Stairs Glitch?

I built my sims a house and gave it spiral stairs. Everything was working fine. I just bought the Pets, via download, and now no one can get up or down the stairs! I've fiddled with it as much as I can, but nothing seems to work. What's the problem? They can stand at the top and the bottom of the steps, but not go up or down. This is really aggravating. Help please?

Yes, multiple times. I also tried resizing nearby rooms and moving doors. They still won't work. They're spiral stairs. I tried using regular stairs, but they wouldn't fit anywhere on the lot. I built a house in a different game, and its stairs worked fine.

You made sure there was nothing near the stairs right?   Sometimes the stairs get caught up when there is a picture on the wall or a window nearby and sometimes if a wall is there which is why I always put them in the middle of a room.  Also makes sure the top of the stairs has an extra clear tile for leading into the stairs and that the bottom of the stairs are pointed away from anything.   

The reason it's so picky is because kids can slide down the bannister.

Hi Redmare,

This stair "glitch" seems familiar to me. Recently I was remodling a house and moved in a Sim family to test out the stairs. The sim person that I sent to test the stairs wouldn't use them. So I scrolled in closer to try to figure out why.

Best I can describe the problem was that the stairs were at the wrong angle. The stair railing can not be touching anything. So what I did was angle the stairs differently - away from the wall and found the sim person could use the stairs.

Try that to see if that might help your situation?

My only confusion is that the stairs worked perfectly fine until I installed the pets...

My solution to this problem when what Mrs. Flynn and Rica suggested didn't work was I took the stairs out and installed an elevator!  Hmmm.  Just had a thought.  Maybe pets can't use spiral stairs at all?  Maybe that's why it was the Pets addition that messed it up for you when it worked just fine before.

I have pets use spiral stairs all the time.    Only puppies, kittens and horses of any life stage can't use stairs of any kind.
