Thank you Louise and Ladybug. The Pawprint I made myself in imitation of a non-seamless pattern. I've been able to remake several patterns that are not seamless into something similar.

I have another half dozen or so I made yesterday to upload still, but I wanted to upload my first pattern made using Inkscape. I had already found a website with lots of vector patterns, which I had been saving as JPEGs, but I saved the vector version of this one. I was able to ungroup all the components, which made it easy to separate out colours. I resized it all to 256x256 before exporting each part separately (I don't know if that is the way to do it - I'm fumbling in the dark here) and then pasted the parts in the corresponding layers. There are 5 different colours, one with 2 tones. My fifth colour - orange - possibly could have done with some tweaking - I did 25%/75% greys on the yellow and pink layers, but it's too much pink.

This is the second of my vector made patterns - I had to do some funky 'nerd stuff' as my husband calls it, to be able to open .eps files, but it's all sorted now. I think I'm on the right track as far as how to use the program - I read a short tutorial for a few different bits, and some forum posts about bits I had trouble with.

Thank you Schipp, Ladybug and KJ. I try to go for variety and in some cases 'different' because there are already thousands of patterns out there. I've downloaded a few patterns in the past, and I don't like patterns that I can't customise. So unless it's the kind of pattern that doesn't need recolouring (eg, flag colours, or the construction one) or it's just too beautiful to pass up, then I don't make it non-recolourable. I have found a vector version of some of my first patterns, so I may be able to redo at least 2.

Haha I bounce from project to project. Most of my patterns are ones I have found and converted. Converting is anywhere from easy to tricky depending on how much I need to tweek the greys of each layer, but fun all the way. Creating my own is more work, but usually I work from 'need'. I've been 'needing' those diagonal tiles for ages. I'm making more tile sets as well, because I find the wall tiles inadequate for my tiling needs

Your patterns are so beautiful and creative to look at! I really must remember to download some as I do most of my posting from my laptop and not the family computer (Where the Sims is). Soon my game will be filled to the brim with flower patterns!

Thank you bubbles It's always nice to know that others like what I've shared.

Here are two that I've spent quite a few hours working on to get just right. It took a lot of fiddling! I downloaded the wood texture, but made the flooring overlay myself. Getting the mixture of brightness and contrast for this texture just right was very difficult! Not to mention working out how to fix the background colour problem (turning off blending on the first channel fixed that).

Thank you NearlyWitches - I too had wanted a good wooden floor pattern. Since I've started making patterns I've been trying to think of the kinds of patterns I've wished I had, and filling in the gaps in the pattern categories that seem to be a bit lacking.
