Sleeping at the Fire Station

I have never played the firefighter career yet so I decided to take my Sim to the fire station just to see what it looked like.  Well, no one was there so she spent part of a day and all night there.  She ate, painted, used the inventing bench, showered, slept, etc. and no one cared.  Is that the way it always works?  I had a Sim with nothing running all over town to shower, eat free, etc. and here the fire station had it all.  I expected firemen to come in any minute and kick her out but it never happened.  So now I wonder if you could basically live at the fire station.

Yes. Firemen live there on weekdays when they're on duty.

My Sim wasn't a fireman though, I just had her go there and look around.  This was in Twinbrook I believe.  I still can't believe I could do all that stuff there.

This should get patched so that simmies can't go there unless with permission or something, for reality sake.

Well, at least patched so simmies that don't work there cannot go there without a firefighter in their household with them, so the kids can see how cool their dad is.

It's a rather unrealistic option, isn't it!!  I've installed the Junk-yard right across the street from the Fire Station, so when my Inventor has finished collecting junk and is tired and dirty he uses the Fire Station as a hotel - and then uses their Invention Bench! As his son is a firefighter, I also get Dad to maintain the Fire Engine and Alarm while he's there.

Lol.  This is true, but those hunky firemen turn elder sooner or later.  I do find it quite odd that they made it where anyone can live there.  Remember, we are talking about the sims here and so far, there is never a dull moment.  There is something always new popping up somewhere.

All the fire-fighters in my legacy are elders, apart from Phillippe of course but it isn't long till he is!

Ambitions careers are so messed up, like promotions coming when you're not even at work or having too many requirements for LTW.

Firefighters should be working twenty four hour shifts, but I guess that would probably unbalance things in the Sims.

Well, does anyone know how the fire stations work in real life? I'm pretty sure they've got shifts of a day or so, but that's only speculation from what I do know.

Usually they work 24 hour shifts. In my city they work one day on and two days off.

In my country it is a part time job and they are on call and when their beeper goes off they tell their boss and get to the station as fast as possible, that is also Day and Night, there is someone on call all the time though and sometimes they can stay there. Wow I never knew a Scouts visit to the Station would be so useful!
