Young Peanut enjoyed school as it was his one break from indentured servitude. In fact, he'd even made friends with Mara Nix. He liked her. In middle school terms, he
likeliked her, but he didn't know how to talk to her.
He came home from school one day and realized he lives with the ideal mentor.
"...but you're not nasty like werewolves. Are all elves as handsome as you?" asked the maid.
"No, some of us are just more blessed than others," replied the prince.
Oh yeah, this was a great mentor for the impressionable young boy.
"S-sir," began the timid Peanut, "may I ask you for some advice? It's just, you see sir, I feel like such a square sometimes..."
"Because you are," offered the prince.
"Yes, sir, because I am, but I really want to get this girl, you see..."
"Are we talking about kidnapping?" asked the prince, "Because that may be your only shot."
However, the helpful prince listened in and gave the young lad some advice.
"...so, you're saying I should invite her to the Spooky Day festival and do a pompadour hairdo?" asked Peanut.
"Sure, the hairdo may draw attention away from your ugly face, Pistachio."
"Peanut," he corrected.
"Sorry?"
"My name is Peanut," Peanut clarified.
"No," answered the prince, "I'm pretty sure it's Pistachio. I'm pretty good with names."
Peanut found himself wishing he'd brought along his umbrella. Mara had hers, and was kind enough to have brought an extra.
"Thanks," said Pistachio...Peanut...whoever. "It looks like...well...it's raining and...the precipitation cycle is..."
"You're welcome, Peanut," she said, with a slight chuckle at his awkwardness.
"Well, I should get going," she told him, "there seem to be zombies and I have another date."
"Another date?" he said sadly.
"You are
so much better looking than that goofy boy," Mara said to her other date.
"Goofy boy?" he asked. "You mean Pomegranate?"
"Peanut," she corrected.
"No, I'm pretty sure it's Pomegranate," he said. "I'm pretty good with names."
"And," the prince continued, "when you age up, we'll talk about other things I'm good at."
Pomegranate...Peanut asked the prince if he could invite his young lady friend over to the house so they could get to know each other better. Breagadoir readily agreed.
"Hello again," said Mara.
"Hello yourself," said Breagadoir.
"Hello
again?" asked Peanut.
"Yeah," said Mara, "this was my other date."
Mara aged up the next day, and the Nix household had a visitor.
Peanut couldn't make it to her birthday celebration. He had chores to do.
