He? I'm getting an ominous feeling. Perhaps "he" is his father, or his brother, or... uhm.

As they walked through the park on the way to their destination, Breagadoir stopped off for a bit of fun.

This gave Damon a chance to talk with Sotal.
"I still don't understand what we're doing," the enforcer began.
"It's simple, really," replied the heir.

He then continued, "Looking through the research Chauncey Grimm had done, Father learned of a mage that could teach him the secrets he needed.  You see, Father's magic does not broach the realms of necromancy."
"Necro...what?" asked a puzzled Damon.
"Necromancy.  It's magic dealing with death, to put it simply," explained the heir, remembering that his brother has no magic nor knowledge of it.

"But why are we heading to the basement area of the library?" asked Damon, still confused.  "Didn't he already find the books?"
"Yes," replied Sotal, patiently.  He knew his brother was as loyal as the day is long, but just didn't have the brain for plots and schemes.  "The tomes Father read told of a powerful necromancer who once lived here."
"At the library?"

"No," clarified Sotal.  "I said 'here' meaning Moonlight Falls.  This necromancer was known as Peanut Bahl, but Father has learned his true name from the tomes."

"Heh heh, his name's Peanut," chuckled the enforcer.
"Stay focused," said Sotal.  "Father is going to use the power of the true name to bind this necromancer.  Father will then make this mage teach him how to bring one dead back to full life."

"I still don't get why we're at the library," Damon admitted.
"Father found an extra room in the blueprints he stole from City Hall.  One of the Goth ghosts came and confirmed that there is a hidden room.  We just need to find the entrance."

"The clues seem to indicate the door is disguised as a bookcase," their father told them.  "Start searching."

But it was their father who ended up finding it.

"You two will need to wait out here," Breagadoir told his sons.  "I'll bind him and learn the secrets I need, but it will be very exhausting to sustain the spell that long.  I'll need you to help me get home."
"Of course, Father," confirmed Sotal.

"I don't like it," said Damon.  "I want to be in there to protect him."
"Realistically," said Sotal, attempting to comfort his brother,

"the risen shade would simply take over your body and make you more of a threat to Father than a help."
"Oh..."

Breagadoir began the spell to raise and bind the spirit of Peanut Bahl, the necromancer.

As he was reaching the end of the incantation, the urn began to rattle and a mist rose from it.

The spirit instantly tried to flee, only to find that it was bound within the walls of its tomb and drawn to the will of its summoner.
"Well, I must admit," began Breagadoir, "I'd expected you to look more impressive."

@Swirl-Girl, Wiry:

For there once were two
Wiry Schemey McPlotfinder knows who
She was the heir
Her rabid twin the spare
Her grave was misplaced
But there's another Watcher in space
Who told the one most evil,
Which green soap colored elf did transgress
Too late for him to confess
For the dark lady knows well
And she, herself, works with Grim on a wicked magic spell
To send that thief most heinous, to the deepest, darkest, fieriest pit in hell.

No one's hair will ever be that golden, that fluffy. Not even Pantene or Clairol can give us what the McPlotfinder has ;D

The Elven Town Jump-The Chat and The Fiance
« Reply #509 on: July 25, 2013, 12:11:26 AM »

"Today's the day I ask Father's blessing so I can marry Lana," Sotal announced to his brother.

"What?" asked his brother, as if pulled from a stupor.  "I was just wondering why you still have dad's hair."

Lana came over later that day.  The couple chatted with a giddy excitedness.  She was so delighted to know this handsome heir to a throne wanted to be with her.  She'd never thought she was special, but he made her feel like she was his whole world.

Yet here he was, talking about marrying her, and having the next heir be their child.

"When he comes over," Sotal said, "just let me talk.  He can be a bit domineering at times."
She nodded.

"Father, it is getting to be about time for me to start thinking about marriage," he began.
"That's exactly what I wanted to chat with you about," Breagadoir replied.

"In fact," he continued, "I've already chosen the perfect woman for you."
"But, Father," the heir tried to interject.
"Countess Snypes," said the elven prince.

"But, Father," Sotal tried again.
Breagadoir continued, "We made an arrangement that she would come along and start a new coven in Appaloosa Plains and Damon will take control of the coven here in her stead.  That way, he gets to stay with his lady love.  Of course, the Countess will have to turn him, but that's a trivial matter.  Effectively, she maintains this coven and adds a new one, and I gain a foothold in the vampiric covens."

"But, Father," Sotal tried again.
"I'm sorry," Breagadoir said, "were you trying to tell me you don't want to fulfill your duties as the heir?  That's fine.  I'm sure Nadine will be happy to take your place."
"Umm, no, it's just..." the heir began.
"It's okay," Lana interjected.  "I understand.  I'll just...walk away.  I got to feel special for a while, at least."

"Oh no," interjected the elven prince, "I'm arranging for a love nest for the two of you.  I don't expect you to forsake what you have because of this.  This is just a marriage of convenience."
"What?" asked Lana in a mixture of shock, disgust, joy, and resignation.
And so he purchased this out of the way place for Lana, where she could work on her writing and "entertain company."

"Oh Breag," cooed Titania, "you're such a romantic."

"I know," concurred the prince.
