"Updates Available"
« on: May 22, 2013, 01:42:22 AM »
My game just crashed twice in a row. I downloaded the Crash Log Analyzer to this new computer and it said the reason was: "Warning: Updates Available: The Sims 3 World Adventures (2.0.86.002002 -> 2.17.2.011032), The Sims..."

My game launcher tells me I have no updates to download. Anyone got any ideas for what to do? I seem to remember having to manually update once, from a link? But I've forgotten exactly what...

My launcher says it is at: 18.0.126.021001

You want to Patch Your Pre-Generations Games. :) Basically, EA used to offer patches for individual EP's but discontinued that around Generations time. The Crash Log Analyser picks up on this and does not like it. ;)

Thanks seabody! i think I've done something like that previously, but I had to move to a new computer recently so it makes sense that I would have to do that again. Thanks heaps!

Seabody, (and mods) that helpful thread seabody mentioned may need to be amended - see my post to it. The new way I mentioned seems to have worked fine - I'm not all patched up and about to try out the game again - will let you know if it works. :)

Argh! Now it has another reason for the crash. "Warning: Graphics Device(s) not found in Database: 0x11xa1 "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670MX"

Does that mean sims does not recognise my new graphics tools on this new computer? It was working fine for a few weeks until now. :(

Hi Pally,

Maybe the graphic card drivers need to be updated? I'm not sure, but it might be worth looking into?

It's a brand new computer (only around 2 weeks old), so I'd be very suprised if it did, but my dad said he'll have a look at it tonight. I've searched on google, and found some rumours of people having problems playing sims with this graphics card, but there's not solid evidence, and I was playing sims fine up until now.

Ok this is just plain weird. I did some testing in game. I tried:

a) building on the same community lot I've been building on all this time, then playing in live mode a little, then saving - crashed

b) building on my current home lot (just four walls and a roof), then saving - no crash

c) building on a different community lot (just four walls and a roof), then saving - no crash

d) building on the original community lot, but in a different spot (separate four walls and roof on ground level) - no crash

e) building exactly where I had been when it originally started crashing - building a third story on the lot and adding roof - it crashed.

So, this is weird. I am going in to have one more try at just putting the room that was to go on top, in the basement and see if that works. If it does, I'll move on with my building in edit town as I'd planned and hope for the best - hope it's just a glitch with a third story on that particular lot.

Have you got Seasons enabled, and has it rained? To me, what you're describing is the Seasons rain bug. Turn off Rain to stop it spreading - but some places will not be available for building upon. Step D) describes this perfectly.

I see what you mean seabody, and have read about that, but I see no way for rain puddles to have formed on top of the roof where I was building. And building elsewhere on the same lot worked. But oh well. I am happy to say that building the basement went perfectly, and I have built on two other lots since then and everything was worked great. I sure hope this lasts. :)
