I started to make up a list of all the likely and eligible bachelors in town, but my mind kept falling back to Breandan O'Shea. He's kind of perfect--young, handsome, good, with a great career as a police officer, and he loves kids.
Besides, there's that certain, undefinable and undeniable attraction between us . . .
In the end, he was the one who made the first move. It was around three in the morning, and we had been talking since midnight, and I was just saying that I should get home to sleep for a few hours before the kids woke up, and Breandan stepped forward and kissed me.
Next thing I knew, we were making out in the hallway of his stone mansion.
"Will you move in with me?" I asked breathlessly between kisses.
"Of course I will," he laughed, drawing me closer. "Why do you think I'm the only person in Dragon Valley who story progression hasn't set up with someone?"
We hurried up the stairs, tiptoed into the master bedroom and, seeing that the bed was occupied by Kearney and Shannon, jumped into the shower instead.
As soon as my carpool showed up a few hours later, Breandan stuck around the old house to say goodbye to his brother's family and change his wardrobe. He cut off his
ponytail for me! Isn't he just so handsome?
By the next day, he was completely settled into the family. He was a huge help with Coral, and the little girl loved him like a father. I suppose she's too young to remember Quinn very well, but . . . no, it's just important to make sure she's happy.
Peder took a little longer to warm to him, but in the end Breandan's persistence won out.
Since I'm busy with my residency, Breandan took over most of the household affairs. He's
way better at repairing broken appliances than I am--although I keep him far away from the new expensive dishwasher--and, even though he's at work for most of the day, he's always home in time to pay the bills.
I came home one night to find lights had been hung from every inch of the roof. It only took one look at the color to know who had spent the afternoon stringing them up, and I felt myself blushing.
I went inside to find Breandan had been waiting up, and we made excellent use of the new bedroom.
*Note: The author must take a moment to reflect on Kylara's outerwear, because Kylara's wardrobe is her favorite one ever. By the way, does anyone want the girls up on the Swap Shop?*
Have I mentioned that, as I explore my relationship with Breandan and we both work most of the day to pay the bills, Peder has been an enormous help? Particularly with his little sister.
Since neither of us have lots--or
any--time for cooking, he even makes brownies and muffins to stock the fridge.
On afternoons after school, he packs up all of his little baked goods to start up a business in the park.
In the evening, he plays with his best friend, sweet little Margaret Hemlock. I've done the research, and she's our grandfather's daughter's daughter with another woman, which basically makes her my . . . something. Actually, she's my grandfather's
great-granddaughter. I'm pretty sure that makes her eligible to date Peder when they get older, not that I'm going to play matchmaker or anything!

I realize this update's a little short, but trust me, the next one is adorable!
