Wow can't the parents accept what WILL happen? And what will happen is that Bregdoir will become king.

I, for one, think Harlie should go murder the monarchs. When they are gone, who's left to deal with Breagadoir? Alainn and Caoin? Pssh. Good luck with that Softy and Selfty.

I have this weird feeling that Pippen now has to go and re-write a story arc now. :P

Ugh! Parents! They, like, never understand! Ugh! ;)
Hey!  I'll have you know I AM a parent!

Wow can't the parents accept what WILL happen? And what will happen is that Bregdoir will become king.
Of course they can't.  They had their winner chosen before the contest started.

Oh, Harlequin will have plenty of time and opportunities to kill many people  :=)

Oh, I already have plans for how the ending will go.  Three plans.  Regardless of the outcome, I'm prepared   ;=)

Yeah, I was going to say, this was meant to toughen Caoin up and make him more of a leader, it just isn't working so far. It does seem to be toughening Breagadoir up, though--the one who doesn't need it--

I quite liked that little scene, Pippin. Well done with the scenery and all.

Thanks!  I had fun setting that one up, and of course, I'll have lots of fun with the storyline this will set up  ;=)

Philosopher,

You've put it just the way I meant it  ;)  All the king and queen are doing is prepping Breagadoir to take over whether he wins the thing or not.

The Elven Town Jump-The Plot Thickens

The Breagadoir household now has two young men in residence and Breagadoir and Harlequin could not be happier.

"Isn't Aeric great," Breagadoir said as he hugged his beloved.
"Yep, he gets that from me," responded Harlequin.
"That other kid's okay too," he added.
Her resonse was, "Who?"

"Oh, are you coming to begin Leithleach's training as the new heir," asked an enthusiastic Sotal.
"What?" asked Breagadoir, "Oh, sorry, no.  I was just going to check up on our son."
Sotal started to reply, but thought better of it when he saw Harlequin's glare.

"How's the brilliant scientist doing?" asked a beaming Breagadoir as he stepped into the room Aeric shared with the heir.

"It seems your father has lost his focus, Sotal," came an unfamiliar voice.
"Who's there?" asked the confused elf.

"I'm the watcher for Breagadoir and his heirs," she replied, "unfortunately, it seems that this terrible new child is distracting him from his necessary focus on his heir."
"Yes," said Sotal, as he began turning things over in his mind, "young Aeric is an unfortunate distraction..."
"A distraction which could be removed," the watcher suggested.  "In fact, one simple phone call could fix everything..." and she proceeded to lay out the plan that would remove the distraction and put things back on track.

"Yes," came the answer.
"It's your nephew," replied Sotal, "I have a proposition for you..."

Lol. I wonder who Sotal was talking to? Very suspicious and I think that handmaiden/Watcher is overstepping boundaries. Hasn't she ever heard the term: seen but not heard from? She's just the "help" after all.

Breagadoir has a child with his true love. Sorry, Sotal. You're just lucky you came first.

Yeah, I know.

Leithleach is a bloodsucker?! Well that can't be in the rules! The heir is supposed to be an elf, not a vampire. Unless the elves have a vampiric sub-species? Do explain yourself Sotal!! (I'm just rooting for Raven's grandkid, mind you)

She's been pressured into meddling.  The monarchy seems to be filled with control freaks with no control  :=)

True stuff.  Aeric is the child Breagadoir wishes he could have made quite some time ago.

Yeah, I know.

Leithleach is, in fact, a vampire.  However, he is clearly an elf.  All the elven features and such, he just happens to also have vampirism flowing through his veins.

Well, I guess with Vampires, you can be a human and get bitten and turned, or you can be an elf and then get bitten and turned?

Nah, it's just that Pippin has his own ideas what constitutes an elf, based on skin colour and ear point. As these characteristics are entirely unrelated to in-game life state, they are compatible with any life state. Leithleach was not bitten, he was born a vampire because his mother's one. I swear I just had this conversation with Pippin awhile back . . .

And Pippin, this is just cruel. How dare you make the plot thicken right as you're leaving?  :-\
