Time to Choose
« Reply #705 on: October 28, 2013, 08:05:08 PM »
Watching the triplets vividly reminds me of Cyllia, Aliya and me as children. Unlike most siblings they never fight, never complain, never even bicker over who gets to sleep on the top bunk.

So, yes: I'd say things are just about perfect right now. Of course, Sturm is still a baby and we still don't get any sleep and I'm still on maternity leave, but otherwise the family is getting along wonderfully. We're making a bit more money and Breandan and I have more energy now that the triplets are older . . .

While the children are being children, Coral is cultivating her dreams. She wants to be a pro soccer player when she grows up--unlikely, but I believe in her.

It's difficult to see that my little girl has grown up so completely, so I concentrate most of my efforts on spending time with those who are still too young to sit in the front seat. Alhana, Usha and I spend the most time together, going out to lunch every day and driving to the pool.

Alhana is the most serious of the three, Usha the wildest, and Palin the sweetest. He's focused on getting scuba-certified and becoming a lifeguard.

They spent the summer playing video games in the evening while Coral tried her hand at cooking, Peder called Margaret, and Breandan and I engaged in . . . activities.

In the afternoons after school the triplets can be found up in the treehouse, playing at pirates and princesses. Sometimes the thought of heir flashes across my mind: Usha and Alhana know, of course, but they don't know. To them becoming heir is inconsequential, insignificant. Coral doesn't even realize its seriousness and she's a teenager!

Then I realized that it's better this way. Let them enjoy their childhood without worrying about leading the family, pursuing their interests without being pressured, enjoy what they love and use that to claim the heirship.

It was in the midst of my musing that I discovered that Sturm was simply the most scrumptiously adorable little boy in the history of ever. (Squeak!)

With a toddler in the house, things are more hectic than ever! Sometimes I wonder how my family is ever going to function without me.

After all, appliances are constantly needing to be cleaned . . .

Then as soon as I clean them they break--which could be seen as a metaphor for life.

But at the end of the day Breandan and I look back and laugh at everything we cursed hours before.

After that we horrify our children.

You may know by now that something has been interfering with Margaret and Peder's relationship, but whatever it is they got over it quickly. It's awfully cute, really, to see them dancing in the kitchen, then Peder dips her down for a kiss and the kids all groan.

It seemed far too soon when Peder's birthday came and he blew out the candles. He's such a handsome young man, and right after his birthday he moved in with Margaret.

(Note: I lost all pictures of the teenage years! (Bad Watcher, baaaaad!) At any rate, here are the young adult photos.)

Palin moved out right away, after signing on as a lifeguard.

It seems far too soon to vote, but the time has come. I've decided that every generation the heir (with assorted family members) will go to a new town and strike out on their own. It's just not fun when you have a lot of money!

Alhana and Usha hugged one last time, then stood silently, waiting for the results.

I spent about 2 weeks reading this from start to finish and I've casted my vote. The girls are so gorgeous! Can't wait to see how things end up. If they end up in The Future I'm gonna be jealous since I don't have that expansion XD

Okay.... The person I voted for is losing. This is not cool. I'm sick of losing heir polls! How do I sabotage it?

I actually know how to rig the vote in my favor but I'm not about to do it XD That'd be wrong.

I like Coral because of my slightly creepy attachment to Quinn.
She's in last though, but to be honest it's not a huge loss either way, any child would probably bring something new to the Moonstones! I wish we had more time with them but I won't complain... I know how sometimes you're just ready to move onto something different!

I like that each heir option comes with her own theme and world; very fun. *cheers for Alhana*

I voted Usha because she's the most beautiful and also I am completely in love with Midnight Hollow (I'm playing a dynasty and a legacy in it at the moment) so yeah. I also think that it's not a good idea to play a whole generation in the future since the EP is still with lots of bugs that might ruin the legacy.

Thanks to everyone for voting! I'm about a day ahead in NaNoWrimo, so time for a Moonstone update!

  My name is Usha.

  Usha Moonstone.

. . . You probably already knew that.

I can already tell my sister, Alhana, doesn't like it here in Midnight Hollow, but I love it. There's something about the atmosphere that's so rich and beautiful, and the shadows everywhere seem almost to conceal forgotten mysteries . . .

The thing I hate most about being heir? Leaving Mum and Dad behind. I know they'll be happy together, since they still have Coral, Alhana, and Palin, but as much as I care about their happiness--what about mine?

On the other hand, isn't there something so thrilling about looking out over an empty lot and knowing that it's all you own in the world?

With the small package of money I had been allowed to bring with me I purchased a few necessities: bed, chair, table, fridge, toilet, sink, shower, guitar--etc.

I went to sign up for the Singer career, and saw that the few venues in one part of town are the only spots of color in Midnight Hollow. Well, the buildings--and me.

The uniform is awful, but the more I practice the closer I'll be to achieving my dream! Ooh, I can hardly wait!

  (Author's Note: OMG DIAGON ALLEY!)

I decided to stop by Peder's place on the way home, and ran into Margaret's little brother: James. Like Margaret, he's very . . . appealing.

Of course, Peder came in before anything could happen, but I had the feeling I would be seeing James Hemlock again!

I woke well before dawn and climbed the mountains--just for the fun of it--to see the crescent moon. If nothing else, Midnight Hollow is entrancing. The moon is blood-red in the dark sky.

Even the mist of the rising sun is tinted scarlet!

Back to the more mundane things in life . . . Mum's insurance covers my healthcare, so I go in every day to be treated for "instability." It's a nuisance more than anything else, but after having a delusional episode when I was a teenager I'm more than happy to get acquainted with the nurses.

I don't understand why everyone complains about Sing-a-Grams: They're so much fun! I get to bring a smile to people's faces every day!

James came over unannounced one evening, which I was okay with, despite being dressed for bed.

In fact, I was the one who made the first move and kissed him.

He kissed me back, of course, but I still claim full responsibility!

That same night, precisely twenty-four hours after our first meeting--or somewhere around there, anyway--I asked him to move in. And he said yes.

This is my first time seeing a story in Steampunkville.  Very nice!  However, I make the request that you change Usha's career outfit.  At least adjust the colors to something more...her?

I sense that something will go very wrong with James, but that may just be me hating the Hemlocks...

I can't come up with many comments besides "THAT RED MOON. <3"

I hope Usha and her descendants have a lot of fun in Midnight Hollow!
