1. go into your sims game folder. not the my documents folder but the actual game folder. Find a file called sims3.ini

I found 'Game >Bin'
in
C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin
- and your screenshot of the 'Sims3.ini' file is also Very Helpful.
Thanks for the RAM tutorial that included 2Gb to run Other-Than Sims.
I surely need a 64 bit Operating System that will support more the 4Gb of RAM !

Actually, I've read on MTS and somewhere else that deleting the WorldCaches is something you should only do if you absolutely have to.

In addition, Mac users should never delete their WorldCache files -- it's not good, though I don't know the specifics.

It looks like ssaff is using the same path I'm using, but I'm not finding an .ini file, either.

I didn't find an .ini file either, but I did find a file named simply sims3 that was listed as configuration data (own translation so I hope you understand what I mean) that included the same info. Use the detailed list show option to find it.

That's the same file. Without file extensions turned on, you have to use the type field in Windows Explorer.

Thanks for the video link, Jazz.  Now I've got my file extensions showing, but when I try to make the change and save the file, it tells me Access Denied.  No options for changing any settings, either.

Check the permissions of the file. Here's how:

Right-click the file, and then click properties.

Click the Security tab.

Under Group or user names, click your name to see the permissions you have. Then click edit. You need to have read/write permissions checked, click apply and now you have admin privileges.

Just don't forget to make a backup of this file somewhere.   Just in case the change is not accepted by the program for whatever reason you can then replace it with the old one.

The c:\Program Files" folder of Windows Vista and 7 is very special. Regular users are not allowed to delete/modify files on it and Windows is capable of restore any changes done to it.

It may happens that next time you restart the system, your modified file will be replaced with a shadow copy of the original installed one.

So if you are about to change a system configuration file, the best advice is to install the program in a regular folder (like for example d:\games).
