Is it possible to add a roommate to an active household directly?

I currently have a roommate, Sebastian Vanderburg who is living in Hidden Springs. He is the best friend of mine so I thought I could use 'ask to move in' action but actually can't find anywhere in Friendly. 'Ask to move in' works with other friends but they're not roommates though. Should I dismiss a roommate first and then ask to move in or is it supposed to be shown?

Roommates don't get the 'Ask to Move In' interaction.  I wonder if you can shift click on them to add to active household?  Otherwise, you'd have to dismiss the roommate, invite them over and go about it the traditional way.
