I just read though this and had to say that I love it.  Pity about Franco though, I wished I was wrong on that one.

I stood frozen in the doorway, watching as Franco and she embraced, murmuring to each other in the empty house. She looked strangely familiar--one of Franco's makeover assignments from over a year ago. Something Grace--Allison, Amanda, Amira! Amira Grace.

Amira Grace, who was kissing my husband.

Snapping out of my state of shock, I slammed the door behind me, interrupting Franco and Amira's kiss, and stomped across the room towards my husband. "How could you do this to me! To our family!"

"Please believe me, I didn't plan any of this! The only thing that happened--"

He took a deep breath, looking at me as if pleading for me to just listen. His new girlfriend stood off to the side, appearing bored by our conversation.

"Look, just let me explain. Amira rang the doorbell and I let her in, then she just kissed me when you walked in! I swear, I'm not cheating on you."

"What do you mean, cheating on her?" Amira demanded. "Who's she? Your girlfriend?"

"I think you should leave now," I told her firmly. She looked at Franco for a drawn-out minute, then angrily stormed out, leaning back a little to support her baby bump.

Relieved, Franco reached out to take hold of my hands, but I blocked him. "How should I know that you're not lying to me? Are you cheating on me with Amira? Should I be filing for a divorce right now?"

  "What? You heard what I--"

"Did you get her pregnant?" Suddenly, a new suspicion crept into my mind. "Did you get Amelia pregnant?! I saw pictures from when you two were younger, I know you dated--"

"Cassandra, I've loved you for sixteen years. Sure, Amelia and I dated in high school--but that was ages ago! I don't understand why you're even bringing it up, considering that Amelia and Michael Tomyoy are dating."

Finally convinced, I swept him into a kiss.

For the first time in months, I had my husband at home with me that night. But even that wasn't worth the heartbreak I had gone through hours before.

The next morning, half an hour after Franco left for work, I received an urgent, angry text from Stefan Bayless to come over right away. Even though I trust Franco (of course I trust him, why wouldn't I? Perhaps Stefan's house caught on fire, that's all.) I grabbed my coat and caught a taxi to the Bayless-Willheim house, to see an unexpected scene.

Franco shoved Stefan aside and they shouted at each other angrily. Stefan stormed off into the front yard, climbed into his car, and drove away into the town. I decided it was time to assess the situation.

"Cassie?" Franco's expression was stark terror, quickly replaced by a smile. "What a nice surprise! I'm just here giving Stefan a new hairstyle. Too bad he wasn't a huge fan."

"Sorry to bother you while you're working," I gave him a quick kiss, completely reassured by his story.

"Franco, who is this?" Anais growled. "How dare you cheat on me!"

"What are you talking about?" I asked angrily. "That's my husband, you yeti!"

  "No, Franco is my boyfriend!"

I turned to look at him, and he spread his hands beseechingly, with another excuse all ready. I just looked away and walked out the door.

I returned home to find Stefan Bayless pounding on the door, and the moment he saw me he started telling me all about how Franco was cheating on me with Anais.

He thought that the two had been having their affair for months, since Franco often stayed the night "because of the cold." Now it seemed so obvious--the late nights at the office, sometimes disappearances for weeks at a time.

Stefan sent the text right after he caught them kissing that morning through the window, and also snapped a picture with his phone as proof for me. Even looking at it now, I can't process the fact that Franco hasn't been true to me for so long.

I asked him if he knew anything about Amelia Loveland's boyfriend, Michael Tomyoy. As it turns out, Michael broke up with her last year, after a fight about "some guy" who kept visiting her all hours of the day and night.

As for Amira Grace? She's a local celebrity, so everyone knows that she has a secret lover, even if no one knows who he is.

I thanked Stefan, sent him away, and tracked Franco down using the Parental Controls I installed on his Smartphone. He was . . . on a date with married businesswoman and mother, Mia James.

I followed them to the movie theater, where they disappeared backstage for an hour then came out laughing and kissing. By then, I had seen more than enough.

It was time to give Franco a piece of my mind and possibly dispose of his body in an abandoned warehouse.

Thanks so much! Yeah, I greatly dislike Franco . . . he's an evil little man.

Franco, you dog!  I wish she could take his body somewhere!  How could he?!  Dump that cheating bugger!

For the record, it was ENTIRELY Franco's wishes, his Mid-life Crisis, and his attraction to every woman in town that caused this. I claim no responsibility  ;)

Only in the name of fulfilling his wishes! And, okay--there's nothing in Sims that I find more fun than having someone run around cheating on everyone. It's quite interesting.

lol!  Heh, I can't say much... I'm actually worse... When I first started playing Sims, I had waaayyyy too much fun in seeing how many different ways I could kill my Sims off XD  So, having them go around cheating is fine.  But yes, I have to agree: Down with Franco!  Cassie, kick his sorry butt out!

The next few hours were kind of a blur. I can dimly recall shouting at Franco about betraying me, and our family that we've built up over so many years. Not to mention the fact that I was pregnant. You don't cheat on someone who is pregnant! It violates so many moral codes, it's difficult to know where to begin.

He yelled back that his waywardness was my fault. Because I never left the house, never wanted to do anything, was always too busy with the kids or writing or trying to catch a half hour of sleep. Besides, it wasn't like I could leave him! He was the one making all the money, even if he did quit his job last week! I wouldn't be able to support myself and the kids.

"So, why don't we just go ho me and talk this over, then we can forget about the whole thing and just go on with our lives?" He reached out for me, but this only made me angrier.

How could he think I would just "forget about the whole thing"? The fact that my husband was cheating on me with four different women, and had gotten three of them pregnant, was nothing to forget about.

I slapped him, hard, sending him reeling back. "We are done! And I'm not leaving you, I'm kicking you out of the house. I never want to see your face near my family again! Go move in with whichever girlfriend will take you and leave me alone."

He was sorry, then, and started blurting out the entire story. How it all started with Amelia, when he went over to her house for a makeover. All of the memories of dating her in high school came back, and they both felt sparks right away.

It started as nothing--a bouquet of flowers and a little flirting--but before he knew it, they were making out in her bedroom and he was visiting her house every day for a little romantic action.

Within a week of seeing her for the first time in years, they had become lovers and instead of being with me and the children every night, he stayed with her. All of those "late nights at the office" were really secret meetings at her house--all of this made easier by the fact that she was unaware of our marriage.

After a while his legendary fertility kicked in and Amelia told him she was pregnant, but at least he was gentleman for her and didn't stop seeing her. If anything, he was an even better boyfriend, bringing her flowers and little presents every day.

As for Amira? She was just an accident, generated by his Mid-Life Crisis. He was over at her house on some errand or another, and she asked him to stay the night.

For the next few months, he continued to be primarily with Amelia, but a few nights a week he snuck out of her house to go see Amira. She was much more exciting, romantically, and more receptive to his advances. Within a week, they were lovers and Franco had cheated on me with two women.

I already knew the story of Anais and Franco--just an old friendship that suddenly developed into regular meetings, perhaps once or twice a week. Bringing the number up to three.

He and Mia weren't quite as serious--just a date or two, every now and again. After all, Mia had her marriage, child, and career to think about, while Franco was starting to get a little burned-out, running around between four women and his wife. At least he always had a place to spend the night--am I right?

Franco finally finished recounting, and we just stood there for a moment, looking at each other, then began to talk in normal, reasonable voices. He insisted that the children choose which parent they stayed with, and we called them at boarding school to ask. All of them wanted to stay with their mother.

Except for Nymph and Foam, who went with their father to Amira Grace's house. I can't deny that it hurts: seeing them choose Franco over me was even more painful than discovering Franco's cheating. But I could understand. Nymph had always been closer to Franco, and Foam was a boy who needed his dad.

The baby came that night, but I was alone in the house with no one to come to my aid. It wasn't like I'd never given birth without Franco (more than not, I had to send him away for his safety!) but at least he had always been just a phone call away.

Amest entered the world without incident, a purple boy with none of his father in him. Perhaps he isn't my chance to start over, but he is my chance to move on.

Is "Amest" a play on Amethyst, or does the name have some other meaning?

Yeah . . . you know how much Cassandra loves kids! That must be why she keeps having them.

It's a play on Amethyst. I really did try to come up with a name besides Amethyst, but it just would not happen.

I spent the next few days running around trying to make a little extra money through odd jobs while also taking care of the baby. I had met practically no one in Lunar Lakes, which explained how no one knew I was married to Franco, so I did my best to branch out a little. I did meet one very attractive man, Len Sekemoto, but he's married and I remember how it felt with Franco.

Doing my best to swallow my pain, I went to see Amelia Loveland--formerly my best friend, now the woman my husband cheated on me with. She met me at the door, looking thin, faded, and exhausted.

And no wonder! Franco now had three more children, even if he wasn't planning on acting a father to any of the girls.

I took care of the children while Amelia caught her first nap in days, all too aware of the fact that the babysitter at home charged by the hour. But the extra money spent was worth it, just to know that Amelia and I were friends once more

Now it was time to accomplish my next mission: Three of the four women were single, but Mia James was married with a son. I had to warn Phillip of his wife's infidelity. However, based on his romantic advances, he didn't really care about being faithful to one's spouse.

I began to tell him about Franco, but at some point explanations turned into flirting and gazing into each other's eyes.

What can I say? Phillip was kind, smart, well-read . . . just the sort of man I could fall in love with all too easily. I was more attracted to him than I ever was to Franco, and it was only a matter of time before we fell into each other's arms.

That same evening, after hours of kissing and discussing books, we found our way into the bedroom, and I felt happier than I had in weeks--years, even.

And, again for the first time in years, I fell asleep with my love's arm around me, and knowing that he would still be beside me when I woke up.

Even though Phillip never technically moved in, he lived at my house. We ate together, I kissed him before he left for work and had food ready when he returned, he played my favorite Bastille records while I worked on my books and brought me pancakes after a long night of writing, and we slept in each other's arms at night.

Everything was simply wonderful until I once again began to find myself over the toilet in all hours of the day and night. I had been pregnant enough times to recognize the signs, but there were too many problems this time. Of course, money was always a factor--I had less money than ever without Franco's input and time to write. And there was the matter of the father--I had no idea if the baby was Franco's or Phillip's, and there was no way to have a paternity test.

In the meantime, I hid my suspicions from Phillip and life went on normally. Phillip would support me whether or not the baby was his--he was wonderful with Amest--but how long would he stick around? Why stay with me when he could return to his rich family and fancy house?

I had no choice but to make sure he didn't have that option. And then there was the fact that I hated Mia James for what she did to me. It was only fair that I do the same to her.

It worked, too. Mia broke up with Phillip on the spot and stormed off in his sports car, while I "comforted" Phillip over his destroyed marriage, with my thoughts still spiraling. Should I tell Phillip that the baby might not be his? Or just take Amest and leave Lunar Lakes and all the painful memories, find a place where I could be happier?

At some point, I had to go into maternity wear, and if I didn't tell Phillip he would start asking questions. It was the moment of truth--tell Phillip the baby could be Franco's, or tell him there was no possibility of the baby not being his?

"You're going to have another son, Phillip! I hope he looks just like you."

From that moment on, he was a better father to Amest than ever. I don't think Amest, in his little baby world, had any idea that he had a father besides Phillip. And, in a sense, he didn't.

That didn't stop me from breaking his heart when I broke up with him. Writing this, now, I'm not even sure why I did it. Perhaps I just couldn't handle having a boyfriend, or was still hung up on Franco. Or perhaps it was the fact that I felt guilty for what I did to him and Mia.

In the end, he didn't take it very well, but reacted better than I had hoped. We were still very good friends, and I realize now that I never saw him as much more than a best friend who I shared benefits with.

Phillip even helped me with Amest's birthday and cheered just as loudly as he would have if  he was Amest's father. Then, without taking a piece of cake, he left the house and never came back.

Amest aged up into a sweet little boy with his father's hair. I was relieved when he asked to please please please dye it his favorite color, green, and all traces of Franco were gone from my son.

Being a single mother, without even the infrequent help of Franco or steady warmth of Phillip, proved incredibly stressful. Amest was a mature toddler who never fussed, but even so (between him and my difficult pregnancy), I was always exhausted.

Even so, I did my best to keep the recent hardships from influencing Amest's childhood. He's such a smart, grown-up little boy that I'd hate to see him be weighed down by the difficulties of everyday life.

I went into labor while feeding Amest, but rushed into the bathroom so we wouldn't be emotionally scarred by the sight of his mother giving birth to his little brother.

Leaf came into the world hearing his older brother wailing in the other room.

At least, with Leaf, I've had one worry assuaged: there is no question as to who Leaf's father is. And I didn't even have to pay for a paternity test.

As much as I enjoy having my little boys to myself, and as happy as I am being single--if a little lonely, with no adults to talk to--I called my ex-husband and invited him over. He rushed over right away, and I calmly told him how betrayed I felt by what he did, but that I felt he had a right to see his child.

Leaf began to cry, so I went into the nursery with Franco following. "Is he mine?" Franco asked timidly.

"No. His father and I broke it off a few weeks ago," I replied.

The meeting was going much better than I had expected, so when Franco asked if I would like to go out to lunch, for old time's sake, I reluctantly accepted. We talked the entire way over, and I found myself telling him all about Phillip and taking care of the children by myself.

He told me about how Amelia had broken it off with him, and about the Loveland triplets, and the Grace and Willheim twins. Foam is a teenager now, and Nymph recently won an award for citizenship at the local high school. I haven't seen either of them since Franco left.

Hearing about the kids, and talking about the last few years, really brought memories back. The happy memories, of raising our family together and being in love before everything went wrong. Before Franco betrayed me, over and over. So I thought, and I thought, and while I was thinking my body did something else.

We separated, still holding each other, and I gazed at Franco and saw the man I had loved for so many years, with whom I had given birth to Nymph, Mist, Foam, Melody, Amest . . .

"I'm not going to pretend that I didn't do something horrible," Franco began, holding my hands gently, "but I'm also not going to pretend that I want a second chance. I'll break up with Amira, and I'll do my best to be the boyfriend you deserve."

I know, it wasn't at all the smart thing to do. I felt like an idiot for taking him back, but we both knew that he would be back out the door in a second if he did anything wrong. Just like Phillip, he didn't technically move in, but lived with me anyway. And that first night we returned home and relived our first night as newlyweds.

The weeks following were almost peaceful. If Phillip was a father to Amest, Franco saw Leaf as his own son.

As for Amest? With Phillip no longer stopping by, he adopted Franco as his one and only daddy, and spent the elder part of his toddler years reaching up for "Daddy, Daddy" to toss him in the air.

We felt like a family again, with the boys and each other in the nursery. We smiled at each other and snuck kisses over the heads of our children before returning to the walking, talking, and feeding.

At night, I knew that Franco was in my bed dreaming of me, not lending his dreams to Amira or Amelia or Anais.

I was ecstatic to discover my pregnancy. Franco was by my side, and I knew that he would be a supporting, loving father and boyfriend.

We talked about what we would name the baby, where we would send him or her to school, how we would divide time between all of the children--but mostly we just made out where the children couldn't see us.

Amest grew up into a conscientious, intellectual child who was wise beyond his years. Franco and I decided that Smugglesworth Prep School would be the perfect place for our son to receive the education he deserved.

After he and his father engaged in a rowdy pillow fight, of course!

Next, it was Leaf's turn to become a very handsome toddler. He looks exactly like Phillip to me--a fond memory of that easygoing relationship. I do miss Phillip, especially since he stopped returning my calls or even speaking with me.

The same day Amest left for prep school, Melody returned from LeFromage. My flowery, innocent little girl had turned into . . . something very different. She tells me that blue lipstick is all the rage these days, but I just don't know.
