Regarding the new features that came out with Patch 1.55 as well as something else that came up.

No purchasing of private lots is allowed.  The rule stays as business purchases only.
No basements.

Quick clarification:  when you say "The only real estate allowed to be purchased are businesses", what exactly is the definition of businesses?

Does it include, for instance, the karaoke bar or Aleister's Elixirs, or are businesses only the rabbithole kind?

Thank you!

ETA:  also, do we have to set our familyfunds before or after we build our fences and place a toilet, bed, etc?

Thank you!

When you buy real estate using the phone or computer, it is categorized into three things - Business, Property & Residential.    What I mean is what is considered a Business not a property so yes basically the rabbit holes only.

I believe Rica wants us to start with 1000 before building or placing anything.  You even have to sell your camera in your inventory (university) before setting familyfunds to 1000.  So if you build fences and place a toilet, it has to come out of your 1000 simoleons.

Can't wait to start this tonight. Don't know how long I'll last as I'm imagining two constantly depressed sims but it'll be interesting to see what's possible.

With the release of an expansion tomorrow, the challenge team would like to remind players to not try anything that comes with Island Paradise in their official scoring files until after it's been approved as acceptable content.

Thanks Lena.

As a clarification for people - the outdoor living only means No enclosed rooms and no roofs.  The Hates the Outdoor moodlet should always be present on the home lot.

Rica, Thanks for the clarification. This absolutely looks like fun.  I am going to try this and have printed out the instructions.  As I mentioned to you a couple of days ago, I've never participated in a Challenge anywhere before and this will be a REAL challenge for me as I have not played the EA Worlds or without some form of cheating!!

@Alexandria : That part of the rules are the same for both challenges.

Hi, I am not familiar with Metro's challenge.  If Sim 1 starts working on Charisma (or any other skill) is learning Charisma off limits for Sim 2?

And if that is the case:
With the given "attitudes" it seems unlikely some of these skills will not come naturally to these guys but what if Sim 1 is working on Charisma and for some reason Sim2 gains a skill point naturally?

I've never had a Sim learn Charisma naturally but if your second Sim gets a point in one of the other skills then it's game over.   Remember you only get one chance to do this challenge.   Once you start your scoring file, that's it.  At that point you accept whatever happens happens.

As for Metro's Challenge - it's the shorter version that allows cheating call Metro's Haven.  It's the Yin to this challenge.

Re: Rica's Asylum—Oh, No You Don't! What is the Group Science Project
« Reply #40 on: June 24, 2013, 02:02:53 PM »

I've looked and looked in the directions, and posts but can not find.  What is the Group Science Project that needs to remain in the Family Inventory at all times?

The group science project is what you get when you max the science skill that came with University Life.

Thank you.  I do not have UL installed.  Does that mean I should not be participating as I can not keep this item in my inventory... or is it just to be kept there because it should not be used as a tool for skills?

Thanks Again

Sorry -- I actually asked a similar question -- you don't have to have the group science project, but if you do have it, it must be in family inventory and not used. You don't need University Life or any of the Expansion Packs to participate.

Thanks so much for your help.  I just did a search to find out what the Relationship Transmorgifier was and found that is a UL feature so I won't worry about that either.  This is my first time trying a challenge and I am looking forward to getting started!  Thanks again.
