind words to her beauty. We hugged goodbye, and I felt a warm feeling go through me. By that time it was almost 7 in the evening, so I left the building.

On my way out, I met both Simis Bachelor and Hank Goddard, both of whom I felt attraction to.

But Hank put a feeling through me that I could not describe. I felt young and girly again, and I felt myself blush as I talked to him. But before I could say any more, I felt hunger pangs coming to me. I excused myself, called my sister, and told her to meet me at the fire station where we would live, but only until we had a house.

When we got there, I grabbed a bowl of cereal from the fridge and gobbled it down; after that, I went up to the third floor where I fell asleep on one of the beds. They were a tad uncomfortable, but I fell to sleep quickly.

The next morning I got myself a bowl of cereal, wondering how I would find Hank again. Just thinking about him sent electricity through my body.

"Alyssa," I said, as she finished the juice box she had gotten from the fridge, "how do you find a person? Not like stalking, but more like... if you want to reach them again?"

She threw away her juice box and looked at me, a grin appearing on her face. "Who is it? Is he cute? Single? Good reputation?"

"I just met him yesterday," I told her, putting my bowl in the sink to hide my heated face. "Yes, he's cute, and I have no idea if he's single or not. Same goes for the reputation."

"What's his name?" she asked me, whipping out her cell phone to look him up on Simbook.

"No, don't!" I told her, taking her phone away from her. Immediately after doing that, however, my phone rang. It was a customer asking for a Book Nook.

"My first job!" I shouted with glee, and I was out the door in a flash on the way to the client's house. His name was Jack Bunch. He was attractive, but my heart was set on Hank.

I went upstairs and renovated his room -- but when I came out, he told me that he couldn't live in that "squalor!"

Frustrated, I added a small blue sleeping bag to the room.

But again, he insisted he couldn't live there! I finally decided to simply add another sleeping bag downstairs, even though that wasn't part of the renovation. When even that didn't work, I simply added two single beds in random places of the house, removing the sleeping bags. If this failed, I would just move on to another job.

But he even went so far as to leave the house! I tried to call him but he wouldn't pick up, so I took a shower and was immediately kicked out by Judy Bunch. I called it off as a bad job, angry at the family. When I got to the fire station, I interrupted my sister mid-flirt with some attractive guy named Dale Blanchard and complained to her about Judy.

"Calm down, Clarissa. I agree with you, but maybe you just need to go to bed."

I readily agreed and stormed up to bed.

The Deare Legacy -- Chapter 3
« Reply #7 on: June 01, 2013, 01:28:53 PM »
I hope the next job is a little easier. Great story. :)
Thanks! You'll see if they are in Chapter 3. Speaking of which, here it is! :)
Chapter 3

The next morning was uneventful, except for the one call I received after breakfast. Geoffrey was asking if I could hang out. I had made my decision though, and gently told him I didn't want to ruin his family. I don't think he'll be calling me again. I did, however, make a quick trip to the Bunch household and mention that the renovation was done.

He apologized for leaving the day before and I finally completed my first job as an architect.

My next job was for a man named Rudy Callaway. He wanted new exterior design; basically he just wanted another door and some windows. This was easy. I installed eight windows in his bedroom and two doors leading outside, one in the living room and the other going out to the backyard pool.

Rudy enjoyed the renovation -- well, he said it was good, but not amazing. That works for me.

I felt accomplished, but it was only 1:00pm and I still had 5 more hours of work. Therefore, I took a third job -- it was a lady across the street named Jamie Jolina. She wanted a gym addition. With her permission, I changed the kids room into the indoor gym.

She loved it. I'm really starting to get the hang of this job.

My fourth job was for a Susan Wainwright; she wanted a laundry room.

I won't bore you with the picture of her shouting at me for not spending all of her money. Excuse me if I don't want you to be broke, Mrs. Wainwright.

My final job for the day was for Gunther Goth, in the big Goth mansion on the edge of Sunset Valley. He wanted a nice little painting studio.

After completing that job, City Hall called and told me, in honor of completing five jobs, that they would give me the Architectural Designer's Honor trophy. I felt lightheaded with glee. They also promoted me to Pattern Spotter, level 2!

The man who gave the trophy to me was nice enough -- he asked for my opinion on his wallpaper in his office. I told him he should paint it terra-cotta brown and he laughed. My trophy was small, but I felt a warm glow of pride looking at it.

It was getting late, so I headed to the fire station, and after a quick dinner I fell asleep.
I feel like the collage pictures are a little longer than usual -- is it just me?

Clarissa says thank you. She may or may not have been jumping up and down in excitement at the news. She also agrees with you on designing her house -- although, they only have about $1,700 at the moment so I doubt that will happen anytime soon. ;)

Okay, I was just making sure. Maybe it's just my computer.

The Deare Legacy -- Chapter 4
« Reply #10 on: June 02, 2013, 01:26:23 PM »
Chapter 4

When I awoke the next morning, I realized that I needed to get home and pay the bills. We still owned a "house" and so we still had to pay those pesky bills... even if they were only $5.

The mailbox's red flag was up, so I took out the mail. Most of it was junk, but I got two love letters; one from Jack Bunch and the other from Geoffrey Landgraab. I desperately wanted to talk to Hank, but I had more architectural work to do before that could happen.

My first job for the day was for Molly French -- she wanted a new child room.

We now almost had $2,000 -- soon, we would be able to live on our own lot! But for now, working was still a necessity. I visited the fire station to eat some canned soup and tell Alyssa my findings. Then it was work, work work.

A teenage sanctuary for Iqbal Alvi('s kid).

A new baby room for Pauline Wan.

But when I call her to tell her the baby's room is complete, I see Hank. Hank walking into her house. Hank saying it looks great.

Hank with a new baby on the way.

Lost in my thoughts, I barely hear Pauline tell me that I did a great job. But then City Hall calls and they tell me I've been promoted to Placement Planner!

"Thanks so much," Hank said as Pauline walked back inside.

"You're welcome," I responded quietly. I felt myself blush like a school child.

"I would love to thank you somehow... maybe take you out to a picnic at the beach?"

Is he flirting with me? "I'd love that, but..."

I quickly turned the conversation friendly again, after Pauline came outside and looked at us suspiciously. Then, just loud enough for me to hear, she whispered, "It's his," then walked back inside.

I resumed the conversation with Hank, knowing she meant the baby was his.

Guilt threatened to overwhelm me as I asked his sign and status. I found out that he was charismatic, engaged to Pauline, a traffic cop in the Law Enforcement career, he graduated from the Community High School, and we were compatible signs.

It was meant to be! At least, I hoped so.

The next morning I finally had a chance to talk to my sister, as it was Leisure Day and I didn't have to do any architectural work. I told her the story of Hank and I.

"You're the smart one, what do you think I should do?"

"It's time for Hank to turn over a new leaf and choose you instead," she said.

"That doesn't help me though!" I responded.

"Right. Well, accept his offer of that beach trip if you can today, and if he flirts with you it means he likes you."

"Okay," I told her uncertainly.

I did just as she said and he told me he would meet me at Old Pier Beach, across from his house.

We talked and then ate with the picnic he had brought. It was a delicious hamburger. We sat in a comfortable silence, until the flirting started, turning our friendly group outing into more of a date.

And then this happened.

Fireworks seemed to go off around us, and I was lost in his warm brown eyes for what seemed like hours.

"I'm sorry," he finally said. "I know I shouldn't have done that, but--"

I silenced him with another kiss, this time with rain pouring down upon us.

It was so romantic.

He had to leave afterwards, but I kissed him goodbye, happy with my new romantic interest. Hopefully I could build a small house before inviting him over sometime. And hopefully he would break up with Pauline, baby or not.

I had to go swimming to make sure I wasn't dreaming.

I wasn't, I was happy to realize. But I was getting sleepy from the warmth of the day, so off to the Fire Station I went, and into a bed I jumped.

I woke up that Friday morning with a nice tan from my beach outing. Sadly, I had to work today and I probably wouldn't get to see Hank -- the next time I saw him, however, I would ask him to go out with me.

Rudy Callaway called again -- this time he wanted a new marriage room.

My Simbook alert went off and I checked it. It was on Hank's page.

"Just had a new baby boy -- we named him Jayson."

The Deare Legacy -- Chapter 5

Chapter 5

That shocking information planted me firmly on the ground for what seemed like hours but was probably only a couple minutes. Hank. Had a new baby. Hank! Had a new baby!

I finally snapped out of my trance and gave a quick, fake smile to Rudy and left abruptly. I was going to another job, not because I wanted to continue working, but because I needed to think about something else for a while. My next job was for a man named Allen Darling; he wanted a man cave. Who does he think I am?

I suppose I did an okay job, but really? Hiring a lady to renovate a man cave? Allen, unfortunately enough, agreed with me and told me I did I terrible job. Oh well. There weren't any other jobs that I could perform, and I couldn't hang out with Hank as he was at work for another 2 hours, so I went home to research architectural design.

I gained a point in the Painting skill, which benefited my job. I also sold my sketch for $4 - it may not seem like much, but it pushed us up to $3,001 which was enough to be able to live at home!

My drafting table and a desk with a computer for Alyssa were added next to the beds after those pictures were taken. We were left with a nice amount of money, $739, to start saving to have an actual house. My first meal at our own house was cooked - macaroni and cheese. It was delicious.

I decided to visit Hank - it wasn't his fault that he now had a kid. Well, it was, really, but I was trying to overlook that.

After endless flirting, I asked to stay over, which he accepted. Pauline silently walked into the room, which I didn't notice at the time. Hank then looked into my eyes seriously.

"Clarissa. I'm going to break up with Pauline... the marriage is off."

"You... what?" I asked in disbelief, as Pauline said the exact same thing.

"I... I'm in love with you," he told me.

I was speechless. What does somebody say to that? Other than "I love you too" and I wasn't ready to speak those words with Pauline giving me the evil eye right behind me. I settled with something else instead.

"Will you go out with me?"

"Of course, Clarissa."

I spent my first night in a double bed with the one I loved.

But does he love her back?

When I woke up, I instinctively made his bed.

I then decided to make some pancakes for breakfast. I had high hopes for the day and I wanted my favorite food to start my day off nicely. Sure, the grape pancakes were a little (or a lot) burnt, but they still tasted... interesting.

I found Hank sleeping on the lounge chair outside. He woke up when he saw me and I wasted no time in doing what I had been planning to do all along. I proposed marriage to him. It didn't matter that we were both still in sleepwear; we loved each other, and that's what mattered.

But to my great dismay, he refused.

"Clarissa, I need some time to work out child support for Jayson. He's still my son. You know that I love you, but I just think this marriage should wait. Is that alright?"

"I'm sorry," I muttered softly. "I need to go."

With tears streaming down my face, I went home. I threw myself into sketching architectural designs, while Alyssa somehow sensed I didn't want to be bothered and solved the unsolvable on the cheap computer we had purchased.

When the Diner called to offer me an opportunity, I yelled at them to leave me alone. I'm not proud of that. But I was still heartbroken.

Pauline updated her status on Simbook to "In a relationship." Thankfully, it was with Conner Frio, not Hank.

To take me from my downward moving mood, City Hall promoted me to Feng Shui Fiend, Level 5 in the Architectural Design profession.

I also gained a skill point in Painting, reaching level 3. At some point I must have fallen asleep after that.

In the morning I decided to tell Alyssa why I had seemed so down the night before.

"It's okay, Clarissa," she said soothingly after I had finished. "Just get him into a better mood. He was probably cranky from his nap."

"Okay," I said, giving her a hug. "Thanks, sister."

With new determination I made my way to Hank's house. After flirting for a while, I decided to pop the question again.

His response was...
Find out Hank's response next time on the Deare Legacy! ;)
