Caoin.  I'm still up in the air about how to handle this.  Really threw a wrench in the works.
My suggestion: Keep on playing and try to bring him back to life. I mean, as long as his family keeps on trying to stay ahead, and he comes back, what's the harm?

Yes, if he comes back it should work. Does his family know of his mission, or are they unaware that he has a nation to rule? Perhaps his Watcher can tell them.

Pippin Enterprises is pleased to announce that the evil elf will be resuming his antics within the next couple of days.  Shots have been taken and are currently being edited together.
Thank you, everyone, for your loving support of this story and for bearing with me while I tried to figure out how to progress when one of the main characters accidentally died.
Here's a sneak peek at the coming action.

Thanks!  It was just a very perplexing moment when I lost Caoin as the back and forth between the brothers was far more of the focal point.  Alainn's cool, but the two princes were the big contrast.

Yes, watching Breagadoir burn things (and other Sims) is always a joyous occasion  ;=)

At the castle of the elven king and queen...

Very little other than frustration was being heard.

"Have you found nothing that can help us?" the king was shouting at his scribes.
"No, your majesty, but we'll keep looking," said one brave enough to respond.
The king knew full well that necromancy was strictly forbidden in his kingdom.  He also knew it was the only hope to bring back his favored son.

From the moment he had learned of Caoin's fate, the king had been putting all of his energy into trying to find a loophole in the law.  Some way to bring his son back.  He didn't want to turn his kingdom over to Allain.  Much less so Breagadoir.
"Your majesty," called the handmaiden who was serving as Breagadoir's Watcher, interrupting the king's thoughts.

"It's about Breagadoir," she began.
"Of course it is," the king replied, "I suppose his heir's doing wonderfully well and about to move to the next town?" he ventured with a groan.
"Well, Leithleach is doing well," she began, hesitantly, "he continues to work at his music skills, though I worry about him.  He seems to have abandonment issues.  He indulges heavily in drink and...relationships, shall we say?"

"You interrupted my overseeing of the scribes for this?" asked the king.
"No, majesty," she said, a touch of fear in her voice.  "As I said, it's about Breagadoir.  You simply asked about the heir, so I told you.  Breagadoir is...missing."
"Missing?!?!?" came the shocked reply.  "You're his Watcher.  Shouldn't you have been watching him?"
"Well, yes, and I was, but our magic cannot penetrate the magical forces centered around his wizard's tower.  He went into his tower with Harlequin, Aeric, and Lea, and I couldn't see what they were doing."

"So just wait for them to come out," said the impatient king.
"They went in five days ago and never came out," she replied.
"That's it," said the king, waving his private guardsmen over to him, "bring the prisoner to the main hall."

"Of course, majesty," they replied.

"Brother!" called the prisoner, as he was shown into the main hall, "how kind of you to have me over for a visit.  Need a hand with the necromancy you're thinking of attempting?"
"How dare you imply such a thing," said the king.  "We know you were the one who let the people of the kingdom know of Caoin's death."

"Oh, how very hurtful your accusations are," responded the prisoner, in a mocking tone.  "I suppose I am guilty of telling the truth about the unfortunate demise of my second favorite nephew.  How terrible of me.  Are you going to still try to stand in Breagadoir's way and deprive him of his rightful chance at the crown exactly as you and father did to me?"

"Enough!" yelled the king.  "You have clearly been in contact with Breagadoir since he departed the kingdom.  Tell me what his plan is."
"I'm sure I don't know what you mean," responded the king's brother.  "What makes you think I've been in contact with him."
"He has always known what was going on with his siblings.  He had to get that information somewhere," countered the king.

"Yes.  Watcher updates," replied the prisoner.  "Isn't that part of his Watcher's job?  But let's just cut to the chase.  You really have taken me into custody because you know I've been studying the forbidden arts of necromancy and you want to bring Caoin back."

"How dare you make such accusations, Theodocius!" shouted the king.
"How dare you lie to your people by pretending to uphold the laws while you ignore the kingdom to search for ways to bend those laws to your will for the sake of your favored child," retorted Theodocius, brother of the king.
"Take him back to his cell," growled the king, through clenched teeth.

"Whenever you do lose all sense of reason," said Theodocius in parting, "the forbidden necromantic texts you want are on my kitchen table.  I knew you'd want them, so I already gathered them together for you."
"Get him out of here!" yelled the king.

Yeah, Theodocius is a nice antithesis to the king and helps explain where Breagadoir got his "cool" factor.

Nicely done. A+ Work, Pippin.
Why thank you, good sir!  I think you'll rather enjoy the places the story goes in the next 10-15 updates or so (yes, I have a plan!).

The Elven Town Jump-The Fresh Start

Alainn had been waiting for a black-robed visitor to come take her waste of a son away, but had been disappointed thus far.  She was even more irritated when she heard a familiar voice from in front of their house.

"Mother!" called the voice.  "Your loving son has returned to spend some quality time!"

"Things are about to change between us, mummy dearest," he called.

As Alainn came out, she smirked at her recently disposed heir.  "Well, you managed to stay alive and to finally do something with your hair.  At least you'll look decent for your own funeral."
"Perhaps you're a bit overconfident, mother?" posed the former heir.
"It seems that you've managed to become at least vaguely confident since I got rid of you."
He smiled and replied, "I've become more than just confident..."

"I've become a distraction," he said as his uncle emerged from the door.
"And a darn fine distraction you are, Alphin," confirmed Breagadoir.  "He got you out of your home, which we all know you use as your tower:  the seat of your power.  You're weaker out here."
"What. Are. You. Doing. Here?" asked Alainn, trying to control her anger.

"And hello to you, sister," laughed Breagadoir.  "We arrived some time ago to rescue my poor, neglected nephew."  He then added, with a biting tone, "Seems you'd treated him as poorly as you treated my son."
Meantime, inside the house, Harlequin was introducing herself to Alahna.

It was a smashing good time.

Outside, Breagadoir demonstrated to Alainn just how much stronger his magic was.

And Surtr dealt with Nieve's attempt to rush to mommy's rescue.

And then Harlequin spread more flames inside of the home...with an unconscious and bound Alainn and Alahna trapped inside.

Alphin got to play the role of super hero daddy as he whisked young Seamus away from the burning house.
"Well, now that we've taken care of things here, let's go help young Alphin with his other issue," said Breagadoir with an evil grin.
So, as the sun began to rise, Breagadoir, Harlequin, Alphin, and young Seamus arrived at the Best household.
"Stay with Auntie Harlequin, Seamus," Alphin told his son.
"I'll teach you to make something cool," his auntie told him.

"Is it a toy?" he asked excitedly.
"Oh, I think so!" she responded enthusiastically.
While she taught him to make, and play with, fire, Alphin and Breagadoir approached the front door.
"Here's how you get someone's attention," Breagadoir told his nephew.

Indeed, the household came running to deal with the fire.
With the fire extinguished, Mandy began addressing everyone.

"Mother, I think you should know whose baby Shanda is carrying,"  she announced.
"What?!?" blurted a shocked Shanda, who had been staying over under the guise of merely being a family friend who had recently separated from her husband (whom Mrs. Best had assumed was the baby's father).

Shanda was far less popular with the Bests after Mandy revealed the truth, complete with a recording of the conversation where Shanda told Evan he was going to be a father.  Mandy then explained how her account to her father about Alphin's impropriety had simply been a ruse to get him out from under his mother's eye.

While his wife laid into Shanda, Evan decided to make a hasty retreat into the house.  Breagadoir decided to cast a pestilence curse on Shanda before dealing with Evan.

Discomfort for her, but no harm for the baby.  Evan, on the other hand, would having something longer lasting for the "happy couple" to share.
The elven prince managed to corner Evan as he was trying to hide upstairs.

The haunting curse brought this:

"Well, hello there, handsome," the ghost of Kimberly Durk greeted Breagadoir.
"Hello yourself," he replied.  "Would you be kind enough to haunt this man and his mistress for the rest of their days?"

"Oh, I'd be delighted to," she replied, as she and Breagadoir stared down the police chief.
Breagadoir had held up his side of the bargain, now it was Alphin's turn.

Alphin had been promised the revenge he desired in exchange for taking the heir to the next town prior to the completion of his lifetime wish.  This act would invalidate Alainn's line from consideration in the competition.  Since Alphin was the one removing the heir, the rules of the competition could not hold this act against Breagadoir.

As long as he had his beloved Mandy and his precious Seamus with him, Alphin didn't care about the competition.
This was his chance to have a real life.  To no longer simply be his mother's pawn.

This was his fresh start.
