Your Sims' worst day?
« on: May 11, 2013, 08:19:47 PM »
Howdy all. Inspired by what happened in my game tonight, I'm curious what tales of woe other players have to share -- what was the worst day your Sims ever went through without you deliberately causing trouble for them? Here's mine:

I'm playing a married witch (Mardea) and fairy (Lariel) in Moonlight Falls. Their dog had died the previous day, so in an attempt to distract the ladies from their grief I sent them to the winter festival. They built snowmen, bought eggnog and gingerbread cookies, then had their picture taken. So far so good, but it was not to last. Lariel is a high-level Rebel and she wanted to use her microphone, so I allowed her to blow off some steam by ranting about death.

I think you can guess what happened next. ::) It had totally slipped my mind that doing this is NOT a good idea. Thankfully, poor Lariel got off with a warning and a big negative moodlet. With her and me both feeling rather shaken, I let her try her luck at snowboarding while Mardea, who was heavily pregnant and thus couldn't join her or go skating, rolled a wish to socialize with a werewolf. Conveniently, Pappy Wolf was also there, so I sent her to say hello and fire off a few friendly socials.

Suddenly he GRABBED her and did the new "heat of the moment kiss" interaction! I cancelled it immediately -- but it was too late, they were now listed as romantic interests, she got slapped with the Cheater reputation and lost all her friends but one. She barely had time to break up with him before Lariel, who had just fallen off the halfpipe, rushed over mad with betrayal and grief. She wanted to fight, and I really couldn't blame her, so I sicced her on Pappy and she beat the pants off him despite him being a werewolf and her not having any Athletic or Martial Arts skill. Serves him right.  >:( Then I tried to have her and Mardea could sort things out between themselves ...

No such luck. Anything Mardea said got rejected though it wasn't even her fault. Then Pappy, who had been sitting on a bench in the background as if he was gleefully watching the marital drama HE had caused, decided to go into werewolf mode.

And then Mardea went into labor.

And THEN they both passed out in the snow from the shock of seeing Pappy transform.

Honestly, I'm utterly amazed I got to choose their daughter's traits after all that.

I was extremely tempted to reload from my last save, but then decided to roll with it, inane though it is for the game to blame Mardea for Pappy's actions. I just wish there was a way for the two to make up, since I can't find one (not even when controlling Lariel) and the Betrayal moodlet lasts for five days. Guess I'll have to buy Clean Slate for Mardea now, thankfully she can afford it.

But I swear, if either of them ever sees Pappy again before he croaks, he'll get beaten up again as hard as they can manage.

Generation 8 heir of my immortal dynasty was having an adult birthday.    At the party she had no less than 4 deaths and she got a mid life crises.   We went through this.. three times as the game crashed on me and did it all over again.. twice.

The first "worst day" that I remember happened quite recently.

I had been playing with a Sim family for a while. Their daughter had grown up and gotten engaged to a guy with great traits for a townie. Everything was going swimmingly...
Then, the morning of the wedding the mom died. She was 90 days exactly. My husband called me away from the computer at this point and I apparently didn't pause. I came back and it was 2 am the next morning. The wedding had been missed and the father had died. I hurriedly invited the groom over first thing in the morning and stalked him around the house to "have private wedding". Apparently he wanted it to be very private, they ended up getting married in the bathroom, which allowed me to finally find the father's urn (next to the toilet). Finally a member of the household, I looked at the groom's friends list... imagine my surprise when he had SIX romantic interests and his lifetime wish was Heartbreaker.  :o On top of that, he wasn't a young adult anymore, he was 2 days from elder. I checked my female sim to make sure she didn't have the unlucky trait suddenly.  ::)

I had a sim go into labour during a house fire. Then the sister of her husband ranted about death on the microphone in a park. She came home ate and showered them went outside and dropped dead for no reason. She had no negative mood lets or needs. She came back as a ghost which said she had died of freezing. It was snowing but she wasn't out that long.

My sims had a birthday pool party for a child. The cake caught fire, grandma died followed immediately by grandpa an two guests. Grim jumped into the pool for a swim. While I was distracted by all of this, mom evidently accused dad of cheating (due to a deceased fiancée, I think) and their relationship totally tanked. Oh well, at least the birthday boy lived through it all even though he was feeling betrayed, too. Just another day in Simsville.

One of my sims lost both of her parents to old age within five sim hours...right after becoming engaged. :/

I had a Sim who was swimming in a pool when another Sim started splashing her.  He wasn't just playfully splashing.  He was giving her big mean splashes.  She splashed him back and that really set him off!  He splashed her with those big mean splashes over and over until she drowned.  I just stared at my screen in horror.  I'd never seen or heard of such a thing!

A meteor wiped out most of my garden (all but 3 out of 56 plants and most of the fencing) and damaged my front door, lights and a lot of miscellaneous items I had outside.

For the incident with Pappy, I had something similar, he goes to the store and comes home with the betrayed moodlet, daggers at him from his wife and two kids.  I'm going what the HECK!
Looked and somehow he was RI with another sim.  I had him go and break it off with her, then used the cheat to give myself enough point to get the clean slate and also where I could move the bars to where they had been relationship wise.

As for worst days, none of mine have been that bad, the only one that I can think of was when the wife was at work and on the way home hubby, who is swimming right beside the ladder, all of a sudden can't get out of the pool and dies on me!  He was YA ready to go in a couple of days to Adult so it wasn't due to age.  He just couldn't get out and  my game kept lagging so I was stuck unable to get him out.
The twins have a birthday for the next day, so a sad moodlet for a birthday.  To round it off, the cake caught on fire and there went the cake and table.  Maid fortunately put the fire out.
Dad dies one day, at birthday party the cake catches on fire so no cake and three sad members of the family in mourning, not a good couple of days for them.

Not sure if this counts as my Sims' worst day or my worst Sims day...you decide.

Background:
I am currently playing a Build A City Challenge.  You start with one sim and try to get to a population of 50,000 which is calculated by multiplying the number of sims in your city times a multiplier.  The challenge begins with only one community lot.  Another community lot can be added for every four households added to the game.

I have 32 households in my current game.  Most of these started with a single sim who then got married and had children.  A few households I created in CAS and added as whole families.  I've played each family several times in rotation so I know EVERY non NPC sim in my game very well.

The Tragedy:
Today, I was playing a family of four, mom, dad, child, and baby.  The dad, a high school teacher and his daughter went to school as normal.  About half way through the day, the daughter wonders why the sky is getting dark.  Okay, I know what is happening but I figure they are safe.  There are in the school.  A few seconds later, the meteor slams into the school.  Not the front lawn, not the playground, but smack into the center of school.  There is a huge fireball in the center of the school!

I notice an action queued up after the school action for the little girl.  I put my mouse over it to see what it was...Expire!   :(  The little girl is going to die, but apparently not until she finishes her math test.

I switch control over to her father who is now standing outside the school reacting to the meteor.  OH great, I'm going to lose him too.   He ducks.  Crash, a meteor lands beside him on the right, then another on his left but he is okay.  Whew!

What happens next is unbelievable.

The door opens and the fiery image of his boss, the father of twins, emerges and collapses on the ground.  Then, one by one, the images of the children and the teenages start queing up for my sim to mourn.  As they start to come out of the school, I think oh no, not Morgan, not Jolie.  I lost count how many children died but I know it was more than 10.  At one time, the screen had at least 10 things in his queue which was odd because I thought you could only queue up nine.  (I have a screenshot)

The whole town is in mourning.  I'm still in shock.  I won't know for sure who all was lost until I play through my families.  That horrible day ended and it was time for me to switch families.  A sister of one the teens that died showed up at her half-brother's house.  Her first social was "cry on shoulder".  It was heartbreaking.  Her brother had lost his daughter, Jolie too.

Now, I save the game before I switch households and lately, I have been getting the "error code 12" message ALOT.  I thought well, maybe I will get lucky and it will error on me.  But nope, not this time.

What made me sad, besides watching half of my city's children die, was that I was planning to save these families to the bin to use for future challenges or to populate a world with someday and I hadn't gotten around to doing that yet.  The science center and the graveyard didn't exist in my city yet either.  So, the grave stones for the children not in the family I was playing disappeared.  There is no way for me to resurrect them except for the one I was playing at the time.  :(

Sims' worst day?  or worst sims day?

I can agree with that, maybe even both, make what my sims have "suffered" seem like a walk in the park.
