Not sure if this counts as my Sims' worst day or my worst Sims day...you decide.
Background:
I am currently playing a Build A City Challenge. You start with one sim and try to get to a population of 50,000 which is calculated by multiplying the number of sims in your city times a multiplier. The challenge begins with only one community lot. Another community lot can be added for every four households added to the game.
I have 32 households in my current game. Most of these started with a single sim who then got married and had children. A few households I created in CAS and added as whole families. I've played each family several times in rotation so I know EVERY non NPC sim in my game very well.
The Tragedy:
Today, I was playing a family of four, mom, dad, child, and baby. The dad, a high school teacher and his daughter went to school as normal. About half way through the day, the daughter wonders why the sky is getting dark. Okay, I know what is happening but I figure they are safe. There are in the school. A few seconds later, the meteor slams into the school. Not the front lawn, not the playground, but smack into the center of school. There is a huge fireball in the center of the school!
I notice an action queued up after the school action for the little girl. I put my mouse over it to see what it was...Expire!
The little girl is going to die, but apparently not until she finishes her math test.
I switch control over to her father who is now standing outside the school reacting to the meteor. OH great, I'm going to lose him too. He ducks. Crash, a meteor lands beside him on the right, then another on his left but he is okay. Whew!
What happens next is unbelievable.
The door opens and the fiery image of his boss, the father of twins, emerges and collapses on the ground. Then, one by one, the images of the children and the teenages start queing up for my sim to mourn. As they start to come out of the school, I think oh no, not Morgan, not Jolie. I lost count how many children died but I know it was more than 10. At one time, the screen had at least 10 things in his queue which was odd because I thought you could only queue up nine. (I have a screenshot)
The whole town is in mourning. I'm still in shock. I won't know for sure who all was lost until I play through my families. That horrible day ended and it was time for me to switch families. A sister of one the teens that died showed up at her half-brother's house. Her first social was "cry on shoulder". It was heartbreaking. Her brother had lost his daughter, Jolie too.
Now, I save the game before I switch households and lately, I have been getting the "error code 12" message ALOT. I thought well, maybe I will get lucky and it will error on me. But nope, not this time.
What made me sad, besides watching half of my city's children die, was that I was planning to save these families to the bin to use for future challenges or to populate a world with someday and I hadn't gotten around to doing that yet. The science center and the graveyard didn't exist in my city yet either. So, the grave stones for the children not in the family I was playing disappeared. There is no way for me to resurrect them except for the one I was playing at the time.
Sims' worst day? or worst sims day?
