Just making sure you know that you can only age up Sims im your own household and only on their actual birthday. If that was your plan with her, then you could move her in first, wait for birthday, and then age up. (which I think is your intention anyway) Just make sure you don't age her up outside of the household.

Actually, first I planned to invite Shanna over and age her up to a young adult with birthday cake before I have Lyric move out, but after thinking through it I did realize that went against the rules. Thank you for pointing it out, though. But yeah, I realized on my own I would have to move her in and wait for her birthday. Or maybe I'll just skip it all together. We'll see what happens XD

Hey everybody! It's been a while. Sorry, I've had a lot going on lately with preparing for a national SkillsUSA competition, fixing things up around the house, getting a new vehicle, looking at job applications, planning my summer, and finishing up this school year. Also, I'm lazy and have been lacking motivation for a while to continue with this story. But I'm back, bear with me. :)

So, what's up in the Frio house? Cypress waited a little while before getting a job. The house is far past financially stable with Lyric's job and tips, Connor's books, and Zelda's gardening. Cypress had a ton of free time after getting out of high school, so he took the time to work on science, fishing, gardening and handiness. He did eventually apply as a test subject, earning a higher salary than projected due to his experience in the science skill. He moved up the ranks pretty steadily.

I had planned on Lyric's 10 items to be snakes, but after about four or five of them the family found they could be a bit of a pain to take care of. Cleaning and feeding was okay, but being required to play with them became more of a chore than enjoyable.

The family collected snakes until they had about eight of them. Eventually it became too much to deal with and the snakes were sold to.....whoever got them. We'll have to be a little more careful when buying Lyric's snakeskin jackets, I guess. The snakes were all sold and the family pledged to never let the reptiles take over their house again. But when Zelda spotted a Malayan Krait while going around town, she couldn't resist and set him up in Lyric's room. Hello, Apollo II. :)

Unfortunately, not too long after this addition to the family, a subtraction was made...

Connor and Zelda were cuddling together, reminiscing on their fruitful lives. Connor was high up in the ranks of writing and was earning well over the 4000 simoleons per week he aspired when he was young. Zelda reached the top of her gardening career and reached her lifetime wish of having a perfect garden. Cypress finally started to fit in and was making friends and learning lots of things. He loved to take care of his mother's garden and had a steady girlfriend (who finally reached young adult on her own, btw). And Lyric... Lyric loved life. Connor and Zelda both knew somewhere in the back of their heads that Lyric had a duty to fulfill. He was climbing the ladder of the music career, he was an amazing guitar player, he was making plenty of friends of his own, his relationship with Sandi was going strong, and his with his family were very strong. Zelda's last moments were happy in the arms of the man she was suddenly thrown into years back.

Of course, Connor couldn't bear to see her go. This was the woman he loved! When he was younger, living with his older brother and working in a newspaper press office, he would've never imagined to find someone his heart even skipped a beat for. An indescribable force pulled him to this woman with a personality completely opposite to his own. They married, rebuilt his home, had two beautiful children... But now the person he spent his happiest moments in life with was leaving him.

"It's time to let go, Connor," his wife told him "I've never spent a moment suffering with you, but nobody can stay alive forever."

"But what if you ate those life fruit in the garden instead of selling them all?!"

"I can't avoid death. I evaded it for a while getting tattoos and snacking on things from the garden while nobody saw, but it's my time now."

Zelda took the hand of death with grace.

The garden became solely Cypress', and he enjoys taking care of it every single day.

Zelda's guitar went to Lyric. Lyric can't quite make himself able to play the guitar his mother loved, but he keeps it safe in his room where he can admire it.

Connor finds even the simplest, most mundane of daily activities to be impossible when he can't stop and hold his wife. His brother died of old age a bit before Zelda did and he dealt with it without too much pain. Now that Zelda is gone, he finds himself thinking about his brother more. He thinks about Connor's ex-girlfriend, Claire, and her death. He feels guilty for not paying more attention to his niece, Stephenie. It becomes apparent to him that Landgraabs and Goths are gone except for their sons. Hank Goddard from down the street is gone, and Pauline's age is showing. Zelda's sister and brother-in-law are long gone. Parker and Kaylynn are all grown up. Connor thinks he may be going insane.

Connor knows his own time will come eventually and he'll be reunited with his wife. Until then, he's going to spend time with his remaining family. His two sons are all he has left, and he's going to stay by them for as long as possible. He knows Lyric and Cypress love him just as much as he loves them, and their presence will get him through until his time does come.

Rest in Peace, Zelda Mae Frio. It's sad to see all of the familiar faces gone already. I can't help but laugh at the last screenshot, though. I guess Connor doesn't like his marshmellows burnt, does he?  ;)

(Also, there's a screenshot link in there that's missing a bracket. Right around the time Zelda died.)

Thank you, I went through and fixed them, I think I got it all. :)

Yeah, it's sad to realize they're all leaving... Even sadder because without mods or any other interference they just don't seem to want to reproduce. Even River McIrish is an elder! Sunset Valley is becoming a huge elderly home, hahaha. It's a little depressing.

And I guess it's a little disheartening when you burn your food but your son's marshmallows are just fine ;D Hahaha

Rest in peace, sweet Zelda. You lived a wonderful life.

I love the way that you portrayed Connor's emotions. Grief can be a challenge to write, but you managed it quite well. :)

Hey, it's been a while, right? Well, I've been out and around a lot this summer and I was lazy and lost interest for a while, but here's a small update which should be followed by another before too too long as long as my muse doesn't run away again.
Also, a couple weeks back my game crashed and I lost some data, but I've got it back again. I got rid of some screenshots on accident so I don't have everything that I wanted, but it's okay, we'll recover, kids. :)

We left off with Connor mourning the death of his wife.

Cypress has kept contact with his high school crush, but they haven't visited each other in a while. After the death of his mother, he invited Shanna to the park to meet up. She's turned out to be a plain but very pretty-faced woman.

They spent some time together and Cypress discovered that he wanted to be with this girl forever. It wasn't a crush anymore. Shanna was fully grown and their spark was struck again. He took Shanna over to Stoney Falls. Cypress watched her frolic in the sprinkler and slip 'n' slide for a while before pulling her aside and popping the question.

She's was thrilled and the pair was so excited that they couldn't wait to throw a party. They truly couldn't wait, they married there in Stony Falls--Cypress in his Letterman jacket and Shanna in her swimsuit and fins.

They went home and Connor and Lyric were both happy enough. However, Connor finally spoke up and told Cypress to get all of that darned lab equipment out of his bedroom now that he had a wife that would share it with him. The science equipment went upstairs next door to Lyric's room and was accompanied by a new chemistry set and desk.

Mister Plasma Bug moved as well and is content with his new surroundings.

It felt a shame to have Shanna looking so bland. Upon arrival to her new home she got a new outfit along with jewelry and make-up.

Shanna turned out to be a really social one. She took on helping Cypress with the friend-making and did lots of socializing while he was working.

But Shanna is also curious about a lot of other activities. The potion set is something else she enjoys. It's pretty cute watching her concocting potions while her husband is nearby taking samples from plants and such.

She helps around the house a lot, trying her hand at cleaning and cooking for the three men in the house... Repairing the radio just isn't one of her strong points, unfortunately.

That's the first time I had ever had one of my own sims electrocuted, so I was pretty surprised. She was only in her new house a few days and I just about lost her. Cypress and Connor were griefstricken. It was even harder considering Zelda had just died a few days ago. Luckily Lyric wasn't around to see it. He was performing a concert.

I say "just about lost her" because I forgot all about a little factor that ended up saving her: Shanna has the unlucky trait. The Grim Reaper recognized her pathetic luck and took pity on her and the family, bringing Shanna back to life. Understandably she wanted to kiss Cypress and get rid of the radio as soon as she was back.

Connor was relieved. He took the event as a little call from Zelda, wherever she was. Their family would be okay.

That bit of reassurance seemed to be just what Connor needed to move on. He moved on from the loss of Zelda, but it was also time for him to move on from this world, knowing his two sons would be okay without him. It wasn't long after dinner just a day or two after Shanna's near death experience that Connor passed while Shanna was putting the dishes in the dish washer.

As gold and sparkles surrounded him, Connor had a spike of fear and regret. But it passed quickly when he saw Shanna there. That's right, Cypress had a wife and would be starting his own family. He had a steady career with a great income and would be able to live here in the Frio home.

And Lyric... Lyric was doing just fine. He nearly had the guitar skill supermaxed and he was a rockstar, just as he always dreamed. His relationship with Sandi is great and before long they would be able to move in together and start their own family.

And away he went. He would see his wife once more and they would be able to hold each other again and watch their children and future generations move along through life.

Rest in peace, Connor Frio.

Nope, that's coming up next :)
I really got scared a bunch of times with supermaxing guitar, but it worked out in the end with a few days to spare. It was those darn opportunities, but I somehow managed it.

A few nights later, Lyric stepped out of the theater having completed his final guitar opportunity. There wasn't any more time to waste.

The next day he would finally marry Sandi French and move in with her. Here's where we lost a few photos, which really upsets me because I had some cute spontaneous wedding shots, but what can you do?

Lyric looked around the home he grew up in. There were a lot of memories and emotions, but he would make even more living with his new wife. Before he left, Lyric peeked in his parents' old room. The bed was still made and everything was still untouched, but he felt he needed to check. On either side of the bed there were little trinkets of Connor and Zelda's lives. On Zelda's side of the bed was her trophy she had received for being such an amazing gardener. Connor's side held a simply cut diamond he had found and given to Zelda when they were both old but still very much in love. At that moment Lyric almost brought one of his father's books to set beside the bed so something could be shown for his achievements, but he stopped himself and nearly laughed when he remembered how his father couldn't stand books sitting around anywhere except for in the bookcase upstairs. He remembered how Zelda would throw parties to celebrate whatever she felt like and how guests would seem to ignore the television and instead read books, but never put them back. After the festivities were done and Zelda was retreating from her party-high, Connor would walk around grumbling and putting his precious books away.

The little diamond looked insignificant next to the large trophy, but Lyric knew that if anything was to be left in remembrance for his father, Connor would want his unconditional love for the woman that helped him open up.

Sandi French's home was very... Artistic from the outside, but the inside just didn't quite do. More space was needed for sure.

The only other person that lived with Sandi was the elderly River McIrish, who had seemingly gone invisible. She left.

Before taking on worries about renovating the house, Lyric and Sandi took a little time to make lovey faces and sappy comments after Sandi took the Young Again potion Lyric brought with him when he moved (purchased as a lifetime reward so as not to break any rules).

And Sandi introduced Lyric to his welcoming gift...A new guitar! A little bird told her beforehand that Lyric wouldn't be able to bring his old guitar or his mother's along with him to his new home.

And with that, Lyric went to go play for some tips in the subway-to-nowhere up in the hills for some renovation money. And Sandi? Well, she didn't really have a care in the world. She was still trying to get over the fact she finally was able to live with her long love and start a family.

While Lyric was out, Sandi's wardrobe was updated. I tried to incorporate her favorite color: Red.

I think she's pretty cute :)

After a few sim-hours, our friend Lyric came home with tens of thousands of dollars simoleons. He's just that good.

And then the house was fixed up. Some rooms removed, some rooms expanded, a second floor added and some redecoration. I don't think it's too bad. It'll be added on to as we go through this generation, I'm sure.

Forgot I took those in build mode before adding the fence around that big empty patch of wood on the 2nd floor and all of the second floor windows. Whoops. But not too shabby, if I do say so myself. :)

And with the house fixed up the couple ate dinner... (Autumn Salad with lettuce from the little garden that was already there when Lyric moved in)

Enjoyed each other's presence...

And got busy bringing on the second heir of the Frio-Mae Decadynasty.

Also, if anyone wants to know, when Lyric moved in Sandi's traits were Slob, Bookworm, Excitable, Never Nude, And one more trait I can't quite remember... Her lifetime wish was Swimming in Cash and was quickly fulfilled thanks to the tips Lyric gathered and I purchased the Midlife Crisis reward for her. Her traits are now Bookworm, Genius, Computer Whiz, Lucky, and Handy. I chose these traits because she had a degree in Technology from university and was on the second rank of the Video Game Developer track. I'm not sure if I'll keep her there or not since finances are beyond stable and the next heir will be on the way, but even if she doesn't keep her job she can still make some change hacking or discovering things with a telescope.

Everything is well so far. Lyric's new wife loves to play video games and make home movies.

She's also taken to tending to the small garden moved to the backyard.

But her favorite thing above all seems to be reading. Understandable for a bookworm.

She's even gotten Lyric into it. She's been to the library and read some of the books by her late father-in-law.

The day after they moved in, Lyric's boss, Alysia Bishop invited him to a party. After performing a concert in the late afternoon, he decided to go with Sandi.

It wasn't the most exciting get together. It mostly consisted of all five guest standing around the bedroom and chatting until dinner was served. But Cypress was there!

Over in the back you can see Leighton and Sam Sekemoto. Yup, Leighton is still alive.

Sandi didn't socialize a lot. She spent a lot of time standing in the front yard trying to figure out how to change into her formal wear. Once she did, she rushed inside and vomited. A baby is coming! :D

Alysia made some mac 'n cheese. That was pretty much the highlight of the night.

Sandi was forced to go eat standing in the corner for having dressier formal wear than everyone else and running past the host to throw up during the party.

The next day we got to see that (very slight) baby bump appear and Lyric was thrilled.

I guess after finding out about his wife's pregnancy Lyric started to feel a little old. Or maybe he just felt the need to celebrate. He headed over to the beachside salon and got his first tattoo.

Yes, feeling much more youthful.

Lyric was a great help through Sandi's uneventful pregnancy. He helped out with the garden...

Bought baby furniture early and put it together as his wife desired... (And kept it matching the rooms! What a guy!)

And finally hung up that painting his brother sent as a housewarming and marriage gift.

Also, even with being married and an expecting father, Lyric's romance hasn't faded in the least bit. When going out to buy a few books, Lyric stopped at the library afterwards to surprise Sandi with flowers and a backrub, knowing she would show up there to do some reading and get out of the house.

He even stayed with her for a while to read up on pregnancy and parenting. Thank God for Baby Incoming: Preparing with Vigilance.

Later on they parted ways. Sandi went to the diner (perhaps for the grape cobbler she's been craving) and Lyric went off to the theater for an autograph session. He came across good ol' Arlo Bunch while he was there.

Oh, Arlo. I'll miss your strange face when you pass.

And what timing! Sandi didn't even get to finish her meal before she rushed out the back door of the diner. She was in labor, and she waddled herself right over to the hospital which just happened to be right next door. Lyric was busy signing autographs, so he never even found out where his wife was.

After a relatively short birthing, a nooboo came into the world on a Tuesday at 9:30 pm. Another male.

Everybody welcome the second heir, Jersey Frio.

Jersey is a cutie and he's already being spoiled.

Lyric dotes over his son nonstop when he's not performing concerts. He's often the one that gets up at night when Jersey is lonely or needs a diaper change. Maybe it's because he got to take care of Cypress a bit when he was little, but he seems to be a natural at nooboo care.

Sandi does well with Jersey, too. After giving birth she wanted to quit her job to be a full time home mother, so I let her. She loves to take Jersey on walks.

'

Don't worry, she'll get the hang of it soon enough.

But look at that face! Tell me he's not a little charmer ;)

Soon enough Jersey's birthday came around and Sandi wanted to throw a party. Cypress and Shanna were invited along with cousin Stephenie Ursine, the newspaper girl Lyric befriended, and Lyric's boss, Alysia. Milton Tong showed up on his own.

It was a pretty good time. People stood around the tv, but nobody watched it. They were content with chatting and looking at their surroundings. Alysia ended up in the corner at this party, stuck crying to the lamp about a lost friend.

Alysia was cheered up a bit when Milton invited her out of the corner for a slow dance.

Lyric got to hang out with his brother and Sandi got to properly meet the family.

Apparently cinnamon tricks aren't welcome at parties. Lyric dared his brother to swallow a spoonful of cinnamon and Shanna and Sandi rushed over to admonish Cypress.  Lyric and Sandi both got the "rude guest" moodlet. There are some thing I just won't understand. Sandi complained to Lyric about Cypress' behavior, and he agreed to avoid trouble. How dare he accept a spoonful of cinnamon.

Lyric helped Jersey blow out his candles, but nobody rushed to watch. They were busy talking and dancing.

No need to be so stoic, Lyric. There'll be more birthdays.

What a cutie :)

And here are the obligatory close-ups:

He appears to be a Lyric clone, but it's hard to say as a toddler. I often misjudge genetics.

In the end, Jersey had a nice, calm birthday party with guests that were all pleased that they attended. Watch out for more in the life of our second heir and his family.

I think Jersey might have a bit more of Sandi that it seems. It looks to me (and I misjudge genetics just as often) like he might have some of Sandi's smaller facial structure. He is adorable either way, of course.
