Auditions for the New Jason
« Reply #525 on: August 17, 2013, 12:20:55 PM »
In the morning, Cyllia went to visit the Science center. She was a little disgusted at the state of the rusty, decrepit building. If only the family had stayed in Lunar Lakes, the science center of the universe, instead of this money-obsessed city! In reality, the science building wasn't even worth visiting. It was the Matlapin Mental Institute behind it that mattered.

While Cyllia's parents were at work, those whose jobs started later in the day taught their daughters to drive. It was still a little awkward between them, of course.

Kylara wasn't able to tell what her mother was thinking, which was more disturbing than the rest put together. She had always been able to read Mist's mind, but now she was just blank and smooth.

"Hey! Cyllia!" Jumping out of the car, Kylara raced towards her niece. "How is everything? Has Treasure . . . you know . . . cracked yet?"

"Oh, she's fine for now," Cyllia assured her. "I stopped by the Institute this morning and set up a twice-weekly appointment for her. I've talked to Dad, too, and he'll drive her."

"Ky!" Aliya hurried off the street to join them, giving both girls a hug. "How's Grandma? Mom thought she'd be on the warpath."

Ten minutes later, the girls sat around a table at the Bistro, busily eating. "No, Mum's fine right now," Kylara said. "I think she finds the whole thing kind of funny, actually. But she might not think it's so funny when she realizes we actually mean to enforce these rules."

"How are we supposed to punish her, anyway?" Cyllia asked. "There are two things that would make it very difficult to discipline her: Mist is an evil diabolical mastermind, but also an old lady."

"Let's just cross that bridge when we come to it," Kylara muttered, chomping down on her egg roll.

Aliya nodded understandingly. "Well, it's pretty obvious that my mom's completely on board, which is a nice change from the rest of the adults. Treasure is in a passive rage, Mist is only compliant 'cause she thinks it's funny, Blake is a pushover, and Jason--"

  "Aliya?"

The pink girl sighed, pushing her chair back to face her father. "Yes, Jason?"

"Grace called and asked if I could finish giving you your driving lesson, since she's at work."

Aliya turned around and made a pained face. "Sure, Jason. Meet you in the car."

Aliya is normally a cheerful, sunny young woman who gets along with just everybody, but she shares contempt for Jason with the forum. She could dimly remember him teaching her to talk when she was a toddler, but she could also recall how he never so much as looked at her again after the big fight.

"So, would you like to go somewhere after this?"

  "Sorry, I have homework."

"What about just a quick trip to the Port-a-Party Warehouse? I've wanted to go since I was a kid, but there wasn't one in Bridgeport."

"Score!" Jason shouted, quickly pressing buttons.

"Hey, no fair!" Aliya laughed. "Do you want to go to a movie after this? Kylara and I are seeing Cyborg Goat Herder. It's supposed to be really good."

"Sure," he answered, and the two exchanged a look over the table. Then Jason slammed his hand down on the button, sending his armies swarming over Aliya's. "If that was an attempt to distract me, it shall fail! I am the conqueror!"

  "Bring it on!"

After Aliya roundly defeated Jason several times, they drove out to the movie theater. "Aliya!" Kylara sighed in relief. "Where were you? The movie's about to start!"

"Jason's coming, too," she said cheerfully.

"What? No! That's your cheating, so-called dad, remember?"

  "He's getting popcorn . . ."

"Tell him we'll save a seat."

"I've come up with a name for us," Aliya told the other girls as they chatted in their room that night. "The Powerpuff Girls. You know, like that kids' show. Except I'm more like Bubbles, and Ky's more like Blossom."

"Sounds fine to me," Kylara agreed, standing. "I'm going to go take a shower. Be back in a few minutes."

Aliya waited until she had left, then glanced over at her half-sister. "Cyllia? Mom and Blake are up to something."

  "What do you mean?"

"I mean that they went into the bathroom together and didn't come out for a really long time."

"What is it?" Cyllia asked. "Are they just flirting, or kissing, or--you know."

She waited as Aliya shrugged. "It was a really long time."

"Well, then, they're breaking the rules," Cyllia said firmly. "We said no cheating, and he's cheating, and she's helping him. What are we going to do?"

"Wait," Aliya interrupted. "What if it's not really cheating? We know that Blake and Mist haven't--you know--in ages. I think she's bored with him. Mist always knows everything that goes on, so she definitely knows about this. I think she just doesn't care."

"Either way, the auditions for the New Jason are open," Cyllia grumbled. "Our dad got around a lot, but Blake might just end up taking the cake."

"How are your parents doing, Cyllia?"

"Oh, they're fine. Mother's not exactly normal, but Dad's good at keeping her stable."

I think I like Cyllia the most... Don't know why actually XDD. She just appeals to me the most and I really like her looks (I always thought Treasure was really pretty and she looks a lot like her mom).

Girls, Girls, Girls, Girls, Treasure and Mist had better act fast!

As for the money spent on crossbow bolts and fuel, I don't need new ones every time there's a new heir I don't like  ;D

So is Kylara eligible to become heir because she's in the same age group as Cyllia and Aliya?

I think if we speak in strict legacy rules Aliya would be the only eligible heir, since she's Grace's only daughter, but I don't think we speak in strict legacy rules here :P

The way I read the girls' rules, it seems like it's almost a Not-Legacy.
They made it sound like each and every heir would move and start anew, or is it a just a single time they're doing this and the girls will move the legacy to a new town, where the heir starts anew and the spares move out?

I'm happy that Jason's trying to get to know his other daughter. Also, is Cyllia and Aliya listed as cousins or half sisters in game?

Well I might turn in my badge  ;). Jason seems really great now.  Anyway I totally love the girls. I would almost rather see them three move out together with grace although that would be breaking there new legacy rules  ;D
I love this forum and just want to say thank you to everyone! :) Have a great rest of your day!

I love Cyllia, too--but then I love all the girls  ;D .

Thank fansidoodle for being absolutely brilliant!

Girls, Girls, Girls, Girls, Treasure and Mist had better act fast!

As for the money spent on crossbow bolts and fuel, I don't need new ones every time there's a new heir I don't like  ;D

Someone is serious about their cause . . .

So is Kylara eligible to become heir because she's in the same age group as Cyllia and Aliya?

Absolutely.

I think if we speak in strict legacy rules Aliya would be the only eligible heir, since she's Grace's only daughter, but I don't think we speak in strict legacy rules here :P

Of course not! Imagine how not-fun that would be.

The way I read the girls' rules, it seems like it's almost a Not-Legacy.
They made it sound like each and every heir would move and start anew, or is it a just a single time they're doing this and the girls will move the legacy to a new town, where the heir starts anew and the spares move out?

Nope, just this one time, since the legacy has strayed off course so much.

Powerpuff Girls  ;D So happy you used it.

Thank you for your brilliance!

I'm happy that Jason's trying to get to know his other daughter. Also, is Cyllia and Aliya listed as cousins or half sisters in game?

Half-sisters. The whole family tree is so weird and unbalanced right now, but they all connect pretty comprehensively.

Well I might turn in my badge  ;). Jason seems really great now.  Anyway I totally love the girls. I would almost rather see them three move out together with grace although that would be breaking there new legacy rules  ;D

See? Told you he reforms (finally)! Well, we'll be staying in the new town for a few generations, so hopefully they'll start to intermarry! (In a not-gross way.)

I still hate Jason. He's still a horrible person to let his daughter and ex wife he used to "love" go through all of that without batting and eye... and even being "for" it just so he didn't have to see them. What a nasty piece of work..
So now, he's just saying "oh, well I feel stupid for not being a father, let's play arcade games and that will make it all better."

No, he has a lot more to repent for.

Ripping Off a Band-Aid
« Reply #539 on: August 18, 2013, 01:23:09 PM »
At very edge of town, where the boats extending over the water are, there's a parking lot where the girls meet up every day after school.

All of the girls are very best friends with each other--in fact, they're BFF's. Secretly, their parents worry that this friendship will only impair them in the end. There's a reason all heirs were raised to hate each other in the past. How hard would it be to fight for heir with your best friend?

The girls have their ways of keeping busy. In the evening, Kylara goes fishing. Being an overachiever, she accepts every opportunity the school gives her to earn extra credit, but she hasn't caught a fish yet.

Aliya practices her speech (for when she runs for Leader of the Free World) at the podium in the living room. She secretly dreams of being someone rich and powerful and famous, yet she has a little nagging feeling that politics isn't for her.

Cyllia devotes her very life to invention . . . and sometimes pays for her devotion.

Jason and Treasure cuddled and talked at night--at least, Treasure talked and Jason distracted her.

After work, Grace often played electric guitar in the hall, much to the enjoyment of some and ire of . . . others.

"Make that horrible sound stop! It's making me sick."

"That's music, Treasure. Music is good. How was work today? You look so beautiful in that police uniform."

And, slowly but surely, it was helping.

On a Saturday morning, Aliya and Cyllia left to go swimming while Kylara finished her science paper. Aliya waited until they were far out in the water before sharing her report of the evening before.

"Remember the thing I told you about? Well, it's . . . escalating. Definitely, definitely escalating."

"And how do you know that?"

"Well . . . I may or may not have been spying on them at the time."

"The point, Cyllia, is that they were very . . . intimate."

"Ew! You spied on them being intimate?"

"If you must know, I followed them to Mom's room before I realized what was happening, then couldn't get out without them seeing me. I made a run for it when they came up for air."

"Why does everyone have to dump everything on me?" Cyllia muttered. "I have to hear about everyone's love lives, and affairs, and parental intimacy. Well, what do you want to do about it?"

"Nothing . . . I don't know! What are we going to tell Kylara? Are we going to tell Kylara? It's her dad!"

"Cy! Aliya!" A blue shape, dressed in white, came speeding through the water towards them. Aliya made a pained face at her half-sister and mouthed, What are we going to do?

"You two have fun, I'm going to go snorkeling," Cyllia announced as Aliya shook her head frantically, and she took off into the water.

Kylara laughed and splashed Aliya. "What were you guys talking about? You looked so serious!"

Ripping off a Band-Aid, ripping up a Band-Aid . . . "Kylara, your dad is having an affair with my mom."

Kylara's face immediately darkened. "What are you talking about? If this is your idea of a sick, twisted joke--

"Sorry, Ky," Cyllia said quietly as she surfaced next to her. "Aliya saw them together, and we're pretty sure that it's a regular thing."

"I need to go home," Kylara exclaimed frantically. "I have to go home, and tell Mom, and get this all sorted out--I can't believe it!"

"Kylara, you can't tell your mom. You can't tell anyone." Kylara began to protest, but Cyllia cut her off. "Let's go talk about this on land."

She protested again, but swam to the shore with the other girls. The moment their feet hit sand, Aliya started talking. "You know that things are on edge right now! We're all balancing on a tightrope, and if something tips to the right or left we'll all fall off. And this will more than unbalance us--it will all be chaos again."

"Okay, okay," Kylara muttered, frustrated. "I get what you're saying, but--these are my parents! My dad!"

"We know this is hard," Aliya answered, hugging her. "But, now, we just have to keep our mouths shut and monitor them to make sure that Mist doesn't find out."

"It's okay, Ky," Cyllia agreed with a hug. "This isn't the end of the world, and your mom is tough enough to handle anything."
