Emelie was excited. She still had an adrenaline rush from her brief encounter with Pip Goodfellow, and now her husband seemed to be recommitting himself to her. She felt positively giddy as she changed into her outfit for their night out.
"Black and red," she said to herself as she admired her outfit. "His favorite color combination."
He had refused to tell her where they were going, and when they arrived, she was perplexed.
"What is this?" she asked. "Is this enclosure supposed to be a garden or something?"
"No," he replied with a smile. "Think of it more as a small ranch..."
"where we raise free range humans for you to consume."
"Ooo," she cooed happily, "that sounds lovely!"
"I even put some vampiric sunscreen in the entryway for you."
"You're so thoughtful," she said as she walked in.
She stopped in sudden shock as she realized who her husband had put in the pen for her: Nightmare Ivy. This young lady had been her nemesis for as long as she could remember.
In fact, she was so captivated by the sight before her, she didn't even notice her husband casting a spell behind her.
Even as the doors to the small building became windows, Nightmare rose from her "slumber" laughing.
As Bregadoir cast another spell, Nightmare settled in to watch her arch rival suffer.
And she would suffer even more since the spell made the roof disappear. She was a vampire trapped in the sunlight and with no plasma supply.
Emelie reached for the vampiric sunscreen wondering what was happening. She wondered briefly if he knew about her encounter with Pip. Surely not. If her husband was truly trying to harm her, he certainly wouldn't have provided the sunscreen.
It wasn't sunscreen. She could hear Nightmare's maniacal laughter. Then, she heard her husband's voice.
"Don't worry," he was saying, "I'm sure Pippy Longstockings will recover from me taking another romantic interest away from him."
"How did you know?" she asked, shocked.
"I had Surtr follow you," he replied with a smile.
Breagadoir and Nightmare simply laughed even louder as Emelie started calling out for help.
"Why do you think he brought you to a
remote location?" asked Nightmare.
Emelie kept calling out anyway.
"Okay, a deal's a del. Here's the text," Nightmare said, handing a small book to Breagadoir.
"Excellent," he said with a wicked smile.
"Who are you texting?" Breagadoir asked.
"Just watch," said Nightmare.
Emelie seemed to have a moment of realization as her phone vibrated. She could call for help! Then she opened the text she'd received. It was from Nightmare and read, "I'm going to jam the phone signal as soon as you read this."
Some time thereafter, as the sun was just starting to set, Emelie finally collapsed. The sunlight and thirst were just too much.
Breagadoir and Nightmare watched as Emelie was collected.
Breagadoir simply smirked as Emelie met with her end.
"Well, I have an appointment to keep," said Breagadoir, as he started sneaking off in the direction of the MacDuff household.
"Goodbye," said Nightmare, then she added, "possibly for the last time..."
