Sorry Frey.  The way I read it was you tried all this in your official file.  If you're having the same problem in a brand new game with the consignment then it's something in your game.  Try the factory reset - Don't move your save file over and just test to see if you're getting the same issues.

my consignment store didn't work either so I lost out on those points and profits. I also had another bug that's caused me to miss out on at least two challenges but because it was peculiar to that game file there's no way to solve it. These things happen and I know from past challenges that where there isn't a legitimate way to solve them you just have to take the hit to your score.

Sure, I've also had issues in official Dynasty challenges and failed many of them because of bugs and save errors etc. But if there's a legit way to fix it and I get permission to do it, why shouldn't I? Sorry, I really don't mean this to be unkind, but if you took the option not to ask if you could fix your game, that doesn't mean I have to do the same.

Sure, no problem!  :) I just did the factory reset. I tested a new file and the register is working. May I copy my save file? Or do I have to do something else now? Thanks for the help  :)

Go ahead and copy over the save file and see if it works or if it carries it to the new folder.  Remember when installing content again that something with the previously downloaded items may have been the culprit.   If it does carry over, come back to me and I'll give you some options.

Hi Frey, sorry I upset you; I didn't mean that at all. I said that people have to take a loss when there isn't a legitimate solution. Of course I wasn't suggesting that you shouldn't ask for fixes just that sometimes unfair stuff happens and we can't do much about it. It wasn't a criticism of you or the challenges, sorry it seemed that way.

The old save file is still bugged  :-\ but at least the rest of the game is fixed now. I was planning to start a Dynasty and wanted to fix it first. I really like this challenge but it starts driving me nuts after a few sim-days playing it! Are there any more options anyway?

It's OK, no problem  :)

Once I saw this challenge, I knew I had to try it. It was tough, but I did better than I thought I would! My final score:

11 mastered skills. 24 misc. skill points. 35 challenges completed. 12,200 X 2.75 = 34,160.

Nice challenge, Rica! Now off to start Metro's...

Done!

13 mastered skills, 6 miscelaneous skill points, 15 challenges. 13300 x 1.75 = 23275.

Although my score wasn't great I can proudly say I've completed a challenge for the first time!  ;D and for a natural cheater like me... god, it was hard! It was a great challenge though, I learnt a lot. And I did have a lot of fun, which I didn't expect haha.

Are the sims allowed to get jobs? Like in order to gain money? Or can you only get money by selling things that are made/caught/grown at the store?

You can get jobs. The consignment store rule just means IF you use the consignment store, then those stipulations (made/caught/grown) are in place.

Made/Caught/Grown... I suppose that rules out wild harvesting or items found around town?
However, do metal ingots, cut gems and/or cloned items fall under the "made" category?

My guess is that they would not. "Made" consists of things like paintings, inventions, books, elixirs, etc. And I think in the rules, the category is "planted," so that would limit it to plants from your own garden.

Thank you, Marian. :)
I understand harvesting is out and other items collected in the wild are out. These are very singular actions.
It's the process of turning items into something else, something more than they were before, I'm really worried about.
Like - in alchemy you turn ingredients into elixirs. When inventing you turn scrap (which can be bought or found) into objects. And with science you turn samples into, well... you know what I'm saying.

When you cut a gem or smelt it - it doesn't become something else.  It is still a metal or a gem which are still naturally found.

Hi Rica!
So what's your verdict on cloned items? Can they be sold to stores or not?
Thanks.

Edit to add:
I'm not sure about the ultimate invention either. Is it allowed if the creature is released in the wild at once? Or is it considered an addition to the household?
Thank you.
