Strange issue, Sims not at University

I'm playing in Bridgeport.  I moved 2 sims into a high rise and sent them to University.  Once University loads, it doesn't give the option to choose a place for them to live.  It gives me the option to create a household, move in a household or choose a household.  It's like starting a whole new town/game.  But I've sent them from home to the University. 

They are living in a different household.  They were grouped in a large house, attended all but one semester of school, moved out (b/c the house was too full), and went to enroll in University, then they leave like normal and .... so on...

Anyone run into this before?  How do I fix it?  I hate to move them back, they just set up a cool apartment, lol!

Yeah I had this problem. I cleared my caches, saves the game as... (From the save before uni) and in that other file I only sent two sims instead of the original four. I think the last one was what really helped, but the others are worth a try I guess. Hope this helped!

I ran into this issue and have yet to figure it out. If you figure it out I would love to know what you do.
