Lack of story progression
« on: May 07, 2013, 07:09:07 AM »
Recently I have been loosing interest in my long generational games due to lack of story progression.I mostly play official dynasty challenges so installing a story progression mod is not the answer. Besides I tried one for a non dynasty game once and found that it went from one extreme to another, with people having multiple relationships within a few days.

I am not expecting a miracle but a couple of babies born to original townies would be nice so that I don't get to generation three and have to deal with just generic bland townies.
Anyone else feel this way.

Incredibly so. Story Progression caused some of my craziest moments, like when Holly's brother was younger than her own children, and when Jenny Jones Brown's child was engaged to her half-sister's mother-in-law. The townies are so interesting, and I'd love it if they were able to continue their families again.

I did, until I perfected my plan of "moving in townie men to spread some joy." Twallan's story progression and my laptop don't mix kindly any more, so dynasty or not, I have to get creative. I also keep all supernaturals on, so I have some original townies sticking around for eons to keep the town looking interesting (which also gives me more people for said townie men to spread the joy to).

Even though I failed my most recent immortal dynasty attempt, that method left me with at least 35 original townie children and a very interesting town even five generations in! And I hope to replicate that success for an attempt that doesn't fail.

Do I want EA to get off their lazy bums and fix story progression? You bet, but not all hope is lost when you get creative.

However, I wouldn't mind it quite as much if the generated townies actually had randomized features. Who thought that the generic faces were a good idea?

Trip,  you might have just saved my attempts at doing a Dynasty. I've had to stick to my legacy with a billion of Twallan's mods installed. I'm not creative!  Do you mind if I steal this method?

I doubt I was the first to think of it anyways. :P

Something that I have done is start a new game and create sims.  It can be a single sim or siblings. Play them long enough to get some money built up, get the steel bladder and then save them to the bin.  Doing that several times lets me have  some single male and female sims of YA that I can add to a game.

Create a family, give both parents the surrounded by family LTW, have a baby, after the baby turns to toddler, put family on static and read the toddler the nine books, teach him/her to talk, walk, potty train and then age up to child.  Let him or her go to school for two or three days, then age up to teen.  Have another baby, twins, do the same but now the teen can help with the babies, give a bottle, read a book, teach to walk.  After the twins have aged up to child have another baby and do the same.  With five offspring the LTW is fulfilled and the parents get some reward points that can be used.  If you want you can age them all up to YA, os just a couple to YA, using the modify to get the traits you want.  Save the family to bin, add them to a town.  You can have the mother become pregnant again and have at least five new teens to YA sims with a baby to add to the town gene pool.

Couldn't be used in a dynasty, but for personal dynasties, which I play a lot of, it helps to add some decent sims who have some nice traits.
