I think it isn't really fair to the non-US citizens, but yes, even if you pre-order a download-version(!) months in advance, you still have to wait at least a day longer than you would have if you had lived in the US.

It's not about what is fair or not.  EA is located in the United States and they release the game first here.  To help the distribution go smoothly, they release to other parts of the world on different days.  They're not just trying to be mean to non-US citizens.

Some of this also reflects other agreements and obligations EA (much like other video game companies) made, such as with brick and mortar stores, to have the same release dates.

This extends to agreements with other retailers in other countries as well.  So if a store in England isn't going to have a physical copy until a few days later, then the digital release is also restricted so both dates coincide.

SimGuruGraham has been tweeting a lot about the emotions system. He's told us that colors do not have a direct effect on Sims emotions -- a blue room does not make a Sim sad, a red dress does not make them flirty. Rather, certain items affect it. For instance, EA might decide to make a painting of Tragic Clown trigger a sad emotion.

I'm not sure that this is the correct thread for this question, but I'm just not sure where to put it. Does anyone know if items we have purchased for SIMS 3 that do not have a hard copy, such as store items and worlds, will still be available for downloading through EA after SIMS 4 is released? If not, is there a way to back up purchased items to a flash drive or burn them to a cd?

Apologises for the double post, but EA just posted that there is going to be a 'very special announcement' on February 4th, which is actually the 14th anniversary of the launch of the original Sims. I'm assuming that it's going to be relating to the Sims 4.

They actually said a "very special anniversary", not announcement. It makes sense that an announcement would come at the same time, but there is (as yet) no official information about an announcement.

No definite date, other than Autumn 2014 (assuming the Northern Hemisphere's autumn, that is, which is between September and December).

Anyways, there is a main thread about TS4 that is currently locked. I'm locking this one for consistency.
