The Frio-Mae Townie DecaDynasty

Hi there, everyone! Been stalking around this site and forums for a long time, but only just recently made myself an account to join in on the forums. I've done some challenges before on my own, but never published them. This is my first time doing the Townie DecaDynasty, and I thought I'd share it with you all

Excuse me for the fact I didn't get any decent photos to start out with, but let's start off on an awkward note and I promise to do better the next time around.

This dynasty begins with a young man named Connor Frio. I'm sure you all are familiar with the semi-ginger -- Loner, Bookworm, Unflirty, Good, and Absent-Minded. As you may or may not know, Mr. Frio has a wish to become a Professional Author, making $4000 per week in book royalties. First thing I did was have him ditch his job as an Automatic Spell-Checker. Sorry to any Journalism fans, but I'm just not a big fan of that track in Sims. He'll do a lot better financially and he'll enjoy himself a lot more as a shut-in spending each and every day slaving over a computer. Next, went into buy/build mode and messed around with the house a bit... I wasn't in a building mood and I don't have much of a plan yet, so I just upgraded some furniture, sold some unneeded objects, recolored some things, blah blah blah.

So after all that, what is there to do? Connor left for some business, and his older brother was promptly kicked out.



He's thrilled, trust me. That's his excited face.

So where DID Connor get to? Well, he took a taxi to nowhere...And ended up at the Langerak house! What a coincidence, because there was someone for him to meet.



Little Miss Zelda Mae, who is actually about fifteen days older than him. Connor may be unflirty and a little antisocial,  but judging by Zelda's face, he knows to never ask a lady her age and stood by that universal rule. So they chatted it up for a while and became friends quite quickly despite their near polar opposite personalities and interests. Connor knows he has a job to do, so he invites her to his house.



Under a little guidance and commanding, Connor asked Zelda some more personal questions. A single Leo! Perfect for a single Libra like himself!



Zelda seemed to know she'd have to take some control. Maybe she was in cahoots with Jared the whole time. She actually did a lot of flirting, and Connor didn't have any problem with it, except for the initial moment when they discovered conflicting traits. While Connor was unflirty, Zelda was flirty. But as stated, Connor didn't give her much trouble.



Well, that escalated quickly.



One is a flirt, the other doesn't want anything to do with it, but tolerates it. One is a party animal, the other just wants to sit in bed with a nice book. One wants to bask and garden in the sun, one wants to keep the blinds drawn so there's no glare off his laptop screen. One is easily impressed, one...... Might not get it the first time... He's absentminded, but we'll work with it. Stay tuned, next we'll have make-overs, the pair going to start their new at-home jobs, and a surprise that isn't actually that surprising to a dynasty/legacy fan!

I am in strong agreement with azokka on this one. There is a very distinct wit to this story that I'm enjoying. I really like the duality between Conner and Zelda's personalities. You really couldn't have two Sims any more different, could you?

My original plan was actually to have Agnes and Conner, but one, I saw that somebody else was already posting the same challenge with that pairing and two, I've played that pair before. Wanted to try something new.

 And we're back! Let's get on with things! First off, wanted to show the house...





See? Not much change... But maybe as time goes on I'll be more motivated to make renovations. I just don't have much I want to change right now.
Anyway, on with the show!

We left off with Connor meeting Zelda, becoming her friend, dating her, proposing to her, and marrying her in one night. And he claims to be an unflirty loner! the next morning, they still seemed to be doing fine.



Forgot to get rid of the Social Bunny poster, whoops. He is watching your socials. After the lovey moments, Zelda and Connor had breakfast. Afterwards, I set forward to fix up their wardrobe and such.



There's a couple outfits I stuck on our friend Connor. Trimmed the facial hair up a bit, but still left that nice little stubble

And now, Zelda.

Her favorite color is pink, and I really like it on her. With her Party Animal, Easily Impressed, and Childish traits I wanted to try to give her a whimsical appearance without it being completely overgrown-child, yeah? I think it's cute.

After they were dressed up and ready to lead a 10 generation dynasty, Connor and Zelda went out to City Hall to both sign up as self-employed. Oh, yeah, I ended up making Zelda drop her job, too. She still loves to play guitar, but she's gonna be a gardenin' mama.



Oh, wait. Did I say mama?



Well, the cat's out of the bag! That night Zelda jumped out of bed to watch her tummy bloat up just a tiny bit and change her clothes. Don't mind your wife, Connor. Just do whatever you're doing.

The next morning, when Zelda had her husband's full attention, she told him the big news.


"Great! But where the plumbob did those pajamas come from?"


"Is it speaking yet? Say 'dada'!"

Don't worry, he'll figure it out. Until then, endless backrubs.


Edit: I just realized I've been spelling Connor's name wrong. I could've sworn he used an "er" instead of "or". Fixing that!

Audren: I designed her maternity wear ahead of time and put her in it before she dicovered she was pregnant. Forgot to do that with the pajamas, though XD

Before I start the third section, I have a question. I have read over many people's Decadynasty stories and I've read over the rules multiple times. I do know that the rules state that for an heir to supermax a skill, it can not be supermaxed by any other heir. However, I've seen a lot of people that work hard to prevent other family member from even reaching level 10 of a skill an heir is supermaxing. I'm a little confused by this. Could someone tell me where in the rules it says another member can't reach level ten in the same skill? For example, say an heir was trying to supermax fishing. Why wouldn't the heir's mother or someone be able to reach level 10 of fishing, as long as they don't supermax it? If someone can explain that to me or tell me I'm wrong, that'd be great!

ANYWAY...

After telling Connor of her pregnancy, Zelda immediately got a wish to read a pregnancy book. Connor did as well, but he already had all four wish slots filled up, so he's writing instead for now. One slot is taken up by his wish to have a child with Zelda, the other three are writing related and perfect for my plans. Write a novel, write a science-fiction novel, and write a novel worth at least $30 in royalties per week. Since he already had a writing skill of 3 at this point, finishing up a science fiction novel he was already working on knocked out all three of those wishes.

After finishing reading her book, Zelda had the sudden urge to throw a party. Sure, why not? She's only in her first day of pregnancy, so no fear of cutting the party short by going into labor in the middle of it.



All of the Langeraks were invited and showed up, and everyone enjoyed the turkey dinner Iliana brought. She seems a little upset, though.



Probably because all the dining chairs are taken up and now she has to sit with Jared on the couch...


Jared doesn't seem to mind the thought of it, though. And in fact, I actually caught these two flirting around in the kitchen at one point while Dustin was talking with Zelda. Forgot to get a picture of that, though.

A lot of Connor's time was spent reading downstairs in his bedroom, uncomfortable with all of the people in his house. He eventually came back upstairs to take the time to meet with Zelda's family and visit his older brother. Despite being mean-spirited, Jared doesn't seem to hold any kind of grudge against Connor for kicking him out.



It's understandable that Jared's in a good mood, however. Check out the house he ended up with despite leaving with nothing but very little money, a digital camera and a boombox (oh yeah, Connor sold his truck).



Not bad, Jared! He finally looks happy!




Oh, nevermind.

The next day, Connor started writing his second science fiction novel, Time Seeker. Zelda tended her garden (currently consisting of apple, lettuce, and tomato plants) and went to the library to study up on gardening. I also got her up to level one in charisma. Make it a little easier to get some friends in the household.



In the children's area of the library, Zelda met a tourist from Egypt, Ra'ed Ra. She talked to him for a little while, but not enough to get past the acquaintance relation. She also learned two songs from him -- "Where's My Mummy?" and "Under the Hot Desert Sun". I remember for a while I wouldn't let any of my sims learn songs form other countries because they just wouldn't stop singing them and it got annoying... If it gets annoying, I'll just make sure Zelda doesn't teach her family the songs. I mean, she'll die eventually, right? Anyway, back on topic...



And then, the next day, around 8 or 9 at night when everything was winding down and Zelda and Connor were talking...




They looked each other in the eyes and knew it was time.

The couple went to the hospital, and funnily enough, Zelda's brother-in-law and sister just happened to be hanging around in front of the hospital at night.


"Oh, fancy seeing you here!"

It's a boy! The baby was born around 10 at night, friendly and artistic...
What to name him? Joe? Bob? Brian?
No, those are all too bland for a Decadynasty. Let's look into these parents' traits and hobbies. Connor like to read and write, Zelda loves to party and work in her garden... And despite not being a virtuoso, she still loves her guitar...

As for your question, if an heir SuperMaxes a skill, no other heir can get that skill up to level 10, even if the skill challenges are not completed. If Lyric was to SuperMax guitar, then no other heir could max Guitar at all. However, this only applies to the heirs. Zelda, for example, could max Guitar if she felt like it, but Lyric's child could not.
